Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that an interesting website is being done by
Bonnie Gibson that would replace all mailing lists.

Thought I'd let you know.
It's fun interactive and more complete.
Have a very merry christmas to you all. :-)
And check out Gaston Touchette Christmas tree I will post in a bit.

I've given the address of the school to the one that had things to send. She wants to mail it there. I told her I'm sure they'd be very appreciative of anything that they received.

Hi Barbara, unfortunatly I won't be able to make it but you are sure to have a good time. I really enjoyed meeting John and Dani at gourdfest. Dani sat beside me in Elizabeth Gordon's doll class. What a warm and friendly woman she is! And I got to play with one of their drums when Carolyn got an impromptu drumming circle started. What fun!!!

I am eagerly awaiting news about the anticipated cross-country book signing tour by two of our very own members: Catherine and Gary Devine. It has been brought to my attention that not only has Catherine written her own book on coiling, which many of us have seen and bought, but Gary also has a starring role in a recent book on InLace. "Inlace Techniques" by Betsey Sloan. I now have added this book to my gourd library. Congratulations Gary!
Please let us know when you start on your promotional tour so we can all line up to have our books signed by this Canadian Gourd Society couple.

The BST is a collective, artist-run group to support, encourage and promote
artists in the Beach Community. So the entry fee goes to the promotion of the
tour and to covering the expenses of the tour (creation and distribution of over
20,000 brochures as well as advertising, signage etc to make sure that the tour
is well attended)
It is a wonderfully supportive group and many artists have grown, branched out
and have widened their client base through the tour
Hope this helps there is also info on the tour attached to the application form
Thank you

For those of you that did not have the opportunity to attend Gourdfest, I would like to share a few highlights here.
First of all, the show was a great success. Although we did not see the crowds that we expected, the place was “hopping’
I don’t want to reveal too much as Katie will be including highlights in the next newsletter I am sure.
Maybe those of you who took photos, could forward them to her for inclusion in the newsletter.
The AGM on Saturday after the show had some new things on the agenda.
One of the items that will be pursued for next year is the establishment of a Travel Subsidy for our out of province members.
Any member of the CGS residing in Canada and outside the province of Ontario will be eligible.
Details will be posted once the Subsidy committee has it all worked out.
What it means is that for next year’s Gourdfest, the CGS will help to pay the cost to travel to the show in Ontario up to a maximum of $500.00.
Keep your ears open for more information soon.
So if you are feeling a bit left out because you reside too far away from all the action, why not consider travelling to GF next year.
Maybe with the help of the travel subsidy, the CGS can make it happen.
I personally would love to meet some of those “left coast” people.
It has been a pleasure being your president of the last few years.
However I am looking forward to being able to wind down a bit and let someone else put their unique identity on this group.
As you know, Barbara Bellchambers will be your new president.
I know Barbara will do an excellent job and hope that each of you will support her by volunteering in whatever capacity is needed.

Thanks to all for the descriptions and photos and keeping us non-attenders in the loop! Sounds like it was a success.
