Ajo qė sot boton kėto kujtime, nuk ndodhet nė Shqipėri. Androniqi
Kristo (Malo), ka shkuar tė ēmallet me vėllezėrit e saj nė Amerikėn e
largėt. Me ata vėllezėr, me tė cilėt u nda jo fort pėrzemėrsisht nė
gushtin e vitit 1971.

Me ata vėllezėr qė arritėn tė largohen nė mėnyrė spektakolare me
gjithė anijen e peshkimit, kapiten i sė cilės ishte njėri prej tė
katėr vėllezėrve tė saj. Ngjarja e bujshme kujtohet ende nga banorėt
e Vlorės. Kushdo tė tregon se kush ishte organizatori i asaj ikje qė
pėshtjelloi politikėn e shtetit tė kaluar. Gjashtė familje u detyruan
tė largoheshin nga Shqipėria pėr njė jetė mė tė mirė dhe kėtė nuk do
t'ua falnin kurrė. Androniqi Kristo (Malo), sė bashku me
bashkėshortin dhe fėmijėt, nuk pranoi tė rrinte me ta dhe tė ndahej
nė mėnyrė jo vėllazėrore. Ajo tregon se ēfarė qėndrimi mbajtėn tė
vėllezėrit ndaj saj. Ku janė dhe ēfarė bėjnė protagonistėt e asaj
ngjarjeje. Ē'pasoja politike pati ajo vetė dhe si e analizon vetė
protagonistja jonė ngjarjen e atėhershme, sot pas gati tridhjet
vjetėsh. Androniqi nuk e ka aspak tė lehtė tė flasė pėr kėtė histori,
e ndėrsa vendos tė flasė qan dhe malli pėr vėllezėrit duket pėrmes
lotėve. Himarjotja tregon gjithēka qė ndodhi atė gusht tė vitit 1971.

Cilat ishin rrethanat nė tė cilat vėllezėrit tuaj arritėn deri nė
largimin nga Shqipėria?
Pėr tė kuptuar atė ikje ėshtė e domosdoshme tė tė jap disa shpjegime
tė tjera. Dua tė theksoj se familja jonė e ndihmoi me sa mundi Luftėn
Nacionalēlirimtare. Vėllai ynė i madh, Fotaqi, mori edhe vetė pjesė
nė luftė. Nė dhjetor tė vitit 1942, ai ishte anėtar i aktivit tė
rinisė komuniste tė fshatit Himarė dhe qė nga gushti i vitit 1943
pjesėtar i Ēetės sė Bregut dhe mė vonė partizan nė Brigadėn e 5-tė
Sulmuese. Pėr tė gjithė kėtė kontribut ai gėzon disa dekorata si: atė
tė Trimėrisė, tė Ēlirimit, si luftėtar nė Koalicionin e Madh
Antifashist etj. Ai njohu nga afėr Zaho Kokėn e Shefqet Peēin, madje,
ky i fundit i kushtoi edhe tregimin "Fotaqi i Vogėl", pėr trimėrinė e
treguar nė luftimet nė Pėrmet. Fotaqi, pas kthimit nga luftimet nė
Jugosllavi u fut nė shkollėn e kadetėve qė mė pas quhej
shkolla "Skėnderbej", me ėndrrėn e madhe pėr t'u bėrė oficer. Por
fati nuk e deshi qė kjo ėndėrr tė shkonte nė realitet. Por jo vetėm
kaq, por kėtu mori tė krisur dashuria pėr pushtetin e ashtuquajtur
popullor, pėr tė cilin ai vetė luftoi deri nė Jugosllavi. Dhe ja si
ndodhi. Kishte humbur koburja e Qemal Stafės dhe dikush u bė fajtor.
Ky dikushi, nėn torturė deklaroi kot sė koti se koburen ia kishte
dhėnė Fotaqit tim. Dhe siē bėheshin ato punė atėherė, ngeli faji te
Fotaqi. E dėnuan padrejtėsisht me tre vjet burg, gjatė tė cilėve ai
tentoi tė arratisej dhe e ridėnuan edhe 15 vjet tė tjera, pasi u kap
nė Kapshticė tė Korēės, duke ikur pėr nė Greqi. Por nė vitin 1949,
Halim Xhelua i Dukatit, e ndihmoi tė pėrfitonte nga njė amnisti e
atij viti. Doli nga burgu, por "buka e thyer nuk ngjitet mė". Atė
pushtet nuk e donte mė dhe mendja i punonte vetėm pėr tė ikur diku ku
mendonte se i bėhej mė mirė pėr vete dhe fėmijėt. Fotaqi ka qenė
duarartė. Ēfarė i shihte syri ia bėnte dora. Nė vitin 1969 tentoi pėr
herė tė dytė tė arratisej. Pėr kėtė bėri vetė edhe njė gomone dhe e
thurėn mirė planin edhe me tė shoqen, Aleksandrėn. Erdhėn nė Himarė,
pa ja treguar askujt planin, por nė minutėn e fundit, nuk e realizuan
dot atė qė kishin menduar dhe pėr tė mos u zbuluar e dogjėn fare
gomonen qė kishin pėrgatitur. Por kėtė radhė mendoi tė fuste nė valle
edhe tė vėllezėrit, me tė cilėt do ta kishte mė tė lehtė tė
realizonte planin. Nė fillim iu hap Pandeliut qė atė vit, e kishte me
shkollė nė Tiranė. Nė fillim si larg e larg, kur e pa se edhe i
vėllai pėrputhej nė shumė gjėra me tė, direkt e nė temė. Pasi e poqėn
bashkė ju desh patjetėr edhe Vasili, sepse tek ai shikonin mundėsinė
e realizimit.

Pėrse mendon se mund ta realizonin planin me Vasilin?
Tė gjithė vėllezėrit e mi gėzonin goxha reputacion dhe goxha detyra.
Edhe Fotaqi nuk ishte se i mungonte buka. Madje, dua tė them se ai
punonte aq shumė sa ia kishin lakminė tė gjithė pėr tė mirat qė
gėzonte. Jo vetėm kaq, por ai ndihmonte edhe prindėrit tanė nė
Himarė. Vasili ishte kapiten anijeje nė portin e Vlorės, por edhe
sekretar partie. Edhe Pandeliu ishte sekretar i pushtetit nė Himarė,
kurse Jani, pėrveēse punonte nė uzinėn e atėhershme "Enver" ishte
edhe gjyqtar futbolli. Por duke parė se zhvillmet nė Shqipėri ishin
ku e ku larg atyre qė ata ėndėrronin, morėn kėtė vendim. Vasili, me
gjithė atė reputacion qė kishte, nuk pranoi menjėherė. Madje, i
kėrcėnoi edhe vėllezėrit qė tė hiqnin dorė se ndryshe vetė do t'i
raportonte tek organet e pushtetit. Por Fotaqi dhe Pandeliu pak nga
pak ja mbushėn mendjen, se e mira e tyre dhe e gjithė fisit do tė
ishte diku tjetėr. Dhe Vasili, midis shqetėsimeve, asaj qė po jetonte
dhe asaj qė mendonte u bashkua me tė vėllezėrit.

Si rrodhėn ngjarjet?
Tė tre vėllezėrit biseduan dhe vendosėn se koha mė e pėrshtatshme pėr
tė ikur ishte gushti i atij viti, d.m.th i vitit 1971. Mė 1 gusht,
atėherė bėhej festė nė Himarė dhe ata mendonin se nė rrėmujėn e saj
do tė pėrfitonin mė lehtė. Ata e porositėn Vasilin qė tė nxirrte njė
leje pėr tė marrė me kėtė rast edhe njerėzit e tjerė tė familjes pėr
t'i ēuar nė festė nė Himarė. Duke pasur gjithė ato pozita, Vasili nuk
a pati tė vėshtirė ta bėnte kėtė gjė. Kėshtu qė nė datėn 31 korrik tė
vitit 1971, ne u mblodhėm tė gjithė nė Vlorė dhe hipėm me gjithė
kalamajtė nė anijen e Vasilit pėr tė ikur nė Himarė. E pėrsėris, pėr
tė ikur nė Himarė, nė festė se planin e arratisjes e dinin veē
Fotaqi, Vasili, Pandeliu dhe Aleksandra me fėmijėt e saj. Ne tė
tjerėt sė bashku me fėmijėt tanė me tė vėrtetė po gėzonim se do
shkonim nė festė.

