I just voted- wasn't aware you asked us to. I only put that I didn't know because of the time. I wish it were earlier, I feel like it's a waste of the whole day waiting around for it. so if I am around I will come.

Thanks,
Tracy

Hi Dick,  As for the parsley, 3 or 4 plants would be fine.  As for the wave petunias, if you have a dozen, I would love to have them.  I'll bring you some soil in exchange for the petunias.  Please let me know if you are going to be at the plant swap.  If not, I will make arrangements to pick them up as soon as possible after that.

My mother is back in the hospital with surgery looming ahead.  I'll come out to you as soon as I can.

Thank you again for your continued generosity.

Hi Cheryl,
I have about 100 wave petunias currently in 4" pots.  How many would you like?  I can hold them here or, if I come to the swap, I can bring them for you.
Of the flat leafed parsley, there are three flats.  One flat is 8 each 6-packs and the other two are the type that have many cells for growing.  All three are pretty full of plants.

Hi Dick,

You know I'm a sucker for the wave petunia.  If you can't make the swap, I'd be happy to come to your house and pick some up.  I'd also be open to some of the flat leaf parsley if it is available.  I do hope you will be able to come.  I'm going to post a couple of polls by the end of the day to get a feeling as to who is coming and who would like to meet for lunch.

Thanks for all your generosity over the years.

In case I can make it to the event, I wonder if anybody would be interested in Green or Opal Basil, and/or Flat Leaf Parsley.  Maybe even some Impatiens and/or Wave Petunia.  Some that were here were offered those but others weren't because I forgot.  That's why I kept asking "Anything else?"   :-)

There may be other things that I might bring.  Don't ask, because even I don't know at the moment.

Hi Tracy,

I understand your frustration in waiting but I have left it for the afternoon because in the past there were people who wanted to come but worked Saturday mornings.  I hope you will still come.

Sorry to delay in answering the poll.  I'd be happy to come to the swap, but not sure if I'll make it to the lunch.  I haven't been able to collect very many plants to bring yet.  Will see what I can dig up by lunch time!  I have lots of lilacs, more daylilies and lilies-of-the-valley than I can deal with, ferns, various native plants.  The hostas can always use some cutting back, and the rhubarbs keep reproducing (their roots are shallow in my yard - but about 6 inches down my soil is devoid of most nutrients, so perhaps that's why).

I will see if I can dig up some sassafras seedlings for Kathryn.  The roots get real deep real fast, so they'll have to be small.  They do grow fast, though, and in that Broad Brook soil they should take off.

I'm not anticipating being able to attend. Sadly for the last few years it has
conflicted with no child left inside DEP'S Great Park pursuit. If we get done in
time, I would love to swing by, but I won't be able to participate.

I would love native plants, medicinal and kitchen herbs and bee plants.

Would especially love elderberry, sassafrass, and any other native tree/shrub.
Oh and bamboo. ALL types.

I have rabbit poo, daylilies, lilacs, rhodendendrons, and a variety of herbs,
kitchen and medicinal. Lemon balm, bee balm, feverfew I KNOW I have. :)

I also have pacysandra, and forsythia.

Rabbit poop is good for all gardens that I know of. I use it liberally on mine. It is reputed to be fabulous for roses, though I don't have any so, ymmv :). I have been told, and is my experience that rabbit manure does not need to be composted, and can be used right away, without burning plants.

OH! I also have worm bin worms in limited supply!

Besides me, only Dick Seng could make the lunch and so we will NOT be doing the
lunch.

At this point we have 6 people who are definitely planning on attending the
plant swap. I have posted a notice on Craig's list and the Backpage website but
so far have had no responses.

Since we have posted notices, I feel we need to hold the swap at the museum as
planned.

This will be very informal, so just come with your plants and be ready to swap!
I am not making a list this time. Please be sure to connect with those who have
written in, if you see something you are looking for from people who have plants
to give but will not be attending.

Hi!

I hope all those who planned to attend are still going... :)
I just pulled a bunch of plants out of the garden... I'm bringing pink
coreopsis, purple lamium, sweet woodruff, yellow stonecrop sedum, Autumn Joy
sedum and strawberry grass. See you at 2pm!

I pulled some things this morning too but didn't get to do a lot.  I have some Hens & Chicks, yellow coreospis (would love to have some of Cindy's pink coreopsis), Rose Campion, and some other things.

I tried to pull apart some purple liatris but can't get it apart.  Any suggestions?

FYI-- We had another successful plant swap today. Although the group was a
little smaller than some swaps, there were still 10 cars and lots to swap.

I came home an dug in my garden. What a great day to be able to get in the
garden and plant all my goodies.

Once again Dick Seng came loaded with plants that he personally grew. I'm very
grateful for the Wave Petunias. I love them. I bought some last year and think
that it is possible that a few of them are coming back but I'm not sure.

Elsie, contact me if you want some of the Hens and Chicks. I only brought a few
to the swap.

For those that took the Purple Mist Flower-- I love them. They are so pretty in
the fall. They are easy to pull out but please keep in mind that they throw off
a lot of seeds and can quickly fill in an area. If you have the space, you will
have a beautiful purple garden come late summer/early fall.

Thanks for all who took part in today's swap.

FALL SWAP will be held at Dick Seng's house again.

hi friends in garden share,   missed seeing you all today and glad you had a great swap.  i had to be with a client today at vanwiltens nursery in branford.   if you have never seen this nursery it is definitely worth the trip.  it  is huge and tons and tons of beautiful plants and accoutrements.    very fun nursery.

i was thinking about all of you today  exchanging free plants.   i was  absolutely astounded at how insanely expensive plants are now.   i guess im living in the last century or something, but i think of perennials as maybe $4 a piece and a box of annuals as being maybe $1.50 or $2/ // .   my client suggested this nursery (she is not a rich person and has a small job at yale)and ended spending almost $1000  dollars to build a garden and  do some backyard landscaping for a  small suburban hamden back yard.  the lease expensive perennials were $10 and many were as much as $30/  .    the shrubs were   $25. . , $30.,and up,   and a mountain laurel was $84 !!!  I just could not believe how  outrageously expensive plants are.    So bless all of you that share plants  and work to make the group work.  You are really doing a great thing for everyone in the group , and helping all of us not to go bankrupt in order to make our gardens.

i have something to share:  my cousin don has an  eighteenth  century classic connecticut white georgian colonial house to give away to anyone who can move it off its lot in   bristol ct.    i could be moved intact or disassembled and put in a trailer.  i f   anybody knows of anyone who might be interested i can put them in contact  with my cousin  or they can contact   bristol town planner al weiner or bristol historic society for info.  time is of the essence.

Thanks for the kudos for our wonderful group.  It is definitely a blessing to be able to furnish our gardens with plants that might have been thrown out by othersin the thinning process.  Although I have purchased some of my plants, many of them have been furnished by our New England Gardenshare friends.

FYI, talking about perennial prices, I went to a garden center today which was new to me because their advertised prices on perennials were $4/gallon pot.   The selection, though, was small and while they may have been gallon size pots, the plants in them were quart sized. Disappointing. The place was in Enfield. I think it was Garden Heaven.
