Thanks for visiting and/or joining Eau Claire Area Artists. Members
are welcome to post about upcoming events related to various types of
art in the Eau Claire Area, about personal projects, or anything else
that is related to EC art.
There is NO restriction on the type of art that members create--paint,
performance, pencil, ceramics, whatever. It doesn't matter if you make
a scale model of the Wisconsin State Capital Building using nothing
but the plastic rings off gallons of milk. If it's art, we'd like to
year about it.
I hope that this group can become a thriving place for artists to
network and get/give feedback.

I am aware of a few different painting options. The Parks & Rec has an Open
Painting
Session, which is free to area artists. I think it's on Thursdays, but you
could call 839-5032
and ask them. Also, Arts Coming Together in Menomonie has a bunch of adult
classes/
workshops that they offer. I'm not sure of the phone number, but you could look
into it.
Thanks!

Looking for a place to refine your artistic painting on a big scale?
Volunteer to paint props or sets for a local community theatre group,
like http://cvtg.org or http://ecct.org
They've got some talented artists who would love to have you join in
the fun!

Are you all aware of the Valley Artists Assoc. out of Chippewa Falls?
We just had a benefit show at the Open Door clinic, a new low
cost/free clinic in Chippewa. The next meeting is October 5,
Membership Meeting at 6:30 PM in the Chippewa Falls Public Library.
Neal Benham will offer a presentation on "Composition". Come and
check it out, All mediums are welcome.
The following is not related to the Chippewa Valley artists'
community, but I thought people might be interested in it anyway.
It's a Mardi Gras fundraiser that I have put together. It's going to
be a great time!
If you have any questions or need directions, please email me at
robyn@... or just reply to this post.

Please join us in celebrating Mardi Gras with a dinner and dancing
fundraiser! Dinner will include delicious Cajun food and sweet
deserts, served buffet style. Following dinner, the DJ will play
music fit for dancing the night away – including jazz, blues, and big
band.
The event is sponsored by the LGBT Community Center of the Chippewa
Valley. It will take place on Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Christ
Cathedral Church's Great Hall, 510 South Farwell Street in Eau
Claire. Doors will open at 5:00 PM, dinner will begin at 6:00 PM, and
the music will start at 7:00 PM. Admission is $4 per student or
person in costume and $5 per person not in costume. The event is open
to everyone!
If you are really feeling festive, please come in costume. Mardi Gras
would not be the same without crazy costumes and masks. The Community
Center will provide the traditional Mardi Gras beads!
Money raised from the event will be distributed between Fair
Wisconsin (www.fairwisconsin.com) and GSA for Safer Schools
(www.gsaforsafeschools.org).
I'm hoping this won't sound too much like an ad, but I'd like the
people on this list to know that I'm working on a new project called
the Chippewa Guide. It's a web-based guide to the Chippewa Valley, and
is now on-line at http://www.chipppewaguide.com.
I'm bringing this to the attention of the list because we're working
on a few projects for it that will possibly be of interest to local
artists. We have a directory of local businesses in the guide, and
we're very glad to have artists sign up. You get your own web page in
the guide either for free or for a minimal cost - the paid listings
will get you more options, one of which will (pretty soon now ) be to
have an on-line gallery of images. We're very interested in working
with the local arts community on this, so if you have any ideas or
suggestions about how the Chippewa Guide could help promote artists in
the area, we'd love to hear about it.
Lastly, we also have an on-line events calendar. You can put in your
own events in the calendar, and we'd love to have more gallery
showings, etc. listed - so please feel free.
Lastly, our graphics designer for the site has left the area, and
we're looking for an artist who might be willing to do some occasional
computer graphics design for the guide - this would be on a contract
basis.
If you have any questions about this, please feel free to be in touch
with me.