Nuk ikėm dot, sepse kur anija jonė po bėhej gati tė nisej nga Porti i
Vlorės, se kush dha urdhėr qė bashkė me ne tė vinin edhe nja dhjetė
ushtarė tė gardės, qė duheshin pėr tė ruajtur udhėheqjen qė do tė
vinte nė festėn e Himarės. Ardhja e tyre i prishi tė gjitha planet e
thurura, sepse nė anije ishin edhe 6 - 7 marinarė dhe nuk ishte e
lehtė tė manovroje me kaq shumė njerėz kundėr. Atyre nuk mund t'u
thuhej hapur pėr planin e arratisjes, sepse ishte e sigurt qė ata nuk
do tė pranonin. Dhe po ashtu, vėllezėrit e mi kishin menduar qė asgjė
tė mos bėhej pėrmes dhunės apo vrasjes sė askujt. Duke pasur parasysh
tė gjitha kėto, ata e anulluan planin, por vetėm pėr atė ditė dhe
menduan se si ta realizonin njė ditė tjetėr.

Ē'ndodhi mė pas?
Gjatė gjithė javės kemi bėrė plazh nė Himarė, pa e ditur se javėn
tjetėr do tė iknim pėr nė Greqi. Tė shtunėn tjetėr, pra mė 7 gusht,
Vasili kishte marrė pėrsėri leje pėr tė na sjellė me tė njėjtėn anije
nga Himara nė Vlorė. Vėllezėrit ia mbushėn mendjen edhe prindėrve
tanė, Thomait dhe Aleksandrės, qė tė vinin e tė rrinin ca ditė nė
Tiranė dhe ata pranuan. Kėshtu mė datėn 7 Gusht 1971, rreth orės 4
mbasdite, 34 vetė i hipėn anijes sė peshkimit "De Rada" kapiten i sė
cilės ishte vėllai im, Vasil Malo, dhe u nisėm drejt Vlorės. Nuk e
dinin tė gjithė planin e arratisjes, pėrjashtuar 4 - 5 vetė, kėshtu
qė tė tjerėt e dinin se po vinim nė Vlorė. Sa dolėm nga Himara u
hodhėn edhe rrjetat e peshkimit dhe Vasili na tha: "Jemi qė jemi zėmė
edhe ndonjė peshk pėr tė realizuar planin".

Po marinarė kishte nė anije?
Ishin 6 marinarė, midis tė

Amerikė


"Kur u ndava, nuk i takova vėllezėrit"

U kthye nė Vlorė pėr tė vuajtur persekutimin e sistemit


cilėve edhe njėri kunat i imi. Por edhe ata si tė tė tjerėt as qė e
dinin se ēfarė ishte thurur nė mendjen e Fotaqit, Vasilit dhe
Pandeliut. Ata i bindeshin urdhrave tė kapitenit dhe kėtė udhėtim e
quanin diēka tė zakonshme. Nė fakt, qė nė nisje pati ca vonesa qė nuk
binin nė sy, por qė ishin nė planin e organizatorėve. Ata kishin
llogaritur qė nata t'i zinte rrugės, duke ardhur pėr nė Vlorė se
kėshtu do ta kishin mė tė lehtė pėr tė realizuar atė qė mendonin.
Duke iu afruar Sazanit, ata akoma nuk kishin vendosur se ku do tė
shkonin, nė Itali apo Greqi. Pėr tė humbur gjurmėt, Vasili raportoi
me radio se do tė vonoheshin pak ngaqė kishin rėnė nė peshk tė madh
dhe pėr tė nesėrmen tė bėheshin gati shumė makina pėr tė marrė gjithė
atė peshk. Kjo u bė edhe pėr t'u maskuar nga pikat e kufirit qė ishin
atėherė nėpėr bregdetin tonė. Qėlloi qė filloi edhe njė furtunė e
vogėl dhe marinarėve ju dha njė tip koktej qė ja prishėn shumė shpejt
mendjen dhe vėllezėrit e mi, nuk e patėn tė vėshtirė t'i merrnin dhe
t'i fusnin nėpėr gabina. Kėtu i mbyllėn me ēelėsa qė i kishin
pėrgatitur mė parė, pėr ēdo tė papritur. Ne tė tjerėt ia kishim futur
gjumit.

Kur e mėsuat atė qė po ndodhte?
Tė nesėrmen, d.m.th mė datėn 8 gusht, kur kishim hyrė nė ujėrat
territoriale tė Greqisė. Se mesa morėm vesh ne, midis Shqipėrisė dhe
Greqisė nuk paska ujėra ndėrkombėtare siē ka me Italinė. Fotaqi na
shpjegoi se ē'po ndodhte dhe kush ishte plani.

Si reaguat?
Padyshim qė reaguam tė revoltuar. Sidomos, unė dhe im shoq. Sepse na
erdhi krejt e papritur kjo qė po ndodhte. Sepse e quanim tė turpshme
pėr tė mos thėnė tė pamenduar dhe tepėr tė ulėt tė tradhtonim
atdheun. Por edhe sepse mendonim pak mė thellė: mirė tė gjithė Malajt
ishin nė anije dhe do tė rrinin bashkė po ē'do tė ndodhte me njerėzit
e fisit tė tim shoqi, Taqi Kristo. Sepse duhet kujtuar se nė kėto
raste ndėshkimi ishte shumė i madh deri edhe te kushėrinjtė.
Vėllėzėrit e tim shoqi kishin detyra tė rėndėsishme nė shtetin e
atėhershėm. Njėri prej tyre ishte komandant nėndetėseje, tjetri ishte
pėrgjegjės i shėndetėsisė sė gjithė ushtrisė. Ē'do tė bėhej me ta dhe
fėmijėt e tyre? Po ishim nė mes tė detit dhe tė pafuqishėm pėr tė
kundėrvepruar, kėshtu qė unė sė bashku me burrin dhe fėmijėt, por
edhe kunatat e tjera e fėmijėt e tyre vetėm sa bėrtisnim dhe ulurinim
kot sė koti. Pas gati 16 orėsh udhėtim ne pamė se po i afroheshim njė
ishulli grek.

Si u ndatė me vėllezėrit tuaj?
Nė gjykimin e atėhershėm u ndava si njė patriote e madhe, nuk u
dhashė as dorėn dhe jo mė tė takohesha dhe tė pėrqafohesha me ta. U
putha dhe u pėrqafova vetėm me nėnėn time, e cila dėshironte tė
kthehej sė bashku me ne. Por pėrfundimisht edhe ajo iku me tė tjerėt
e fisit tonė. Nuk kam aspak turp tė them, se nuk jam ndarė siē duhej
tė ndahesha. Por mos harro se gjykimet bėhen edhe sipas kohės.

