i my name's Kate and I've only just joined here,
but it seems that no one has been around for a
while.
Anyway if anyone is about I'm totally in to Clive Barker
(but can't afford the money to join Lost Souls!) and
my favourite book would have to be
Imajica.
Anyway must go, I'm off to find a fellow goth to
correspond with!
Byes for now,
Kate.
posted a pic of myself and an old digital painting i did based on Demon Poking
Its Eyes Out. My newer stuff is much bigger and complex, but you can find them
at my website
am a junkie of Clive Barker, but must admit I
was first brought to it by Hellraiser and the
gorgeous Uncle Frank, Sean Chapman who i haven't seen in
anything else, but was still hooked to clive barker after
that. :)
oes anyone know when Clive is going to release some new material? I am really
looking forward to some new books such as the Galilee sequel and the third book
of the art.
Hey,
just trying to get some discussion going here...I just finished
reading Galilee, what did everyone else think of it? Also, I don't have any idea
on Lord of Illusions 2...
i loved galilee... i thought it was awesome! didn't like the ending though... my
fav barker books r imajica and the great and secret show and of course
everville... what r yours???
I thought Galilee was great too, but I agree that
the ending wasn't as good. There's supposed to be a
sequel though...
My favorites are probably the great
and secret show and weaveworld...but I also liked
sacrament and of course galilee, I still haven't read
everville yet!
---

Hi, everyone.

I haven't read
"Galiliee" yet, but I've heard mixed opinions about it.
Whether it's "good" or "bad" anything by Barker is worth
the read simply because he has such an alluring
writing style (IMHO, of course).

A question for
everyone: what are some of your favorite Barker works (not
limited to his literature)?

And what do you guys
think about trying to schedule a
chat?

Bodhi

---
a chat schedule would be good, but I'm on here so
randomly I'm not sure if I could come...as for favorite
barker works, I think all his best stuff is the
literature, so the books I listed in the last message are my
favorites. However I love a lot of the paintings...
Was starting my own club/chat for Clive Barker on
Yahoo and discovered to my surprise this one!!! So I
had to join a fellow Barker site to support them. I
look forward to chatting with everyone.
Welcome to
the CBAS staff -- bodhithergray. I look forward to
reading some of your stuff. To all other members on this
site. Check out www.splusnet.com/~okami for the Clive
Barker Appreciation Society's website. I look foward to
hearing from everyone!

Drog
---

Welcome to the group, hon! Feel free to jump right on in, start a
new topic, or even tell us a bit about yourself.

Enjoy your
stay!

Bodhi

---
---

I've added the CBAS (Clive Barker
Appreciation Society) URL to our links page. So if you guys
have some free time check it out! 'Tis a great
site.

Also, feel free to add your own Clive Barker (or
personal) links to the

Thank You it's around 7:11 checked out your Club
to see if anyone was around. And was very surprised!
I look forward to chatting with everyone. Thanks
for the review. I think that the pages are just
boring!!! But it gets the information out to the
members/fans.
Will try to catch up with everyone at a later
time.
Drog
I got ICQ message from Bodhi and decided to join.

I just wonder how much info of myself there's on
the net i don't remember posted up.

Any
Chatting to come? That scheduled chat would be fine for
me. Is there any good time people from different time
zones (I'm from Finland) could make it?

BTW:
Anyone else loves aggressive metal music (Sepultura,
Machine Head, Pantera, Slayer, Napalm Death,
Carcass...)?

Pete H
---

Welcome, Pete H! Glad you joined
us.

Yeah, I think a scheduled chat is worth a try. When's a
good time for everyone? I'm online all day long, so
I'm definitely flexible.

And I'm into metal:
Pantera, Megadeath, old-school Metallica, Cradle of Filth,
etc, etc, etc...

Bodhi

---
---

A fellow member just posted a painted collage based upon "Hellraiser"
in the club's photo album. It's great! If you have a minute check it
out.

Bodhi

---
Hi folks, I was first astonished by Clive with
Hellraiser, by his no BS approach to making horror. This
inspired me to do many paintings of Pinhead plus the fact
that I find him do difficult and interesting character
to paint, Then I read weaveworld, then I read it
again, and again, That book is the ultimate. So I wanted
a poster of it or something, so I painted one to
display on my bedroom wall.Unfortunately I could not even
begin to enjoy "The great and secret show" and
consequently "everville" but I really enjoyed sacrament, The
hellbound heart, talk about stretching a concept to its
limits, and cabal ( Nightbreed was a favourite movie for
a while until lord of illusions came along).
Yes
we definately need to arrange a chat time.
I am another 'fish', that dear bodhi fished from
icq's interests. I am happy to be in a club for Clive
Barker, and hope we'll get a chance to talk
sometime.

As far as it concerns music, I have to say to
Bodhi and Not a maryonette that I am in metal too: Old
Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden and I also like some other
stuff like disco 80's (Does anybody know Den Harrow's
'Boys of Summer' or 'Bad Boy';)

I hope to get a
Clive Barker's book to read, since there aren't so many
here in Greece, near Athens - except that I am so
blind, so I can't see them in, even if I pass
by.

See you soon..
Kostas
Hi Kostas!

Glad to see there are other
fellow metal/barkerheads here.

I have also
problems finding Barker in Finnish.
I've only found
English version of Imajica, and I think I need to read
some shorter book in English before I can start that
brick.

I bought Koonz's Demon Seed English version a while
ago, but I haven't started it, 'cos I found also a
paperback of King's Dark Tower 1-3, which I started to read
before I buy Wizard And Glass.

BTW: Are you going
to see Iron Maiden, Athens October 1st? Sad for you
if you are, 'cos thats only European gig Megadeth
wont support Maiden.
---

Welcome aboard, Kostas! I look forward
to talking with you.

You said Barker books
were hard to come by in Greece. Which ones have you
read and what were your opinions of them?

Oh,
Everyone. I don't know how many of you have heard of the
Imajica CCG (collectible card game), but it's being taken
out of print due to lack of consumer interest (not
that the company ever did a decent job of ADVERTISING
it). What are everyone's feelings on
this?

Bodhi

---
Thank you for your answer in my message. I have
to say that I haven't read enything of the books you
mentioned, although I would like. With the first chance I
get, you know what I will do...
Too pitty that
Megadeth won't be in Athens. I've just started to sing the
cryptic writings songs, and is going to cost me much
their loss. You see, I went on Metallica concert with
Monster Magnet, in June, and I just started to have an
appetite for more concerts. They sureley make you feel
better. Hope I hear from you again..

Kostas
Dear Boghi, i feel terrible that a publication
stops that easily. Some times people just can't see
beyond their money figures. I believe that within time,
the imajica would give back the money they put it,
but if they are greedy enough to stop for the
possibility that there isn't much gain, I believe that aren't
professionals at all, since they cannot see far enough. Hope I
got a copy of the book to read it, because this with
the card game, could affect the book publishing in
other countries. That is a terrible
thought.

Kostas
Because I forgot to mention it, I have read these
three Clive Barker's books: Weaveworld, The Big And
Secret Show and Everville
I know that they are
plenty more (as I can see in this meassage board), but I
haven't seen any other around. Maybe if I get in touch
with bell distribution in Greece, I get an idea of
Clive's work published, here.

Kostas
