We took a cruise and land tour through Princess. We had no idea what we
wanted to do, and there a LOT of options so I talked with the agent and
together we picked something she thought we would enjoy, and it was
excellent. I'm not sure you can know what you want to do when you have never
been to a place before, and don't really know what is there. And I didn't
have months or weeks to spend on searching things out.
Royal Caribbean also has Alaskan cruise/tours, and their train coaches are
great. We signed up for riding a train twice and the first time we lucked
out and were in a Royal Caribbean coach.
The one piece of advice I would give is to allow as much time to do things
as possible. The Tour we signed up for had us spending a night at the
Princess Fairbanks Lodge (hotel) and then taking off. We made arrangements
to arrive two days early and did things in Fairbanks for two days before we
left in the train for the next stop.
We started around the middle of Aug and the cruise ended around the end.
Many mornings in Alaska we saw our breath when we went outside in the
morning. We kept being told that it had been warmer the previous week.
On the other hand, we had a great view of Mt McKinley / Denali which is
hidden by clouds around 80% of the time. Also, we saw a good number of
whales.
Good luck.

Hi Everyone,
We are a family of four. We have been thinking of taking a cruise for a long
time. This will be our first time. We are thinking of booking our tickets at
timelytravels.com . This site was referred to me by a friend. I need to know
whether anyone booked their tickets from this site before. What was their
experience?.
Also our destination is Alaska, so which is a good family friendly cruise
line?
Appreciate your response Everyone.
Thanks,
Jenny.

The statement is not misleading, it's simply a recommendation. I've had many
many people call me and ask if I can help them because they booked a cruise
online and now can't get ahold of anyone when questions or problems arise. Or
when they do get ahold of someone, that person really knows nothing about
cruising or about the ports; they are simply an 'order taker' at a call center.
I'm referring to those websites where you do all the work, let their computer
make the booking, and you never interact with anyone. You can do this for
airline reservations because a seat on an airplane is a seat on an airplane; not
many questions about that. But it's always better to deal with a reputable
agent either by phone or in person whenever possible so you can build a
relationship based on trust and respect; can't do that with an online site. You
want an agent who has been there done that and not only can offer personal
expertise, but is there should you have any problems or need assistance. They
will also monitor your rate and should any specials come along to lower that
rate, they will get the special for you. Online sites won't do that and neither
will the cruise lines.
Since you'll pay the same price no matter how you book the cruise, it's always
best to book it with a professional who has your best interest at heart.

This is misleading statement. Most agents have websites so that you have
the option to fill out a form with your request or to call them. Or send

important thing whether you work online or offline is to find an expert who

Hi, Jenny;
First, I would never recommend booking anything online. This is especially true
if you don't know exactly what you want. Since for the most part cruise lines
requires everyone to sell the same cruise for the same price, it's better to
book with a reputable agent who can help you through each step of the way and
offer assistance with where to go and what to do. Since their services are
free, it behooves you to use their services and avail yourself of their
expertise. It's important that you find something that will meet your needs and
exceed your expectations. Online sites simply want your money so they can spend
as little time as possible with you and move on to the next person. An agent
will spend as much time as you need to assist you with the many choices
available to you. After all, they want to make sure you have a good time.
With that said and having been to Alaska, I can tell you firsthand that there
are many options available for you and several different itineraries, so it
really does depend on when you want to go, what you want to see, and how much
money you want to spend. All the cruise lines going to Alaska offer excellent
kids programs. Obviously, some ships are better than others as far as service,
food, and experience.
Keep in mind that what one person thinks is wonderful, another will hate, which
is why you really need to talk to an agent so they can help you find the best
option based on your specific requirements.

A backpack can be a helpful material for traveling by airplane but it should be
noted that there are many different limits that can be used in terms of what
type of backpack can be brought onto a plane. There are many backpack carry on
rules to watch for when traveling on an airplane with a backpack. These rules
deal with the number of bags that are going to be allowed for one user, the size
of the bag and the maximum weight that is allowed for one of these bags.
It is important to watch for the size of the backpack when getting into a plane.
There may not be enough space for people to store their backpacks into overhead
compartments in certain types of airplanes. This is important to know because in
some cases people will prefer to put their luggage into one of these
compartments instead of having it sent into the luggage compartment of the plane
and picking it up later at the luggage claim section of an airport. Also, there
is only so much space that can be used underneath one's seat for storing a carry
on. Using the smallest possible backpack will be important as a result.
Larger backpacks that are used for weekend trips or overnight trips will
generally not be able to fit in some cases. A typical area underneath the seat
on an airplane will only be able to handle a material that is about five inches
in height on average. As a result it will be important to watch for the size of
the backpack because it may need to be stored in the luggage claim section of
the plane if there is not enough space for it on the plane.
It is important to know that when traveling with a backpack that only one
backpack can be carried onto a plane at a time by an individual person.
Different airliners will consider a backpack to be a personal item that can be
carried onto a plane with ease.
The weight of the backpack and the materials that are inside of it is also
important. The maximum weight that can be used for most carry-ons according to
average airplane carry on rules is forty pounds. It can vary for international
travel though. For instance, the maximum carry on weight for Air France is only
twenty-six pounds. It helps to prepare one's backpack accordingly as a result.

We really like Royal Caribbean. They seem to cater to a broad spectrum of
passengers. We've tried other lines, but keep coming back.
As far as destinations, we like the Caribbean. Especially the eastern trip. We
live in Californian and just did the Mexican riviera, it was really nice too.

Sounds like a paid commercial to me otherwise it would not be
necessary to mention the travel agency over and over and over again.

Glad you had a good time, however your report sounds too much like an
advertisement for a travel agent; however, I'm sure its not a no-no like that.

Try www.parksleepfly.com - they have hotels that will provide parking for the
length of your cruise. Some hotels have shuttle service and some do not, but
it's a good place to start your search.

We sailed out of Ft Lauderdale in Jan on Princess, and we made reservations
through them for the hotel. The cost of the room also included the shuttle
to the ship.
Best of all, they got the luggage from outside our room in the hotel, and
after having us check over the luggage in a 'storage room' they brought the
luggage to the ship and put it outside our cabin there. We never had to
carry it. It was great. That was the 2nd time we have done that.
So, I would call NCL or your travel agent and see if they can do the same
thing.

Being on one RCCL cruise and saying the whole cruise line is no good does an
injustice to them. They're one of the largest for a reason. And comparing them
to Celebrity does an equal injustice as they are not in the same category of
cruise lines. Celebrity is a more upscale brand, the same as Holland America.
We've been on 33 cruises on most of the major brands, including many RCCL
cruises. And we've also been on the same ship a few times, including three on
the Grandeur of the Seas and two on the Celebrity Galaxy. I have to admit that
the first two times on the Grandeur did not impress us, yet the third time was
wonderful. We heard the same thing about many other ships where someone has
gone on the same ship a couple of times and have had vastly different
experiences. Crews change all the time, so one time you may have a great cruise
and the next time not so great. I've been on many Carnival cruises and some
have been wonderful, while others left me wishing I had chosen another ship.
But the bottom line is that I've never had a bad cruise - yes, some have
definitely been better than others, but I always have a great time as I never
let the small stuff bother me. And I would never let one cruise or one ship
influence me for against any cruise line since each experience is completely
different from the last. But that's the great thing about cruising; so many
ships to experience - unfortunately there's always too little time and too
little money to try them all.

I don't care how much they reduce their cost. They can't match the service of
Carnival or Celebrity. RCCL owns Celebrity and Celebrity is a much better