Ē'bėnė mė tej vėllezėrit e tu dhe familjet e tyre?
Pėr gati njė vit ata qėndruan nė Greqi. Fillimisht qėndruan si tė
gjithė refugjatėt e tjerė, nė njė kamp diku pranė Janinės. Ashtu i
kishte rregullat shteti grek. Pasi u bindėn se arratisja e atyre
katėr familjeve ishte bėrė thjesht pėr njė jetė mė tė mirė ekonomike
dhe mė tė lirė nė kuptimin e plotė tė fjalės, ata u shpėrngulėn tė
gjithė nė Athinė. Edhe aty iu nėnshtruan hetimit, sipas rregullave tė
shtetit grek dhe kur u bindėn pėrsėri pėr qėllimin e arratisjes sė
tyre, u sistemuan tė gjithė nėpėr shtėpi normale. Pastaj u gjetėn
edhe punė sipas zanateve qė kishin. Fėmijėt u regjistruan tė gjithė
nėpėr shkolla sipas moshave. Mirėpo qėllimi i arratisjes sė tyre, nuk
ishte thjesht vajtja nė njė shtet tjetėr dhe tė ushqyerit me bukė,
sepse kjo atyre nuk u mungonte as nė Shqipėri. Promotori i tė gjithė
kėsaj historie ishte Fotaqi. Edhe nė Greqi ai nuk ndenji rehat, nė
kuptimin e mirė tė fjalės. Pasi i siguroi tė gjithė ata qė mori me
vete, ai mendonte pėr njė tė mirė mė tė madhe. Sepse ishte mirė
Greqia nė krahasim me Shqipėrinė, por kishte edhe shumė mė mirė se
Greqia. Pikėrisht pėr kėtė qėllim, katėr muaj pas arritjes nė Greqi,
Fotaqi ndėrmori njė udhėtim njohjeje nėpėr shtete tė ndryshme tė
Evropės. Shkoi nė Gjermani, pastaj nė Hollandė, mė tej nė Itali dhe u
kthye nė Greqi. Pikėrisht ato qė pa aty, i mbushėn atij mendjen pėr
tė ikur mė tej. Dhe ėndėrr kishte Amerikėn.
E dinte dhe e kishte kuptuar se hapat nė Amerikė hidhen ngadalė, por
tė sigurtė. Kur vuri pak tė ardhura mė vete kėrkoi njė mundėsi
tjetėr. Pas njė studimi qė i bėri vendit dhe ligjeve fiskale qė ishin
atje, vendosi tė ngulej nė njė ishull tė Majamit, nė Killargo.

Me ēfarė u mor?
Mė lekėt qė kishte grumbulluar deri atėherė bleu njė piceri tė vogėl.
Me punėn dhe pėrpjekjet e tij dhe tė sė shoqes, Aleksandrės, pėr tė
cilėn dua tė them se asnjėherė nuk ia prishi qejfin tim vėllai, sepse

Po sot, kush ėshtė Fotaq Malo?
Njė njeri i nderuar dhe i respektuar jo vetėm nga gruaja, fėmijėt dhe
nipėrit e mbesat e shumta, por edhe nga shokė e miq tė shumtė. Me tė
ardhurat qė ka siguruar ka blerė njė shtėpi nė Himarė, po ngre nga
themelet pėr shtėpinė e prindėrve, ka njė shtėpi nė Tiranė dhe njė
vilė nė Athinė. Tė gjitha kėto i ka pėr pushime, sepse atdhe tė
tanishėm ka Amerikėn, ku ka investuar tė gjithė kapitalin qė vuri me
punė. U qėndron mbi kokė fėmijėve qė kanė secili biznesin e vet dhe
ēlodhet me nipėrit dhe mbesat e shumta dhe u tregon edhe historitė e
Himarės sonė. Ai ėshtė edhe politikan dhe ka takuar direkt edhe
presidentin Ronald Regan nė Shtėpinė e Bardhė. Por nuk e ka harruar
edhe Himarėn qė e lindi dhe e rriti. Modestisht, por ka investuar
edhe nė infrastrukturėn e saj qė edhe bashkėqytetarėt e tij tė rrojnė
mirė e mė mirė. Pėr tė gjitha kėto, ai ka marrė uratėn e shokėve dhe
tė tė njohurve tanė, por edhe tė pushtetit lokal tė Himarės.

Po me familjen tuaj dhe marinarėt ēfarė u bė?
Edhe neve na u afrua qėndrimi nga autoritetet nė Greqi, por siē ju
thashė askush nga ne nuk pranoi tė qėndronte. Kėshtu qė unė sė bashku
me tim shoq, Taqi Kristo, dhe tre fėmijėt dhe tė gjithė marinarėt u
kthyem nė Vlorė. Kthimi ynė ishte i vetėdijshėm dhe nė ato momente pa
as mė tė voglin pishman. Dua t'ju kujtoj se arratisja kishte bėrė
bujė tė madhe. Nėpėr ndėrmarrje dhe institucione kishin filluar
analizat e ndryshme pėr tė gjetur shkaqet qė ēuan nė kėtė arratisje.
Sepse nuk bėhej fjalė pėr njė arratisje tė zakonshme, por pėr njė
arratisje masive dhe me mjetet e vetė flotės shqiptare. Bėhej fjalė
pėr arratisjen e njė kapiteni anijeje qė ishte edhe anėtar i
Pleniumit tė Partisė sė rrethit dhe qė ishte propozuar edhe pėr "Hero
i Punės Socialiste". Bėhej fjalė pėr arratisjen e njė pushtetari tė
Himarės dhe jo tė njė fshati apo qyteti dosido. Nuk bėhej fjalė pėr
arratisjen e njė njeriu tė vetėm, por e katėr familjeve, plot 30
vetėve. Bėhej fjalė pėr njė arratisje qė u trumbetua me tė madhe dhe
menjėherė nga tė gjitha stacionet televizive tė botės mbarė. Ishte
njė arratisje qė bėri t'i thėrriste kokės vetė udhėheqja e Partisė.
Por, pėr hir tė sė vėrtetės, dua t'ju them se torturat tona nuk ishin
ato qė mund tė mendojė dikush. Po edhe pa u lagur nuk kaluam. Mua mė
hoqėn nga puna qė kisha mė parė, nė fabrikėn e konservimit tė
peshkut. Nuk ma thanė drejtpėrdrejt, por gjithēka ishte e qartė. Nuk
mund tė punonte nė konservim motra e tradhtarve, sepse mund tė hidhte
helm nė konserva dhe mund tė helmonte popullin. Mė ēuan nė njė punė 1
orė e gjysmė larg ku duhet tė punoja me tri turne. Fėmijėt e mi i
shikonin si nipėr tė tradhtarve nė lagje e kudo. Persekutim ishte
fakti qė edhe pse djali im ishte i shkėlqyeri nė mėsime, nuk i dhanė
tė drejtėn e shkollimit pėr nė universitet. Po jo vetėm atij, por
asnjė prej fėmijėve tė mi, nuk pati mundėsinė tė vazhdonte shkollėn e
lartė.

Ajo qė sot boton kėto kujtime, nuk ndodhet nė Shqipėri. Androniqi
Kristo (Malo), ka shkuar tė ēmallet me vėllezėrit e saj nė Amerikėn e
largėt. Me ata vėllezėr, me tė cilėt u nda jo fort pėrzemėrsisht nė
gushtin e vitit 1971.

Me ata vėllezėr qė arritėn tė largohen nė mėnyrė spektakolare me
gjithė anijen e peshkimit, kapiten i sė cilės ishte njėri prej tė
katėr vėllezėrve tė saj. Ngjarja e bujshme kujtohet ende nga banorėt
e Vlorės. Kushdo tė tregon se kush ishte organizatori i asaj ikje qė
pėshtjelloi politikėn e shtetit tė kaluar. Gjashtė familje u detyruan
tė largoheshin nga Shqipėria pėr njė jetė mė tė mirė dhe kėtė nuk do
t'ua falnin kurrė. Androniqi Kristo (Malo), sė bashku me
bashkėshortin dhe fėmijėt, nuk pranoi tė rrinte me ta dhe tė ndahej
nė mėnyrė jo vėllazėrore. Ajo tregon se ēfarė qėndrimi mbajtėn tė
vėllezėrit ndaj saj. Ku janė dhe ēfarė bėjnė protagonistėt e asaj
ngjarjeje. Ē'pasoja politike pati ajo vetė dhe si e analizon vetė
protagonistja jonė ngjarjen e atėhershme, sot pas gati tridhjet
vjetėsh. Androniqi nuk e ka aspak tė lehtė tė flasė pėr kėtė histori,
e ndėrsa vendos tė flasė qan dhe malli pėr vėllezėrit duket pėrmes
lotėve. Himarjotja tregon gjithēka qė ndodhi atė gusht tė vitit 1971.

