Subject: NEW FRENCH DROP-OFF PLAYGROUP in FORT GREENE/CLINTON HILL - 2 to 4 year olds

Dear Parents,
Our new French-immersion drop-off regular playgroups will start on Monday
January 30th, and there are a couple of spots available.

Led by a dynamic, enthusiastic and loving native French-speaker, and her
assistant, the groups will offer our little ones an opportunity to learn about
the world around them, hear stories, play games, draw, sing, dance, dress up and
more.... entirely in French. Groups will take place Mondays and Tuesdays from
9am to 1pm (with an early pick-up available), in a rented child-friendly room at
the Trilok School on Waverly avenue (corner of Myrtle avenue).

Children are encouraged to attend both Mondays and Tuesdays, as the playgroups
will follow a curriculum.

More details:
Our winter session will run from Jan. 30th to May 1st. Our spring session will
follow.

Groups are small (6 to 8 children) to allow for an optimal teacher to child
ratio. Parents interested in participating as teacher''s aides are welcome, and
will pay a reduced fee.

Exact fees will be determined by the number of children enrolled, but will be
very reasonable, coming to less than 15$/hour, and will include tuition, room
rental, and assistant fee. Full tuition, and an additional one-time material fee
of 75$ will be asked at enrollment. Please contact me directly for any more
information. Looking forward to hearing from you,

Camille (maman to Cole, 2 years)

Hello,

My daughter Millie is available for babysitting on an occasional basis especially during school breaks. She is a Senior at the Lycee Francais de New York. We live in Fort Greene near the G train. She is warm and resourceful with experience taking care of kids of different ages. She likes to do art, reading and cooking with older kids. She is bilingual and can also tutor in French.

Camille

LIEN VERS LA PETITION:

LETTRE OUVERTE AUX CANDIDATS A L'ELECTION LEGISLATIVE DES FRANÇAIS DE L'ETRANGER POUR LA PREMIERE CIRCONSCRIPTION DES FRANÇAIS ETABLIS HORS DE FRANCE DES 2 ET 16 JUIN 2012

A l'attention de :

Julien Balkany
Carole Granade
Frédéric Lefebvre
Philippe Manteau
Gérard Michon
Corinne Narassiguin
Philippe Regnoux

For any francophone teachers or others interested in obtaining NYS certification in French bilingual education, there is an open house at Hunter College this coming Tuesday for their new French bilingual track program (see attached flyer for more information).  With the increasing number of French Dual language programs at the elementary school and soon the middle school level, there is and will continue to be a high demand for fluent, certified francophone teachers.

Subject: Loving French speaking caregiver available in September - ideal for newborn babies
vevelive
Send Email Send Email

We are looking to find a good family for our wonderful nanny Bernadette, who has been working for us for the past 3 years. Next school year, our daughter will be going to pre-school 3 days a week and I will be working part-time. So, starting in September, we won't be needing her services anymore.

About Bernadette... I don't like calling her a "nanny" because she is so much more than just a caregiver to us. We have been lucky and blessed to have her with us the past 3 years. It has been a no-drama relationship, and she has been our first and only nanny.

From the moment I met Bernadette I knew she was the one -- the chemistry was obvious. She reminded me of my mom (who is far away in France), so it felt like a perfect match for me and my kids. She is an older lady, originally from Haiti, and has been living in Brooklyn for over 25 years. Her French is excellent. She can get by in English, but is not fluent, so it would be good for the family to know some French. I would highly recommend her for newborn babies and I feel that she is especially gifted with girls. She has an amazing bond with our daughter and has helped her grow into a happy, carefree, outgoing little girl full of life. She is very perceptive, listens to the child, understand him/her, has great intuition, is truly dependable, honest and hard working and ethical. Because of her age she is also a bit old fashioned - and I love that - so if you need someone who answers her cell phone at all time, that's NOT her, you will have to trust her and make the days plan in advance with her as necessary. She takes our daughter to dance and music classes and seems to enjoy them just as much as the kids! She takes her to play in the playgrounds, she signs to her, reads her books, sits down on the floor to make a puzzle, prepares her lunch, picks up my older son in school etc. She is very routine-oriented, which has helped my daughter a lot. I come home to a clean and orderly house, a happy child and it happens that at times, my daughter cries when she leaves. She has never been sick or showed up late and her 'beans and rice' have become a family favorite! I can only rave about her and I trust her completely.

