Last summer, I bought a Mission-style computer desk for $25.00 at a
Goodwill store, with the intention of eventually putting it next to my
corner computer tower, and have all of my computers (toys) in one
place. Recently (this past Friday) I bought an entertainment center,
at the local Meijer store, that's roughly 57" wide, and while
measuring the available space prior to purchace, I noticed that it may
be a fairly tight fit, to get all three pieces of furniture placed on
the same wall.
One option I'm thinking of, in this case, is to modify the
Mission-style desk...essentially taking a bit out of its width, so
that it'll fit between the entertainment center and the corner tower.
Which of three possibilities would be best, for this situation?
1) Carefully measure and cut away the "excess" wood in just the right
places, so as to retain the full width of the keyboard tray, and
re-veneer/re-stain as needed.
2) Measure, and buy new wood to cut to the proper lengths to shorten
the desk width, and retain the drawer/keyboard tray otherwise.
3) Re-donate the Mission-style desk, and buy something else that'll
fit in the available space.