Cilat ishin rrethanat nė tė cilat vėllezėrit tuaj arritėn deri nė
largimin nga Shqipėria?
Pėr tė kuptuar atė ikje ėshtė e domosdoshme tė tė jap disa shpjegime
tė tjera. Dua tė theksoj se familja jonė e ndihmoi me sa mundi Luftėn
Nacionalēlirimtare. Vėllai ynė i madh, Fotaqi, mori edhe vetė pjesė
nė luftė. Nė dhjetor tė vitit 1942, ai ishte anėtar i aktivit tė
rinisė komuniste tė fshatit Himarė dhe qė nga gushti i vitit 1943
pjesėtar i Ēetės sė Bregut dhe mė vonė partizan nė Brigadėn e 5-tė
Sulmuese. Pėr tė gjithė kėtė kontribut ai gėzon disa dekorata si: atė
tė Trimėrisė, tė Ēlirimit, si luftėtar nė Koalicionin e Madh
Antifashist etj. Ai njohu nga afėr Zaho Kokėn e Shefqet Peēin, madje,
ky i fundit i kushtoi edhe tregimin "Fotaqi i Vogėl", pėr trimėrinė e
treguar nė luftimet nė Pėrmet. Fotaqi, pas kthimit nga luftimet nė
Jugosllavi u fut nė shkollėn e kadetėve qė mė pas quhej
shkolla "Skėnderbej", me ėndrrėn e madhe pėr t'u bėrė oficer. Por
fati nuk e deshi qė kjo ėndėrr tė shkonte nė realitet. Por jo vetėm
kaq, por kėtu mori tė krisur dashuria pėr pushtetin e ashtuquajtur
popullor, pėr tė cilin ai vetė luftoi deri nė Jugosllavi. Dhe ja si
ndodhi. Kishte humbur koburja e Qemal Stafės dhe dikush u bė fajtor.
Ky dikushi, nėn torturė deklaroi kot sė koti se koburen ia kishte
dhėnė Fotaqit tim. Dhe siē bėheshin ato punė atėherė, ngeli faji te
Fotaqi. E dėnuan padrejtėsisht me tre vjet burg, gjatė tė cilėve ai
tentoi tė arratisej dhe e ridėnuan edhe 15 vjet tė tjera, pasi u kap
nė Kapshticė tė Korēės, duke ikur pėr nė Greqi. Por nė vitin 1949,
Halim Xhelua i Dukatit, e ndihmoi tė pėrfitonte nga njė amnisti e
atij viti. Doli nga burgu, por "buka e thyer nuk ngjitet mė". Atė
pushtet nuk e donte mė dhe mendja i punonte vetėm pėr tė ikur diku ku
mendonte se i bėhej mė mirė pėr vete dhe fėmijėt. Fotaqi ka qenė
duarartė. Ēfarė i shihte syri ia bėnte dora. Nė vitin 1969 tentoi pėr
herė tė dytė tė arratisej. Pėr kėtė bėri vetė edhe njė gomone dhe e
thurėn mirė planin edhe me tė shoqen, Aleksandrėn. Erdhėn nė Himarė,
pa ja treguar askujt planin, por nė minutėn e fundit, nuk e realizuan
dot atė qė kishin menduar dhe pėr tė mos u zbuluar e dogjėn fare
gomonen qė kishin pėrgatitur. Por kėtė radhė mendoi tė fuste nė valle
edhe tė vėllezėrit, me tė cilėt do ta kishte mė tė lehtė tė
realizonte planin. Nė fillim iu hap Pandeliut qė atė vit, e kishte me
shkollė nė Tiranė. Nė fillim si larg e larg, kur e pa se edhe i
vėllai pėrputhej nė shumė gjėra me tė, direkt e nė temė. Pasi e poqėn
bashkė ju desh patjetėr edhe Vasili, sepse tek ai shikonin mundėsinė
e realizimit.

Pėrse mendon se mund ta realizonin planin me Vasilin?
Tė gjithė vėllezėrit e mi gėzonin goxha reputacion dhe goxha detyra.
Edhe Fotaqi nuk ishte se i mungonte buka. Madje, dua tė them se ai
punonte aq shumė sa ia kishin lakminė tė gjithė pėr tė mirat qė
gėzonte. Jo vetėm kaq, por ai ndihmonte edhe prindėrit tanė nė
Himarė. Vasili ishte kapiten anijeje nė portin e Vlorės, por edhe
sekretar partie. Edhe Pandeliu ishte sekretar i pushtetit nė Himarė,
kurse Jani, pėrveēse punonte nė uzinėn e atėhershme "Enver" ishte
edhe gjyqtar futbolli. Por duke parė se zhvillmet nė Shqipėri ishin
ku e ku larg atyre qė ata ėndėrronin, morėn kėtė vendim. Vasili, me
gjithė atė reputacion qė kishte, nuk pranoi menjėherė. Madje, i
kėrcėnoi edhe vėllezėrit qė tė hiqnin dorė se ndryshe vetė do t'i
raportonte tek organet e pushtetit. Por Fotaqi dhe Pandeliu pak nga
pak ja mbushėn mendjen, se e mira e tyre dhe e gjithė fisit do tė
ishte diku tjetėr. Dhe Vasili, midis shqetėsimeve, asaj qė po jetonte
dhe asaj qė mendonte u bashkua me tė vėllezėrit.

Si rrodhėn ngjarjet?
Tė tre vėllezėrit biseduan dhe vendosėn se koha mė e pėrshtatshme pėr
tė ikur ishte gushti i atij viti, d.m.th i vitit 1971. Mė 1 gusht,
atėherė bėhej festė nė Himarė dhe ata mendonin se nė rrėmujėn e saj
do tė pėrfitonin mė lehtė. Ata e porositėn Vasilin qė tė nxirrte njė
leje pėr tė marrė me kėtė rast edhe njerėzit e tjerė tė familjes pėr
t'i ēuar nė festė nė Himarė. Duke pasur gjithė ato pozita, Vasili nuk
a pati tė vėshtirė ta bėnte kėtė gjė. Kėshtu qė nė datėn 31 korrik tė
vitit 1971, ne u mblodhėm tė gjithė nė Vlorė dhe hipėm me gjithė
kalamajtė nė anijen e Vasilit pėr tė ikur nė Himarė. E pėrsėris, pėr
tė ikur nė Himarė, nė festė se planin e arratisjes e dinin veē
Fotaqi, Vasili, Pandeliu dhe Aleksandra me fėmijėt e saj. Ne tė
tjerėt sė bashku me fėmijėt tanė me tė vėrtetė po gėzonim se do
shkonim nė festė.

Nuk ikėm dot, sepse kur anija jonė po bėhej gati tė nisej nga Porti i
Vlorės, se kush dha urdhėr qė bashkė me ne tė vinin edhe nja dhjetė
ushtarė tė gardės, qė duheshin pėr tė ruajtur udhėheqjen qė do tė
vinte nė festėn e Himarės. Ardhja e tyre i prishi tė gjitha planet e
thurura, sepse nė anije ishin edhe 6 - 7 marinarė dhe nuk ishte e
lehtė tė manovroje me kaq shumė njerėz kundėr. Atyre nuk mund t'u
thuhej hapur pėr planin e arratisjes, sepse ishte e sigurt qė ata nuk
do tė pranonin. Dhe po ashtu, vėllezėrit e mi kishin menduar qė asgjė
tė mos bėhej pėrmes dhunės apo vrasjes sė askujt. Duke pasur parasysh
tė gjitha kėto, ata e anulluan planin, por vetėm pėr atė ditė dhe
menduan se si ta realizonin njė ditė tjetėr.

