Don’t Settle For Average
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil 4:13
What does the word “average” mean? 1. An intermediate level or degree; 2.
The usual or ordinary kind or quality. You could define “average” as the
best of the worst, or the worst of the best. Is that what you’re willing to
settle for?
If not, are you willing forfeit the safety of being what you are, in order to
become what God wants you to be. Helen Keller, who was born both blind and
deaf, wrote: “The only thing that's worse than being blind is having sight,
but no vision.” The danger and the surety of not attempting to better
yourself
is that you’ll usually succeed in stagnating where you are. Therefore, ask
yourself this question: “What do I desire in 2006 that will motivate me to do
something I’ve never done before, in order to get it?”
Are you willing to improve your relationship with God and establish a dynamic
prayer life? Will you read His Word and obey His teachings? Do you need to
pursue an academic degree in order qualify for a better business opportunity
or perhaps you need to work on your marriage.
When doing something you’ve never done before consider these:
Listening to the Holy Spirit: Stay tuned to God's will and leading in
your life.
Directing your focus: Make sure what you’re attempting to do is for God
’s glory, not yours.
Setting goals: Establish a plan to reach them and become accountable.
Coming to grips with old fears: When you confront them, you’ll
discover that there’s incredible rewards beyond them.
A higher calling: Devote your life to something greater than yourself
and you’ll be blessed as you do it.
Value yourself: Look in your mirror and respect what you’re becoming
and love YOURSELF for it.
Do you have “sight, but no vision,” or are you ready to “do something
you’
ve never done before?” 2005 is forever gone, and 2007 isn’t here yet.
Therefore, that leaves this year for you to get going. As you go forward listen
to
God as He whispers, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am
your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My
righteous right hand.”(Isa 41:10)
