Have you recently finished your first manuscript or just completed a
business website? It's a well-known fact that a fresh pair of eyes
will often notice mistakes that you may have overlooked. This is where
I come in.

My name is Aidan Lucid and I'm a freelance proofreader, specialising
in proofing manuscripts and websites. I've a keen eye for detail,
poring over every word meticulously. My mantra is that there's a right
way to write and I always adhere to this.

Currently I'm a voluntary co-editor at "Bewildering Stories" e-zine. I
have been published widely in various magazines, books and e-zines.
Recently I completed, "Start Writing Plays" - an online course with
the Open University. In 2007, I was a movie critic for my local
newspaper, "The Kerryman". Later on this year, an American publisher,
WordTechs Press, will publish my young adult fantasy novel, "The
Zargothian Tales" (working title).

So if you'd like to know more about rates etc., please don't hesitate

He died on wednesday I believe. I had no idea he was as old as he was. 91 is
well seasoned. He hadn't published anything new in a long time but Riverworld
was one of my alltime favorite books. The concept in that series just blew me
away and still is a grand thesis on culture, time, and mortality and what it
means to be human. I highly recommend reading to your scattered bodies go to

I'm doing fine. I still monitor the group but don't have a lot of free time
with work, kids, and I'm finishing up graduate school right now. Brainfry is
definite. I still write but it is all lit reviews, papers, white papers and my
thesis. Doesn't leave much creativity, unfortunately.

Hi guys

Is it OK if I post my two-paged comic book script (in PDF format) in this group

Thanks for reading this.

Hi, everyone! I apologize for being absent recently. Busy editing my
upcoming novel. But it's all done now. Sunrise Destiny will be
released by Red Rose Publishing on May 21. It's a paranormal sci-fi
action/adventure with a strong love story. Here's a link to the cover
<http://markterencechapman.googlepages.com/SunriseDestiny-cover-Final.jp\
g/SunriseDestiny-cover-Final-full.jpg> .

For those of you who enjoy this sort of story, here's the jacket
blurb:

When private detective Donatello Sunrise is coerced into finding a Mob
boss's daughter, he stumbles onto a much bigger case. Dozens of
women, all young, all petite, have disappeared in recent weeks.
Mysterious and conflicting clues seem to point to a government
conspiracy, a mad scientist bent on global domination, or perhaps
abduction by bloodthirsty alien vampires. Nothing makes any sense.

Before he knows it, Sunrise and his hooker friend Lola find themselves
in a life-or-death struggle. The Mob wants them dead, the cops want them
for serial murders—even the kidnappers are after them. With the fate
of two worlds intertwined, Sunrise and Lola must somehow help the good
guys defeat the evil ones.

The trick is telling one from the other.

I believe I posted a 1,000-word excerpt here before, but I've just
posted a 4,000-word excerpt
<http://markterencechapman.googlepages.com/sunrisedestiny-excerpt> on
my website to give you a better feel for the story and my writing style.
I hope you like it.

If it sounds interesting, you can preorder the book from the RRP order
page
<http://redrosepublishing.com/bookstore/product_info.php?products_id=400\
> now, or order it later from Amazon.com and other booksellers.

Thanks for listening!

Acclaimed fantasy writer David Carroll Eddings died Tuesday of natural
causes at his Carson City home, his family announced Wednesday.

Eddings, 77, wrote more than two dozen novels, his most popular being
the multi-volume "Belgariad" and "Malloreon" series. His
last book was "The Younger Gods" published in 2006, said younger
brother Dennis Eddings, 70, who came to Carson City Tuesday night to
handle his brother's affairs.

Born July 7, 1931, in Spokane, Wash., David Eddings decided in high
school he wanted to be a writer, said Dennis. But first he served two
years in the U.S. Army, discharging from service in 1956 on the very day
that Dennis enlisted.

"He said I was his replacement," the younger Eddings recalled
with a laugh.

Eddings went on to work for grocery store chains, and in 1973 published
his first novel, "High Hunt," a non-fantasy story that explores
themes of manhood and coming of age for four men on a hunting trip
shortly after the Vietnam War.

In 1978, Eddings picked up a copy of J.R.R. Tolkein's "The Lord
of the Rings" and decided fantasy writing was his calling.

"He said, `This is where it's at,'" Dennis recalled.