Ē'ndodhi mė pas?
Gjatė gjithė javės kemi bėrė plazh nė Himarė, pa e ditur se javėn
tjetėr do tė iknim pėr nė Greqi. Tė shtunėn tjetėr, pra mė 7 gusht,
Vasili kishte marrė pėrsėri leje pėr tė na sjellė me tė njėjtėn anije
nga Himara nė Vlorė. Vėllezėrit ia mbushėn mendjen edhe prindėrve
tanė, Thomait dhe Aleksandrės, qė tė vinin e tė rrinin ca ditė nė
Tiranė dhe ata pranuan. Kėshtu mė datėn 7 Gusht 1971, rreth orės 4
mbasdite, 34 vetė i hipėn anijes sė peshkimit "De Rada" kapiten i sė
cilės ishte vėllai im, Vasil Malo, dhe u nisėm drejt Vlorės. Nuk e
dinin tė gjithė planin e arratisjes, pėrjashtuar 4 - 5 vetė, kėshtu
qė tė tjerėt e dinin se po vinim nė Vlorė. Sa dolėm nga Himara u
hodhėn edhe rrjetat e peshkimit dhe Vasili na tha: "Jemi qė jemi zėmė
edhe ndonjė peshk pėr tė realizuar planin".

"Kur u ndava, nuk i takova vėllezėrit"

U kthye nė Vlorė pėr tė vuajtur persekutimin e sistemit


cilėve edhe njėri kunat i imi. Por edhe ata si tė tė tjerėt as qė e
dinin se ēfarė ishte thurur nė mendjen e Fotaqit, Vasilit dhe
Pandeliut. Ata i bindeshin urdhrave tė kapitenit dhe kėtė udhėtim e
quanin diēka tė zakonshme. Nė fakt, qė nė nisje pati ca vonesa qė nuk
binin nė sy, por qė ishin nė planin e organizatorėve. Ata kishin
llogaritur qė nata t'i zinte rrugės, duke ardhur pėr nė Vlorė se
kėshtu do ta kishin mė tė lehtė pėr tė realizuar atė qė mendonin.
Duke iu afruar Sazanit, ata akoma nuk kishin vendosur se ku do tė
shkonin, nė Itali apo Greqi. Pėr tė humbur gjurmėt, Vasili raportoi
me radio se do tė vonoheshin pak ngaqė kishin rėnė nė peshk tė madh
dhe pėr tė nesėrmen tė bėheshin gati shumė makina pėr tė marrė gjithė
atė peshk. Kjo u bė edhe pėr t'u maskuar nga pikat e kufirit qė ishin
atėherė nėpėr bregdetin tonė. Qėlloi qė filloi edhe njė furtunė e
vogėl dhe marinarėve ju dha njė tip koktej qė ja prishėn shumė shpejt
mendjen dhe vėllezėrit e mi, nuk e patėn tė vėshtirė t'i merrnin dhe
t'i fusnin nėpėr gabina. Kėtu i mbyllėn me ēelėsa qė i kishin
pėrgatitur mė parė, pėr ēdo tė papritur. Ne tė tjerėt ia kishim futur
gjumit.

Kur e mėsuat atė qė po ndodhte?
Tė nesėrmen, d.m.th mė datėn 8 gusht, kur kishim hyrė nė ujėrat
territoriale tė Greqisė. Se mesa morėm vesh ne, midis Shqipėrisė dhe
Greqisė nuk paska ujėra ndėrkombėtare siē ka me Italinė. Fotaqi na
shpjegoi se ē'po ndodhte dhe kush ishte plani.

Si reaguat?
Padyshim qė reaguam tė revoltuar. Sidomos, unė dhe im shoq. Sepse na
erdhi krejt e papritur kjo qė po ndodhte. Sepse e quanim tė turpshme
pėr tė mos thėnė tė pamenduar dhe tepėr tė ulėt tė tradhtonim
atdheun. Por edhe sepse mendonim pak mė thellė: mirė tė gjithė Malajt
ishin nė anije dhe do tė rrinin bashkė po ē'do tė ndodhte me njerėzit
e fisit tė tim shoqi, Taqi Kristo. Sepse duhet kujtuar se nė kėto
raste ndėshkimi ishte shumė i madh deri edhe te kushėrinjtė.
Vėllėzėrit e tim shoqi kishin detyra tė rėndėsishme nė shtetin e
atėhershėm. Njėri prej tyre ishte komandant nėndetėseje, tjetri ishte
pėrgjegjės i shėndetėsisė sė gjithė ushtrisė. Ē'do tė bėhej me ta dhe
fėmijėt e tyre? Po ishim nė mes tė detit dhe tė pafuqishėm pėr tė
kundėrvepruar, kėshtu qė unė sė bashku me burrin dhe fėmijėt, por
edhe kunatat e tjera e fėmijėt e tyre vetėm sa bėrtisnim dhe ulurinim
kot sė koti. Pas gati 16 orėsh udhėtim ne pamė se po i afroheshim njė
ishulli grek.

Si u ndatė me vėllezėrit tuaj?
Nė gjykimin e atėhershėm u ndava si njė patriote e madhe, nuk u
dhashė as dorėn dhe jo mė tė takohesha dhe tė pėrqafohesha me ta. U
putha dhe u pėrqafova vetėm me nėnėn time, e cila dėshironte tė
kthehej sė bashku me ne. Por pėrfundimisht edhe ajo iku me tė tjerėt
e fisit tonė. Nuk kam aspak turp tė them, se nuk jam ndarė siē duhej
tė ndahesha. Por mos harro se gjykimet bėhen edhe sipas kohės.

Ē'bėnė mė tej vėllezėrit e tu dhe familjet e tyre?
Pėr gati njė vit ata qėndruan nė Greqi. Fillimisht qėndruan si tė
gjithė refugjatėt e tjerė, nė njė kamp diku pranė Janinės. Ashtu i
kishte rregullat shteti grek. Pasi u bindėn se arratisja e atyre
katėr familjeve ishte bėrė thjesht pėr njė jetė mė tė mirė ekonomike
dhe mė tė lirė nė kuptimin e plotė tė fjalės, ata u shpėrngulėn tė
gjithė nė Athinė. Edhe aty iu nėnshtruan hetimit, sipas rregullave tė
shtetit grek dhe kur u bindėn pėrsėri pėr qėllimin e arratisjes sė
tyre, u sistemuan tė gjithė nėpėr shtėpi normale. Pastaj u gjetėn
edhe punė sipas zanateve qė kishin. Fėmijėt u regjistruan tė gjithė
nėpėr shkolla sipas moshave. Mirėpo qėllimi i arratisjes sė tyre, nuk
ishte thjesht vajtja nė njė shtet tjetėr dhe tė ushqyerit me bukė,
sepse kjo atyre nuk u mungonte as nė Shqipėri. Promotori i tė gjithė
kėsaj historie ishte Fotaqi. Edhe nė Greqi ai nuk ndenji rehat, nė
kuptimin e mirė tė fjalės. Pasi i siguroi tė gjithė ata qė mori me
vete, ai mendonte pėr njė tė mirė mė tė madhe. Sepse ishte mirė
Greqia nė krahasim me Shqipėrinė, por kishte edhe shumė mė mirė se
Greqia. Pikėrisht pėr kėtė qėllim, katėr muaj pas arritjes nė Greqi,
Fotaqi ndėrmori njė udhėtim njohjeje nėpėr shtete tė ndryshme tė
Evropės. Shkoi nė Gjermani, pastaj nė Hollandė, mė tej nė Itali dhe u
kthye nė Greqi. Pikėrisht ato qė pa aty, i mbushėn atij mendjen pėr
tė ikur mė tej. Dhe ėndėrr kishte Amerikėn.
E dinte dhe e kishte kuptuar se hapat nė Amerikė hidhen ngadalė, por
tė sigurtė. Kur vuri pak tė ardhura mė vete kėrkoi njė mundėsi
tjetėr. Pas njė studimi qė i bėri vendit dhe ligjeve fiskale qė ishin
atje, vendosi tė ngulej nė njė ishull tė Majamit, nė Killargo.

