Well, more research on my point directs me to firmly believe that MY Isaac
Newton Davis was actually adopted by John and Lucinda Davis. It also leads me to
believe that they were not a joy to be around as both Isaac and Margaret left
the house at age 16.......and never returned. Isaac's death certificate lists
his Father and Mother as "Don't know" and "Don't know"
Guess for me to continue on this line, I will need a DNA test

"if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and
seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and
will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Well my ggrt Grandfather was only name mentioned in the censuses for
Crawford co.IL 1850-1870 then also in Lawrence co IL for 1870-1880 no middle
name maybe his middle name is Edmund I never found it written dif.rt his name
is John B____ Davis they were known for being farmers also John was also know in
Lawrence co.IL for his bees his own son John took over the same business we my
dad used to go to his house & got honey from him YUM YUM He passed after my dad
did. I Still haven`t found anything on Edmund or his other children that was
born after John B I especailly looking for Laura J her son became my dad`s step
father Henry Harvey Baldwin born in 1882 Crawford co.IL where he married his
first wife Alta Wagner thier son Darius H. born mar 19,1919 yhe census says hiw
as 1 in 1920 I dont know when his mom died.

The Lucinda I have is my ggrt grandmother Lucinda Gilmore who married Edmund
Davis may 1844 in Jasper co.IL He was I was told died may 1881 but haven`t found
any proof nothing of his burial place either I called Lawrence co court she said
he isn` in thier death book & she lives across from the church he also preached
in as well as his son John B they haven`t a cemetry He isn`t listed in the
Crawford co IL books either. So I am thinking maybe he was visiting fam out of
town when he passed. I also came to the conclusion that he is connected to
my husband`s Davis fam who were born in Ky but moved toMarion IL abt 1830 which
is also the time my Davis fam settled in IL from Ky as well as my husband`s
Davis fam both fam born in Ky I haven`t found out where in Ky but his fam Davis
gggrt grandfather took 3 of his oldest & moved back to Ky but the youngest of
thier 4 that were born in Ky stayed with thier mother I believe that is my ggrt
granfather

Edmund. Being both of our fam have same deformed heartvalves & intestinal
problems. Both are genetic doesnt skim generations only children. Myself & my `
bro have the intestiunal my other bro the heart valve had to have stint put in
2006 My husband`s uncle & both of his sons were born with the heart valve
deformately the uncle died after his sugery one son had to also have stint then
a pacer put in the other son just had his 2nd stint put in 2005

I'm seeking information on the Jonathan W. Davis males who were in the

Carolinas & Georgia. Wife of one was either Parthenia or Peniah, last

name unknown. They were of Tribal Indian Connection.

There is an Isaac Newton Davis whose family migrated to SW Arkansas,

of the time of the Trail of Tears, after 1830. One kinfolk is a Larry

Davis of Antlers Oklahoma.

There are several Davis family books of genealogy connections. Larry's

kinfolk did publish one of these.

I don't believe this is my branch of the family. My Davis's came from
Mecklenburg and Brunswick Counties of Virginia and moved to the Anson/later
Montgomery/later Stanly County area of North Carolina.

Good morning, I was wondering if anyone had any info on DR. Henry Clay Davis'
family. He was one son of James B Davis and Permelia Bryan davis. He married
and had a daughter Jo Ann Davis who was alive in the early 1940's. He was
credited with discovering the cause of the yellow feaver epidemic in St Louis. I
would love to know what happened to Jo Ann. I know she was really really young
when her father died and raised by an Aunt. I also am curious as to what
happened to her mother. Thank you

They are all listed in the 1850 census in Crawford co.IL But not in the 1880
census in Lawrence co. only his youngest bro Samuel Davis & youngest sister
Laura Jane Davis whom I was told by a Davis cuz that she married Harvey Nuttall
Baldwin in Bond in July 31st 1881 I have her son Henry Harvey Baldwin`s info but
not found his sister name unknown but she did marry & had a dau named Henrietta
abt 1920`s the 3 moved to cal. for her husb job promotion. But I haven`t been
able to find anything out abt Henry`s mother Laura Jane Davis after she married
.I know he was living on a farm in Jasper co in early 1900`s before marrying his
first wife Alma Waggoner(Wagner) had 1 child a son Darius Harvey(or (Henry)
Baldwin born mar 1919 in Crawford co in Robinson twp. same as his dad was raised
in same area. Darius never married died in the V.A. hosp in Danville,IL. No
sibling for him.his mother died when he was very young.
I have all of the names of the children that Edmund & Lucinda`s from the
censuses for the yrs of 1850-1880 But not found them after the census es
,marriages ,children & deaths & burials.,etc.

There was a huge earthquake in USA in 1880, and I thought it might
have been a center focus in Missouri but it could have been located
elsewhere but it took casualities.
One might check that data to see if anyone was missing due to an
earthquake, where the ground opened up & swallowed a house & all that
was in it, like it did in the early 1900's in San Francisco area.