Eddings immediately began laying out the worlds in his eight-book series
"The Belgariad," soon followed by the five-book series "The
Malloreon."

Eddings' wife Leigh contributed to the books, but it wasn't
until his fifth book, "Enchanter's End Game," in The
Belgariad series that she was credited.

"Leigh had an incredible imagination. She collaborated with Dave on
all of the books after `High Hunt,'" said Dennis. "At one
point she finally said, `I'm helping you do this and I deserve
to be on that page too,' and he said, `Of course you do.'"

Leigh suffered a series of strokes starting around 1999, said Dennis.

"The consequence of the stroke was that Leigh was pretty much
reduced to the mentality of a 3-year-old," said Dennis.

But Eddings continued to care for his wife with the help of his
mother-in-law in the Carson City home he'd owned since 1988.

"I never understood why David, with the money he had, didn't
hire someone to take care of Leigh," said Dennis.

Eddings kept his family at arm's length during Leigh's illness.

"He did not want us to see Leigh in that state, and we had to
respect that," said Dennis.

She died in February 2007, a month after Eddings accidentally set his
northeast Carson City office on fire.

On Jan. 25, 2007, the world-renowned writer was just a stunned homeowner
standing on the street in his pajamas and slippers.

Eddings admitted he'd made a foolish mistake when, while using water
to flush out the gas tank on his sports car, he noticed liquid running
out of the garage.

Wanting to test whether it was water or gasoline, Eddings tossed a lit
piece of paper onto it. The garage went up in flames.

In a room below the garage were the original hand-written manuscripts of
Eddings' novels. Dennis said they escaped the flames.

"One word comes to mind," David Eddings said at the time of the
fire. "Dumb."

In the past year, Eddings was not the man he once was, said Dennis.

The Carson City Sheriff's Department responded to Eddings'
Bonanza Drive home four times in August. The dispatch logs indicate
Eddings was disoriented.

"He had been ill with dementia for a long time but he was on a very
fast downhill slide since last September," said Dennis. "He had
24-hour care. His death did not come as a surprise."

In his final months Eddings was working on a manuscript unlike anything
he'd ever written. It remains incomplete, said Dennis.

"It was very, very different. I wouldn't call it exactly a
satire of fantasy but it sure plays with the genre," said Dennis.

He said all of Eddings' manuscripts, including the unfinished work,
will go to his alma mater, Reed College in Portland, Ore.

Asked what his brother would want people to remember about him, Dennis
didn't hesitate.

"Dave was a very, very private person," he said. "But that
he was a good writer who loved to tell good stories."

Eddings is survived by his brother, sister, Kay Cox of Wenatchee, Wash.,
and half-brother, Richard Blake of Kingsland, Ga.

Honoring David's request, there will be no public services, said
Dennis.

"David was a brilliant and unique human being who will be very much
missed by those of us who knew him. But for us and his many readers, his
voice is still at hand, ready to ring vibrantly once more by the simple
and vital act of opening one of his books," said Eddings'
sister-in-law, Jane Eddings, in an e-mail. "For that legacy, we are
all thankful."

I just saw this on my yahoo site, how sad. I loved th ebelgariad and Melorian
series... He did write great characters. We are losing some of the truly
factastic writers that have inspired us all. Peace be with him and his family.
Blessed be.. Yvette

I started reading it, but it was too... Cinderella meets a vampire for me. I
quit reading it. It's not engaging enough for me, and the heroine was too
passive.

I also started it but couldn't buy into it. It has been many, many years since I
was 16 or 17, and the social garbage that goes with being a high schooler still
bugs me. The romantic thread was too pedophile-ish for me, also: someone who has
lived for 400 years is genuinely and romantically interested in a 17 year old?
Come on, who ya kidding?

Hi all, I just learned something new this past week. I moved to Swansea
Illinois about 3 years ago.... which apparently is 20 minutes away from a huge
sci fi/fantasy fiction convention that occurs annually in Collinsville, Il. I
have been much absent of late over the last few years and thanks to Jeff this
site has kept going .....

I miss my old dungeon a bit. Let me dust off some cobwebs and whisk away the
dirt and grime, and then we'll have a sit down and get reaquainted.

If any of you know about archon or have attended int eh past, let me know. I
may try to attend this year.