Me ēfarė u mor?
Mė lekėt qė kishte grumbulluar deri atėherė bleu njė piceri tė vogėl.
Me punėn dhe pėrpjekjet e tij dhe tė sė shoqes, Aleksandrės, pėr tė
cilėn dua tė them se asnjėherė nuk ia prishi qejfin tim vėllai, sepse
e dinte se ēfarė burri kishte, ai atė piceri tė vogėl e bėri tė vetme
nė atė ishull. Kur e pa se i eci puna, ai hapi edhe njė piceri tjetėr
nė njė ishull pranė dhe ia la sė bijės, Leonorės, e cila nuk i la gjė
mangut tė atit nga vullneti dhe kėmbėngulja.

Po sot, kush ėshtė Fotaq Malo?
Njė njeri i nderuar dhe i respektuar jo vetėm nga gruaja, fėmijėt dhe
nipėrit e mbesat e shumta, por edhe nga shokė e miq tė shumtė. Me tė
ardhurat qė ka siguruar ka blerė njė shtėpi nė Himarė, po ngre nga
themelet pėr shtėpinė e prindėrve, ka njė shtėpi nė Tiranė dhe njė
vilė nė Athinė. Tė gjitha kėto i ka pėr pushime, sepse atdhe tė
tanishėm ka Amerikėn, ku ka investuar tė gjithė kapitalin qė vuri me
punė. U qėndron mbi kokė fėmijėve qė kanė secili biznesin e vet dhe
ēlodhet me nipėrit dhe mbesat e shumta dhe u tregon edhe historitė e
Himarės sonė. Ai ėshtė edhe politikan dhe ka takuar direkt edhe
presidentin Ronald Regan nė Shtėpinė e Bardhė. Por nuk e ka harruar
edhe Himarėn qė e lindi dhe e rriti. Modestisht, por ka investuar
edhe nė infrastrukturėn e saj qė edhe bashkėqytetarėt e tij tė rrojnė
mirė e mė mirė. Pėr tė gjitha kėto, ai ka marrė uratėn e shokėve dhe
tė tė njohurve tanė, por edhe tė pushtetit lokal tė Himarės.

Po me familjen tuaj dhe marinarėt ēfarė u bė?
Edhe neve na u afrua qėndrimi nga autoritetet nė Greqi, por siē ju
thashė askush nga ne nuk pranoi tė qėndronte. Kėshtu qė unė sė bashku
me tim shoq, Taqi Kristo, dhe tre fėmijėt dhe tė gjithė marinarėt u
kthyem nė Vlorė. Kthimi ynė ishte i vetėdijshėm dhe nė ato momente pa
as mė tė voglin pishman. Dua t'ju kujtoj se arratisja kishte bėrė
bujė tė madhe. Nėpėr ndėrmarrje dhe institucione kishin filluar
analizat e ndryshme pėr tė gjetur shkaqet qė ēuan nė kėtė arratisje.
Sepse nuk bėhej fjalė pėr njė arratisje tė zakonshme, por pėr njė
arratisje masive dhe me mjetet e vetė flotės shqiptare. Bėhej fjalė
pėr arratisjen e njė kapiteni anijeje qė ishte edhe anėtar i
Pleniumit tė Partisė sė rrethit dhe qė ishte propozuar edhe pėr "Hero
i Punės Socialiste". Bėhej fjalė pėr arratisjen e njė pushtetari tė
Himarės dhe jo tė njė fshati apo qyteti dosido. Nuk bėhej fjalė pėr
arratisjen e njė njeriu tė vetėm, por e katėr familjeve, plot 30
vetėve. Bėhej fjalė pėr njė arratisje qė u trumbetua me tė madhe dhe
menjėherė nga tė gjitha stacionet televizive tė botės mbarė. Ishte
njė arratisje qė bėri t'i thėrriste kokės vetė udhėheqja e Partisė.
Por, pėr hir tė sė vėrtetės, dua t'ju them se torturat tona nuk ishin
ato qė mund tė mendojė dikush. Po edhe pa u lagur nuk kaluam. Mua mė
hoqėn nga puna qė kisha mė parė, nė fabrikėn e konservimit tė
peshkut. Nuk ma thanė drejtpėrdrejt, por gjithēka ishte e qartė. Nuk
mund tė punonte nė konservim motra e tradhtarve, sepse mund tė hidhte
helm nė konserva dhe mund tė helmonte popullin. Mė ēuan nė njė punė 1
orė e gjysmė larg ku duhet tė punoja me tri turne. Fėmijėt e mi i
shikonin si nipėr tė tradhtarve nė lagje e kudo. Persekutim ishte
fakti qė edhe pse djali im ishte i shkėlqyeri nė mėsime, nuk i dhanė
tė drejtėn e shkollimit pėr nė universitet. Po jo vetėm atij, por
asnjė prej fėmijėve tė mi, nuk pati mundėsinė tė vazhdonte shkollėn e
lartė.

Church hit by claims of sleaze

  THE Greek Orthodox Church, facing a scandal over alleged bribing of
judges, drug dealing and theft of antiquities, called an emergency
meeting of its Holy Synod yesterday as Archbishop Christodoulos, the
head of the Church, promised to stamp out corruption.
One bishop, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Attica, is to appear before
the synod today to explain claims, aired on Greek radio and
television, that he had boasted of having control over judges who
might be called upon to rule in a dispute over his appointment.

  A second bishop, Metropolitan Theoklitos of Thessaly, has been
asked to answer allegations that he was arrested in civilian clothes
in a central Greek nightclub last year during a drugs bust.

At the same time, an arrest warrant has been issued for
Archimandrite Iakovos Yiosakis, a former monk accused of stealing
ancient relics from archaeological sites on the island of Kythera
while serving in a monastery there.

He was not at home in Piraeus yesterday when police went to arrest
him. He has been charged with antiquities smuggling and
embezzlement, some of it in connection with a stint as a priest in
Chicago.

All three claim to have been close aides to Archbishop
Christodoulos, who said yesterday:

"I have only one task at the moment — to eradicate corruption from
within the Church."

After yesterday's four-hour meeting, the synod asked the Greek
Government to amend its ecclesiastical laws to allow the Church to
take tougher legal action against its wayward clergymen. So far the
Government has guarded its constitutional right to enforce the laws
in church issues.

The most serious charges are those against Metropolitan Panteleimon.
His accusers say that the alleged taped telephone conversation is
evidence that he wielded strong influence over at least one judge
who has been suspended by Greece's highest court for taking large
bribes to free convicted drug dealers from jail.

Three other judges face similar penalties, while nine more are under
investigation. The bishop did not deny allegations that he was the
manager of a mutual fund worth at least €1 million (£690,000), most
of it in the names of his relatives, but defended it on the ground
that he needed "something to put by for an emergency".

Panteleimon's appointment in 1998 was claimed to be fraudulent by
hundreds of parishioners who rioted in churches in northern Athens
and took unsuccessful legal action to overturn it.

Archbishop Christodoulos himself is under fire from some bishops who
claim that he knew of the scandals for a long time but did not take
action until the media forced him to. Metropolitan Chrysostomos of
Zakynthos, a noted liberal, predicted: "A tsunami is coming and it
will reach the Archbishop himself."

Any senior clergyman found to have committed a crime or severe
breach of ethics faces a six-month suspension and one-third cut in
pay, a synod spokesman said yesterday.