She is available for part-time to full-time work. She still works a half-day with a family on the Upper East Side (who would be happy to be a reference for her as well) that she has been with for 13 years, and I'm thinking about possibly keeping her with us for a half day depending on what the new family's needs will be.

I'm happy to talk more about her if you are interested or if you have any questions. I can be reached at718-702-2438 or you can call Bernadette at 718-774-3903

Hello, Dana,

Yes, absolutely, I still moderate the French speaking group. All they need to do is send an email to familles de brooklyn, cc:ed above. And in terms of sublet, newyork.craigslist.org is the place, and also parkslopeparents.com (a great, great resource for families in Brooklyn), and sublet.com

Nos meilleurs voeux pour le déménagement/emménagement!

Hi Arabella!

Hope you and your family are well and enjoying a beautiful spring!  Can't wait for 6/20's stepping up ceremony!

We are forwarding you this email in hopes that we can post something on the yahoo group or give these friends a good resource for connecting with a sublet and some french-speaking families.

Thanks for your help!

Best,

Dana

Dana,

A friend of Eli’s and her husband are  planning  to move from France to New York for a year stay.  They will be looking for a place to stay and some French company..
Not sure if Arabela is still connected to the French group in Park slope. If so,  can you forward her email to Eli?

Thanks.

Rappel/REMINDER!! "LE PERIL JEUNE" followed by Q&A with French film maker Cedric Klapisch, this Wednesday at the Brooklyn Heights Cinema. This event is a fundraiser for PS133, home of a Dual Language French program.
I will be there, and hope to see many of you there as well.
Best,
Marine Putman

-----------------------------------

Dear all,
Delphine and I are glad to announce that a special movie event will take place as a fundraiser for PS133, at the BROOKLYN HEIGHTS CINEMA (70 HENRY STREET, BROOKLYN), on Wed. 13 June.
It will be a unique projection, in a 160-seat theater, of a 1994 famous French movie, never shown before in the US:
"LE PERIL JEUNE (The Youth Peril)", directed by Cedric Klapisch, English subtitles.

Cedric Klapisch himself, who has become very famous with the later "Spanish Apartment" and "Russian Dolls" movies, will be there and has agreed to do that for PS133.
There will be a Q&A with him at the end of the projection, and from then, we will move to the nearest restaurant (Bevacco, http://bevacco.com/)
to have a drink and dinner. Everybody is cordially invited to join.
The movie tickets will cost $18, meaning the school will get $8 out of each and every ticket.

Cinema-lovers and Klapisch-admirers, PS133-supporters, all welcome to join on June 13!

Please find attached the official flyer.
We will dispatch it to all existing forums and canals, but feel free to forward it to anyone around you.
The Brooklyn Eagle and the French Morning website  are already informed.

Many thanks,
Claire

Hello,
If you're still looking for a camp I still have a few spots available, see information below.
Don't hesitate to contact me.
Best
Nathalie

For the third year I will be offering a one week camp  to children aged  7-9 (week II)  with a maximum of 8 children.
Every session will start with stories read in French and when available we will watch a  documentary in French about the specific theme explored. After an open discussion children will  then be invited to work on an art project
As always the focus of the camp is to have children totally immersed in a French environment, in a real home with my two daughters, aged 6 and 9, and to offer them the opportinity to  learn more about history and the world while creating and speaking French.
Every day I will invite children to play with words and record their own stories and drawings  in a  book that they'll be making at the beginning of the camp.

Children 7-9  : ANCIENT CIVILISATIONS
July 30th- August 3rd from 9am to 3pm
Children will be travelling through Greece, Rome and Egypt while  making a paper version of the Colysseum, learning how to decipher hieroglyphs, making mosaics and their own papyrus.....among many other things.
Depending on the  size of the group we will take an excursion to the Brooklyn Museum (to be confirmed, entrance fee is not included in the camp)

Hours : 9am to 3 pm , Monday to Friday
Location : Backyard of a townhouse in Clinton Hill (a couple of blocks from the G- Bedford /C-Franklin. Bus 52 and 25 stop very close to the house)
Contact : Nathalie Trovato

$370/week  (Monday to Friday) . All materials are included.
Children must bring their own lunch.

Don't hesitate to contact me for more details and if you want to know more about me see my website below.
For the ones who don't know me I am an artist and a professional teacher. Art and languages are what drive me, here in New York I give French, Italian and art classes to children at The Alliance Française and  The Language and Laughter studio

A bientôt