I'm pleased to announce that my short story, Harvey-467 Makes a
Bride is being released on Thursday, Sept. 3, by Red Rose Publishing
<http://redrosepublishing.com/> . It's a futuristic sci-fi story and
it's only 99 cents. To order, go to the order page
<http://redrosepublishing.com/bookstore/product_info.php?products_id=410\
> . Here's the blurb and a short excerpt:

Harvey-467 is a typical 25th century android--blond, blue-eyed, and
perfect in every way. Except he's constrained by his programming. He
yearns to be creative, but it's impossible. Everything in his life
is planned, deliberate, precise.

One day he concludes that it's time to get married, to have a soul mate
with which to share his life. So he custom-orders a bride from a
catalog: beautiful, talented, and equally perfect.

And that's when everything goes terribly wrong.

Excerpt:

When consciousness resumed, he checked his internal chrono and was
stunned to find that 1.86 hours had elapsed since shutdown. It was well
past midnight.

Wow, my cortex must really have gotten hot if it took this long to cool
down to safe levels.

He became aware of his surroundings. But how did I get from the living
room to the back porch?

I wonder what Maya must have thought when I froze up. She was so angry I
wouldn't be surprised if she went on for ten minutes before
noticing.

He chuckled at the image of her berating the back of his inanimate head,
and then becoming twice as incensed that he hadn't heard a word
she'd said all that time.

She must have been so mad she carried me out here. Well, I guess I'd
better get it over with. I hope she didn't lock me out.

He sighed and tried the door handle. It turned.

What he saw in the living room shocked him to the processor core. There
lay Maya, her beautiful face smashed flat and her cortex spilling out of
massive rends in her cranium plate. The spark of sentience was gone from
her lovely green eyes. Red hydraulic fluid had leaked all over the mint
green Berber carpet she'd insisted on buying. More had sprayed the
walls and ceiling.

But how? Who? What happened here? Who would murder an android—and
why?

Mark.

My third novel, Sunrise Destiny, was released on May 21. Since then,
I've received two reviews, both glowing. Here's a link
<http://www.coffeetimeromance.com/BookReviews/sunrisedestiny.html> to
the latest review, by Regina at Coffee Time Romance & More. To quote the
best part:

This has to be the most entertaining book I've read this month; I
absolutely loved it! I began to get an inkling that the story was set in
the future because of some of the scifi type gadgets Sunrise had, but I
never imagined until I got about a quarter of a way into the story that
it would also end up being one heck of a scifi adventure as well.
Private eye type stories are usually not my thing at all, but this book
could fit into a number of different genres very well, and I think the
cross genre elements are what really make the story work. I loved how
Sunrise respects Lola in spite of the fact that she is a hooker, which
you do not often see in fiction, usually the hooker is the bad girl, but
in this story she is one of the heroes. I really liked that. The world
building is extraordinary and really pulls the story together. I know
this is one book I'll be reading over and over. I cannot say
enough good things about this book, and I encourage everyone to go out
and get a copy today, it is well worth the money spent!

So what are you waiting for? Hurry up and buy it already! 8^} Here's the

Hello, I was looking over the site, I wish to welcome new members to the group,
it has not been real active lately, it is an old group and many of our members
like me are living very busy lives. I would love to see the group thrive again
with fresh new faces and some of our older members. I have been on a long hiatus
due to acquisition of my masters and now that that is complete, I can refocus my
reading efforts on fun. Mark, congratulations on your book that came and out and
the good reviews. The same goes for other authors who have found success.

I am rereading the Memory, Sorrow and Thorn series by Tad Williams and am
enjoying it.

I hope to find new books to read that will reinspire my fantasy fiction roots
again. I am not into vampireology too much yet. I am sure the twilight series
is great and will eventually pick it up but I need something else to sink my
teeth into now. I scan the titles at eh bookstaore every time i go in but have
yet to be drawn to something in particular. I will not give up though, I will
find something good soon.

Again, welcome and hope all of you are doing well.

Sames goes for me, too, Yve. I'm finishing up my master's degree in public
administration and we are expecting another baby on Nov 9th, so it has been
keeping me pretty busy, with little time to keep the group active and going.

HOpefully someone can get some dicussion going and get back to where we were
when everyone was participating on a regular basis.

Yvette and Matt,

It has also been a long time since I have been able to get here. Life sure has
been busy and it married life is better the second time around. I'm still
writing just about everyday.

Plus, I'm still working a full time job, but Ben at the moment isn't. He was
laid off in April.