Hi, I am still looking for any info on the family of Henry Clay davis, But
thought I'd go a bit further.. My most recent Davis family carries down from
James B Davis (1811 - 1887) Married twice, last to Permeila Bryan (daughter of
Elijah Bryan)and from them came Hiram Bascom, Henry Clay, Joshua Clark,Mary
Jane, William Albert and a few others. All Mainly in Warren County Missouri. I
would love to touch base with any descendents.

The Bascom people are also of the Royalty Families of Wales. They were
at one time, of the Vascone / Vascon families of Italy and France, and
the name is spelled as: Bascombe / Vasquez and other spellings depending
on the language spoken by those who would conquer a land & it's people,
and their descendants were first emigrants to certain parts of the
13-colonies of North America, but surely some of them went to the lands
south of the border of North America because from those lands came the
Spaniards with a language where the spelling of Bascom was Vasquez.

They would arrive in 1600's, at the Welsh Tract of Pennsylvania Colony
and be re-directed for Military Purposes, to any parts where they were
needed. Some of their descendants were sent to marry into the tribal
people, after 1775 or some could have already been married into the
tribal people.

Information is under the heading of 13-Colonies until after 1787, when
the establishment of the USA began.

Plantations were first established by early 1600's with names of their
own, then it was Colonized, then went into joining the statehood.

You will find Davis families in North Carolina. The library in Salisbury
North Carolina and it's genealogy department can be helpful. They charge
$10 per search and provide printed pages, 10 pages for the search and
the $10. I have them searching for my Davis ancestry connections too.

I'd love to compare Davis ancestry lineage and notes I have even on
the Bascom peoplel.

The Clark name is a married name. I'm a widow, recently. I have Davis
people on both sides of my family, from the Carolina / 13-Colonies.
That's a branch which I am most interested in, and have contacted the
library in Salisbury of their genealogy / history dept...and they are
submitting documents to me, to see if I can make some type of connection
to when they lived in that area.

The Clark fam from Green co.Ky is my grandmother-inlaw`s niece married name I
have been in touch with him all of the time passing info of OUR DAVIS kin
becausehis grandmother is a sister to my grandmother-in-law she is Lucy Jane
Davis,Janes,Roberts. She has told me on more than 1 occasion that we are related
. Because of our father`s had the exact wlk & my bro also. But since she has
passed I have become more convinced that we are because they also have a genetic
heart deformaties of the left valve(bent) of the heart. If sugery isn`t done
soon as first symptoms occur they usually die Which her oldest son did his 2
sons have the same genetics also & so did my dad`s father & my younger bro a
stint is put in sometimes a pacer sometimes both as 1 of the Uncle`s youngest
son. All 3 are doing well with thier sugeries.   The Clark cuz has been
sending me pics of his Davis,Clark fam & I sent him pics of my Dad`s brothers he
said now he knows also we ARE
related because of thier lookalikes. builds, etc. also.       I WISH YOU
OTS OF LUCK with your research. I haven`t found anything before 1844 land deeds
of my ggrt but nothing before that & def nothing of his father or brothers. But
am thinking could be a Wm Davis.  Someone wrote me from the davis group saying
they think Edmund is my ggrt Granpa`s his middle name so That is a poss. being
I haven`t found anything under the name Edmund except marriage & land deeds so

The Clark name is a married name. I'm a widow, recently. I have Davis
people on both sides of my family, from the Carolina / 13-Colonies.
That's a branch which I am most interested in, and have contacted the
library in Salisbury of their genealogy / history dept...and they are
submitting documents to me, to see if I can make some type of connection
to when they lived in that area.

Much information is located under the Forestry documentation and
of the military records from 1750's forward. Information can be located
also, in the titlement of 13-Colonies, and of each of the plantations,
which were begun early 1600's. In the Dept of Interior / Forestry are
some records too. I was tracing some people in Pennsylvania and located
them in this category.

And much Davis information can be located in census records, graveyard
sites,Wills & Probates. Some history might have been written in the
spanish language too. Some people have found this to be so, in the SE
part of North America, southern states. It would take an interpreter
to decipher it.

The Creek / Cherokee mixed blood married Spanish & Seminole people,
and in this was more mixed blood of other nationalities.

I am of a John Davis from 1760's or later who married a Sarah Oxford,
and lived in North Carolina; and I am from a Jonathan W. Davis from
North Carolina, possibly after or about 1780's. Don't have any info
of them before that; but suspect that they are part of the Davis /
David people and Morgan people who arrived from Wales in 1680's,
and stayed there awhile in the Welsh Tract then were reassigned else-
where.

