Description

This group is a forum for ex-pats in Latin America to discuss healthcare issues ranging from insurance to emergency care.

Read This First: All new members and their messages are moderated. Spam will not make it to the group. We report and ban all spammers. Files and links sections are moderated too.

It's also about setting good expectations for people researching possible places to retire or live if they want a change of pace.

Topics should be health-related while keeping the purpose of the group in mind.

We do not need discussions about why the USA has better healthcare than XYZ country. The point is to share information about each country as we grow and provide real data from people living here. See the databases for more information on what we have.

Advertisments are acceptable if pre-approved by the moderator or list owner. We are in the medical device business in Panama with an extensive list of contacts so we have a good idea of what proper content is.

Be nice and try to be objective when commenting on services you have obtained. Rants that only criticize and not offering any kind of solution are really not wanted. We all know horror stories and they do have a place here if they are educational and help improve the quality of life.

Abusive language is not allowed. Personal attacks about a group member are not allowed and be very aware that when naming names, you may be held liable.

Most of all, please keep the purpose of the group in mind when posting -- Setting good expectations for future residents and providing helpful information for current residents.

We highly suggest that you read post number two, which happened to a fellow in Ojochal, Costa Rica after we left there in 2004. Worthwhile reading to give you an idea of living in a remote area of a developing country. Note that living in the city has its own problems too.

Note: We disclose if we have a financial interest in a product or service.