On June 4th, 2002, the Greek Television channel "High" it was
reported that a Metropolitan performed the sacred mystery of baptism
in the Patriarchal church where the additional sponsor was a Turkish
Muslim woman Ebrou Sanver. After the baptism the Ecumenical
Patriarch Bartholomew "congratulated the parents and the sponsors
and told them, 'this event that a Muslim woman has become the
Godmother of an Orthodox is proof of Turko-Hellenic rapprochement
and must become an example for everyone, so they can all acquire a
Moslem godparent". This unbelievable item was originally published
in an Athens newspaper (Eleftheri Ora, June 7, 2002). It was
republished in periodical from Salonica, Parakatothiki, May-June,
2002 issue. Orthodoxos Typos, in its September 13, 2002, issue made
a brief comment with the headline: "Baptisms with Moslem Godparents.
To this day, the Ecumenical Patriarchate has yet to deny these anti-

In Athens, the news of the Revolution provoked waves of enthusiasm.
Under the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a group of
people involved in Greek-Ottoman relations organised a visit of good
will to the Ottoman capital. Karolides, who had already been
nominated a candidate for the Parliament, was among them and
described, in his memoirs, his genuine excitement and surprise at
the magnificent welcome. An incident of this welcome is
characteristic of the atmosphere. During a dinner given in their
honour by Muhiedin bey, a Unionist figure of this early period, the
host refers to Greeks as the `older brothers' (presvyteroi aderfoi)
of Turks in their struggle towards freedom. Karolides was
unsurprised and wrote down that the Turkish leader was obviously
confusing the nationalist character of the Greek revolution with the
social character of the Turkish. Karolides replied as follows: « The
Greek revolution had been the passage to freedom not only
for the Greek nation, but for the whole East, even for the Turkish
nation».

The reference to `older borthers' should be read together with the
statement by delegate Bousios, declaring his loyalty to the Ottoman
state: «The Ottoman state is our mother. Greece is our sister». The
attribution of family terms to cultural or national bonds is not a
novelty.

The succession of the Ottoman tradition was a more compicated
affair. As a consequence of the Tanzimat reforms and the stagnation
of the Greek state during the last decades, there had been a gradual
transformation concerning the discourse about the Greek-Orthodox
communities. This developement affected the balance of meaning
between the Ottoman and the Greek as national identities. The two
terms seemed to coexist without any concern that this could lead to
confusion. The confusion still continues.
Let's start by suggesting what these terms do not mean. Greek is not
identified any more with Christian. Other Christian nationalisms, in
the Balkans and elsewhere had developed their own irredentist
discourse in the second half of the 19th c.. Bulgarians, Serbs,
Romanians but also Armenians and Christian Arabs had dismantled a
single Christian identity. Nor do Greeks identify with the citizens
of the Greek state. Certainly, after the foundation of the Greek
state and the emergence of the Greek `Great Idea'
(Megali Idea) in the 1840s, a major task of this state has been to
implement any possible measure for the liberation of the enslaved
brothers.

Yet, it is clear that the Ottoman motherland and the Greek
nation can coexist on one ground only: political identification. In
this way, it's not very difficult to perceive how the Turks are
described as the `younger brothers' of the already
politically `mature' Greeks, in Muhiedin's terms, or how Greeks
through their own Revolution are said to have liberated the Turks.
However, the political character Souliotis attributes to
`Hellenism' does not derive from a Western republican but from
ancient Greek tradition of democracy. He declares in agony: «If I
could put that in everybody's consciousness…they would turn there
and would find at the end a political system that would unite them,
a political system which would not imitate the well-known European
ones.»

On the other hand, Ottoman is
described as a mixed and pretentious civilisation of the upper
class, which distorts the character of the nation. Moreover, Ottoman
civilisation is not only alien to the Turkish but derives from the
ancient Greek one. Intellectuals (seckinler) should turn to the
people both to become familiar with the national culture and to make
known high culture (medeniyet) to the people. This high culture is
the western one. Turkish nationalism, in Gokalp's terms, combines
popular culture with the West. Turkism and Ottomanism do not
intersect at any point. It seems that at this turning point of
national ideologies in the Empire, in the Greek-Ottoman discourse,
as constructed by Souliotis and Dragoumis, Greek national identity
comes closer to the Ottoman than the Turkish one. Paradoxically,
Turks recognize the Greeks as their older brothers, while Greeks
seem to recognize the Ottoman Empire as their Motherland, which is
proclaimed by Turkish nationalism to be a complete stranger. A
rather bizarre family affair.
At the same time, Greek socialist intellectuals who, like Karolides,
were of Ottoman origin had already attributed to Turkish nationalism
a progressive bourgeois character.

to counteract the anti-Muslim agitation of the British press by
collecting first-hand information about the massacres of Muslims
which had taken place in Macedonia in the previous year. The result
was a series of lectures to the Anglo-Ottoman Friendship Society,
and a book, With the Turk in Wartime (London: J.M. Dent). The
following is a chapter.

They were Greeks from a village up the Bosphorus – fearless, self-
respecting girls who earned a modest living by their work as
dressmakers, journeying from house to house. At one time they had
gone to Christian houses only; but latterly, by Misket Hanum's
recommendation, had worked for Turks as well. As they themselves
informed me they were petted by all the Turkish ladies, and treated
by the men with all respect. Yet they dared not let their parents
know that they had ever been employed in Muslim houses. Had the fact
been but suspected in their village they would have been ostracised,
perhaps stoned; for ignorant Christians are as fanatical as ignorant
Muslims. A native Christian girl who marries a Mohammedan is killed
as a sacred duty by her nearest relatives if they can get at her.

That was true, the girls admitted; the Muslims often did kind
actions, which, however, could not blind a Christian to their utter
and essential wickedness, the product of a false religion. It was
known that they esteemed it holiness to kill a Christian when they
got the chance.

I had many subsequent opportunities of studying the point of view of
ordinary Greeks, for these girls were often in the house and our
cook was also Greek and fond of argument. I never ceased to marvel
at its pure fanaticism. They really liked the Turks of their
acquaintance; that is to say, their own experience would have made
them tolerant, but for the instruction which they had received from
priest and parents, in which they hurriedly took refuge if accused
of such a liking. They were gentle girls, incapable of harming
anyone; yet I have heard them earnestly maintain that the great
persecution of Mohammedans at that time going on in Macedonia was
justified upon religious grounds; though they changed their tune
directly it was known that the Greeks had suffered too. Some Turkish
men, who visited our house habitually, took delight in teasing them
until they showed fanaticism. Then they would turn to me and
say: `Amazing, is it not? In this century! But all Greeks, without
exception, are like that.'
The Greeks of Turkey were not always like that. Of old, when their
women veiled like the Turkish women, when their men wore fez and
turban like the Turkish men, there was no such bitterness between
the two religions. If they are `like that' today it is the outcome
of a century and more of anti-Turkish propaganda, first Russian,
then Hellenic. How many Turkish subjects have thus cunningly and
patiently been trained to be a barrier to Turkish progress, to
prevent the realisation of my Muslim khōja's dream of peace and
goodwill!

The Turks dislike the Greeks – chiefly, I believe, on grounds of
roguery – but laugh at them; they do not hate them.
`Oh,' said the friend, who, for his quiet judgments, I had chosen
for my mentor, when we broached this subject; `the hatred that they
have for us is imposed on them, a kind of dogma. They hate the
Armenians, Bulgars, Catholics with another, much more lively kind of
hatred, I assure you. If Europe would but say decidedly that Greece
shall never have Constantinople, that no more territory shall be
taken from us, those people might become good subjects.'
Among the cultured, cosmopolitan Greeks of Constantinople one
occasionally finds a cordial liking for the Turks. A Greek of this
sort who was interested in my studies invited us to his island villa
towards the end of my stay in Turkey. One evening, as we smoked
together, looking out upon the sea and the many distant lights which
marked the entrance to the Bosphorus, he let fall this strange
saying: `You cannot say much for the Turks that would appeal to
English people, for they are unbusinesslike – a fault for which
commercial Europe will never forgive them. But you can say with
truth that they are generally good and kindly while the Christians
of this country are – well, "wicked"; I can find no other word for
it.'

As you can all understand contary to Albanian worthless creatures,
the Greeks no matter what they faced, didn't loose their identity.
They respected Christ, even when they were pushed to change, they
didn't become muslims.

