The Hispanic-American Law Student Association (HALSA) at Florida A&M University College of Law is composed of a diverse group of individuals representing a wide range of interests and cultural backgrounds.

HALSA's mission at one of the nation's foremost Historical Black Colleges and Universities is unique and unprecedented. HALSA works to increase the number of Latino/a law students involved with activities within the College of Law and to encourage the participation of Latino/a students in developing and remaining responsive to the social, political, and academic promotion of the entire community. HALSA strives to promote diversity among the members and prides itself on being a diverse group of united individuals.

HALSA strives to promote the academic achievement, recruitment and retention of Latino/a and minority law students through formal and informal mentoring programs, activities. We pledge to dedicate our service to the college of law and work diligently to foster unity from within, by forming lasting personal and professional relationships. HALSA believes in maintaining a supportive cultural, social, and academic climate for all our members.

HALSA’s primary focus is to contribute to Florida A&M University law student development in a manner that fully complements the law school's curriculum. Our desire is to accomplish this in a way that enhances legal education in a “learn-by-doing” fashion. We also focus on establishing connections within the community by participating in community service activities and by networking with Hispanic and Non-Hispanic attorneys and associations in the area.


As your 2011-2012 HALSA President, I hope to make this year an unforgettable experience. We are excited to host many great networking, social and community service events this year and are glad to have you along for the ride!