The Clark name is connected to the explorers of Lewis & Clark, very
prominent people. It can be spelled Klerk and other spellings...just
like Davis is spelled so many ways: Davies, Davys, Daffidd, Daffudd,
Dawes, David, etc. depending on the language of the people who would
conquer a land & it's people. Their language was injected into which
ever group of people who were upon a land when they were conquered,
and became part of the society of those who conquered them, just like
the Europeans invaded North American Eastern Seaboard, to gain control
of all the land and the people of North America, and the old chiefs
would pass away & new ones took their place, and these younger ones
after 1780 were of European (White) and American Tribal (Indian)
Connection, long before they were required to relocate to the land
West of the Mississippi River.

You might want to examine some of the tribal rolls. There were several
of them, before they were sent Westward, and there was a final roll call,
1896-1906, the Dawes Rolls. There are copies of actual rolls with the
Bureau of Indian Affairs or with the separate tribal nations.

Well then Your Clark is kin to my Clark/Davis kin. Also my grandmother-in-law is
Cherokee thru her mother`s side of the fam they lived in what became Tn after
the War. Her tribes were mostly massacred by the French her direct fam survived
becuse of those caves that not too many knew abt. untill after the Civil war
when they were used to get out of the weather durring thier travels going west
to Ky & Tn by Daniel Boone & Davy Crockett.Whom I am suppose to be connected to
thru our ancestors before leaving Pa  going to the western states of the
Appalachians  which has been told by Davy & Daniel. I am for sure related to
Daniel thru his youngest son Nathaniel Boon. on my mother`s father`s fam Arthurs
, My mom`s both fam lived in N.C. in the 1700`s. same counties in N.C.

ever group of people who were upon a land when they were conquered,
and became part of the society of those who conquered them, just like
the Europeans invaded North American Eastern Seaboard, to gain control
of all the land and the people of North America, and the old chiefs
would pass away & new ones took their place, and these younger ones
after 1780 were of European (White) and American Tribal (Indian)
Connection, long before they were required to relocate to the land

I am researching my Davis Family (and allied families) in Ringgold, GA from abt
1840 to 1930. They have records connecting them to Rowan and Union counties in
North Carolinafrom 1811 to almost 1840 and in Union County (marriage) abt 1853.
They married: Sutley, Yarborough, Allison, and Boyd families.

Anyone connected, please contact me!

It was believed I was from the Johnathan W Davis family of North Carolina
too..... do you have more on him and the lineage from him down?-Aaron

I still live here, well near there. I am descended from the 'stayers', but
several members of the family I descend from did locate further south and west
around the 1830's. Please send names. My Davis arrived here in the mid 1790's
from Mecklenburg and Brunswick counties, Virginia. I'm seeking a link to there.
But I would be glad to help anyone who can connect themselves to "Anson" in the
years between the late 1700's to the 1840's. Anson became smaller over the years
but once contained what is now Montgomery, Stanly, Union and Richmond counties.
Some of the Davis's spilled over into Mecklenburg and 2 to Cumberland counties
as well.

When researching Davis / David people, one must also check their Cherokee
Heritage / Rolls taken before 1830 to see if they are on any Roll Listings
and also, the Cherokee Headquarters was in Eastern Tennessee, before 1880's
and then it moved to Georgia at some point, and all families were required
to go there to get permission to travel across or into other tribal areas
which are not of their own tribe, as they were preparing to travel west-
ward to reserved land.

Did you know that the Carpenter families were in charge of the Cherokee
from 1630 to 1830? And that their descendants were sent westward?
Try looking and researching the ancestry & lineage of Thomas Pasmere
Carpenter. His male descendants were the Emporers of Cherokee People,
whether it was the Upper Towns or Lower Towns, or both, but from Thomas
Pasmere Carpenter, in Virginia by 1627, married daughter of a Chief Shawnee
and they had a son Trader Carpenter and then he had a son, Trader Tom Carpenter,
and so forth. It went from Cherokee to Creek, then to Seminole
and then Chickasaw to Choctaw, till they were intermarried into all 5-tribes who
were upon the land of the 13-colonies.

I dont know the Cherokee name it was never to spoken of aft they intermarried
into the Dutch names to protect themselves to being slaughtered as thier fam
were. The only way certain fam memberts weren`t killed was because they hid deep
into those caves  in that part only fam members knew abt them. That is why I
dont have any name to go by but O____ they are listed as the tribes in that area
by Folsom who was the sectretary of Davy Crockett. in the archives but nothing
more mentioned abt those tribes because of the slaughtering of the cherokee by
the french

I have some information on more than one Jonathan W. Davis. The W could
be for Wesley, William, Woodson or Wright. I've been going thru a
library / history center in NC to obtain documents to connect my
Davis line. I am Davis on both my paternal & maternal side of the
family, both lines were in NC. Surely they connect & I could end up
being my own kinfolk somehow or other.

You wont be the first to be your own kin  The way my mom`s fam intermarried in
N.C & Ohio then again in Mo then in IL.  My conclusion is I married my dist
Davis kin too thru our gggrt granpas.