Synthčse qui doit permettre ą l'étudiant de se familiariser avec les
notions de base de lexicologie et d'aborder tous les domaines liés au
sens des mots : polysémie, homonymie, synonymie, antonymie, champs

 Para disa ditesh me porosi te KE-se(Keshillit te Evropes) filloi nga puna nje Komisjon me nje program njevjecar per te pare mundesine e levizjes se lire te njerezve te Ballkanit Perendimor brenda Bashkimit Evropian. Ketu perfshihet Shqiperia, Kosova, Serbi-Mali i Zi, Maqedonia etj. Programi ka si qellim te monitoroje dhe te evidentoje problemet qe do te hasen nga kejo levizje dhe ceshtiet teknike ne pikat e hyrje-daljes me BE-ne. Ne fund te vitit do te jepen konkluzionet qe ka gjasa te vihet ne zbatim sipas eksperteve te lexuara neper medja. Edhe konkluzioni perfundimtar i ceshties se Kosoves eshte lene per nga fundi i vitit. Kejo do te thote qe Evropa qendron ne pozicjoninn e mos dhenies se rezultatit aqe te deshiriuar te Pamvaresise, por gjetjes se nje zgjidhje tjater qe do ti kenaqe te gjitha palet dhe do te shkarkoje gjithe tensionet ne rajon. Keshtuqe shqiptaret e Kosoves si me te, si pa te, do te jene te lire te levizin ne te gjitha trojet e tyre mbasi kufijte do te jene formale. Ne nje fare menyre endra e krijimit te Shqiperise se Madhe teorikisht realizohet sepse dihet se po u lidhen njerezit njeri me tjatrin pa pengesa, automatikisht jane lidhur edhe trojet. Sekreti i ketij programi qendron ne ate qe kur te filloje zbatimi atehere do te duken me te vertete shqiptaret se sa patriote do te jene, mbasi me hapjen e Evropes ka munsdesi qe ti thone “Mirupafshim” jo vetem trojeve po gjithe rajonit duke u sistemuar ne vendet e BE-se.

Nje tjater tension qe shkarkon ky program eshte edhe ai Cam. Camet ne kerkesat e tyre themelore kerkojne qe me nje ligj te shtetit grek ata te ribehen shtetas grek qe me pas te kerkojne te drejta ne baze te ligjit. Mirepo nje ligj te tille Greqia as e aprovon dhe as do ta aprovoje pa miratimine e Evropes kejo dihet si buka qe hame, sepse kusuret ne kohen e sotme nuk i paguan Greqia po Evropa, per nje levizje masive te tyre ne baze te nje ligji Helen qe ata shpresojne te arihet, keshtuqe programi i ri u jep mundesine cameve qe te futen ne Greqi ne menyre individuale dhe po ne menyre individuala ata do kene mundesine qe te kerkojne ato, ata cka kerkojne shume kohe, te grupuar dhe te organizuar, e ne kete menyre nuk shkaktojne probleme per Greqine e aqe me teper sekelldisje per Evropen, mbasi prezenca e tyre kudo qe te ndodhen do te jete si qytetar evropian dhe ne kohe te ndryshme, pra larg nacionalizmave dhe akseseve qe tashme dihen. Edhe ne kete rast do te shohim se sa jane ata qe qahen per pasurite e tyre, sepse ne kontaktet qe kam patur me came me kane thene qe shume prej tyre hyne e dalin ne Greqi si ne shtepine e tyre dhe me mirekuptim me njerezit e tyre apo te njohurit e vjeter i kane mare faktikisht, kejo ka ndodhe edhe ne nje sy qor e nje vesh shurdh qe ka bere Greqia ndoshta edhe per interesat e saja politike duke e pare si zgjidhje te pjeseshme te atij problemi. Eshte pikerishte ajo kategori njerezish qe nuk e ka gjetur llafin me njerezit e atyshem apo te transformuar ose te larguar qe shkaktojne problemet deri edhe ne zenka brenda teritorit grek. Po edhe kete le tia leme kohes dhe le te shohim se cfare do sjelle programi i ri qe po pregatitet, ndoshta levizjet e reja te njerezve pa pengesa do te sjellin me pak probleme per te jetuar ne qetesi dhe harmoni.

Koha prej nje viti qe eshte caktuar nuk eshte e gjate, le te shpresojme per me mire.

Itali ka nje popullsi prej 58 milion banoresh, kurse Greqia rreth
10.6 milione.

Por duhet bere dallimi mes Italise e Greqise nga afersia e lehtesia
per tu futur ne keto dy shtete te BE. Sikur te mos kishim det ne mes
Italia do ish permbytur shume me keq nga emigrantet shqiptare.
Greqia nuk eshte vendi i preferuar i shqiptareve por i detyruar.
HALLI TE CON EDHE NE DERE TE HASMIT, thote poppulli.
Qe nga 1997 rreth 200 shqiptare jane mbytur skafeve per te arritur
ne Itali, nderkohe qe nuk dihet se sa jane vrare ne kufirin Shqiperi-
Greqi prej rojeve e policeve greke qe nga 1991.

Para ca kohesh vete Stavri Marko tallej ketu ne klubhimara me
kerkesen e shqiptareve per te paguar nje avokat nderkombetar qe do
nderhynte per abuzimet e dhunimet ndaj shqiptareve ne Greqi. Nuk iu
pergjigja se me vinte ndot, ashtu sic me vjen ndot kur kujtoj se
edhe operacionet per te perzene shqiptaret e paligjshem e te
ligjshem e qe quhen me emrin peshtire FSHESA.
Ne vend qe te merret kaq shume me politiken e madhe a me te renin
nga fiku Tenet, Markua do ndihmonte sikur te na informonte me teper
mbi dhunimet e shpeshta ndaj emigranteve shqiptare qe na kthehen
kufijve nga policia greke e perfundojne spitaleve.

Italia po u jep me teper shprese e respekt shqiptareve permes
programeve te saj, njesoj si Amerika me numrin e madh te shqiptareve
qe pranon permes Llotarise se pervitshme (dv visa llotery)
Zyrtarisht edhe Italia ka mbi 250 000 emigrante shqiptare.

Greqise i duhen argatet shqitare qe po lulezojne fushat e fshatrat
andej, sidomos gjate lojrave Olimpike ku u ofrua pune e madhe
ndertimore, ku parate e Europes e te Greqise u harxhuan pa mase.
Kur ke emigrante ne shtetin tend behesh edhe mendjemadh e nuk i ben
me ato pune qe beje me pare. Mos harrojme gjithashtu se megjithe
namin e keq te shqiptareve ne Greqi, emigrantet (perfshire
shqiptaret) kryejne vetem 1 nga 20 krimet qe ndodhin ne vend.

E KUSH NA QENKERKA SUPERGOLDI I GREQISE, kerkesat e tyre zyrtare per
te cliruar Vorio Epirin?

tregoni se sa na vlen Greqia.

PRESIDENT STEPHANOPOULOS ADDRESSED GREEK EMIGRANTS IN BELGIUM
Athens, 4 February 2005 (16:00 UTC+2)


  Hellenic Republic President Kostis Stephanopoulos addressed Greek
emigrants during the last day of his visit to Belgium.

Mr. Stephanopoulos was deeply moved when he referred to his origin
saying that he comes from the Peloponese, Northern Epirus in south
Albania and Cyprus and pointed out that he comes from two still
occupied parts of Greece. He added that Europe is a new united
motherland in which no nationality is lost.

He called on the Greeks to welcome the immigrants arriving in Greece
like the hospitable Belgium did, stressing that there are an
estimated 800,000 foreigners and the Greeks should welcome them with
the same love the Belgians welcomed the Greeks when they emigrated
there.

Upon his arrival at Athens' "Eleftherios Venizelos" International
Airport after completing his visit to Belgium the Olympic Airlines
employees held a special reception ceremony on the occasion of the
fact that this was his last trip abroad as the President of the
Hellenic Republic.
