Anyway, it would be nice if Tarvek and Gil could find some common ground besides
protecting Agatha. However, I suspect that Tarvek has just realized how
horrible the Spark-infecting wasp is, and is about to reveal its existence - Gil
may not react well to that.

Tarvek doesn't know that Klaus is infected, does he? He might tell Gil that it
exists, but the full implications won't hit home for a while yet. Of course it's
only recently that Gil found out the regular wasps won't work on a spark, so he
has to have at least considered what a spark revenant would be like.

I really don't know if she ever called herself that. I hadn't given it any
thought. I guess if she didn't want people to call her that she could have
announced herself or even given herself her own fake name if she wanted to hide
her identity. Even if she never spoke the words out loud I would argue that
she's still using the name. Anyway, I read it to mean that Aaronev worked with
her in the time period before everyone started calling her "the other". I did
not get the sense from Tarvek that he was implying any actual change in
Lucrezia.

My aunt had a player piano,(now mine, it now works again cause I had it
renovated). One of the music roles was "A Bicycle Built for Two". It wasn't the
version I had been taught in school though. One of the phrases in the 1920's
music role was "One was her mother, I married the other..." . I know it doesn't
fit the current speculation on when and how the other came into being from the
person of Lu, but in funny inaccurate reversed way, it kinda fits. Lisa

Zola knows, and she told Princess Anevka (who is currently the home of the
second copy of Lucrecia and has a voicebox tuned to sound like Lucrecia).

Actually, I'm not even sure Agatha knows (the "real" mind of Agatha, as opposed
to the Lucrecia trying to possess Agatha).

More than just that... She has proven to be able to reach into Lucrezia's mind
and get info...

Fifth panel (bottom row, middle panel):
"She's learning things from me!"
"Reaching into my mind and pulling out my secrets!"
"She knew to look for this place!"
"She intuitively grasps the principles of my work!"

I was rereading the sequence where Anevka/Lucrezia was talking with
Zola/Lucrezia, and the line "Who is this you're wearing?" reminded me
a lot of David Gerrold's _War Against the Chtorr_
books---specifically, the Telepath ("Teep") Corps.

Basically, they've developed a way to move minds from one body to
another, as long as both bodies are fitted with mechanical devices
allowing this to happen. Many telepaths eventually lose track of
their original bodies, and some of them treat whatever body they're in
as disposable, particularly the ones who're full-time "teeps," as
opposed to the part-timers who do stay in their own bodies most of the
time.

I wonder if the Foglios were thinking about that? (And I wonder: if
we put Klaus on the project, could he make it so Gerrold finishes that
series within my lifetime?)

I don't think he knows that the Spark wasp has already been deployed, but he
certainly knows that Klaus is the intended target.

Anyone want to share the order they think Friday's panels are read in?

To me, it's almost like the panel with Agatha should be last, but we read left
to right so it can't be.

Tarvek's 'uh' in the bottom right panel makes some sense that way as Agatha has
been hanging upside down in front of them for the whole conversation.

I would like to hear how others read this.

There are only three people right now who know that Klaus is infected: Klaus
himself, Agatha (and Lucrezia, who did the wasping), and Zola (who found out by
the "mind meld").

In the continued Gil vs. Tarvek argument, I'd like to point out that
Tarvek appears to be looking at as less appropriate angle than Gil. As
a tall gentleman, I understand the advantage that angle of view has
when observing a beautiful woman.

Just sayin...

When I find 2 or more panels beside one, I read down the left only til
I reach the level of the right's bottom then read the right. If the
left is the single panel, it's still natural to read left to right and
down.

The topmost two panels come first -- Gil grabs Tarvek by the lapels
and starts giving him a talking-to. This causes the tentacles holding
Agatha to come unmoored, which she complains about in the third panel.
Gil goes back to the controls, threatening Tarvek the while; then
Tarvek responds.

Panel 1: GRAB.
Panel 2: "You. Your family..."
Panel 3: "If you two could put off killing each other..."
Panel 4: "I'm going to see to it..."
Panel 5: "That's just what I'd expect..."
Panel 6: "I'm not saying that she isn't a terrifying lunatic...."
Panel 7: "Well *no*...."

I assume that the final "Uh -- " is going to lead into something on
the next page.

Well spotted! I forgot.

But with all the attention being paid to where Gil might be focusing (he's
looking at her face - mouth really), it should be said that this scene is
significant on two points. 1) Gil and Tarvek appear to be coming to terms with
each other. 2) Tarvek, I think, has just remembered the special hive engine,
it's intended target, and who he last saw in possession of it.

Additional information: the Jaegers no longer serve Klaus. They can smell a
Heterodyne, can recognize Agatha or Lucrezia by voice, and are aware that
Lucrezia is the Other. I think Anevka/Lu may be in for a surprise if/when the
Jaegers occupy the hospital.

Hi!

I was just preparing to order my nice plushy HC copy of GG volume 10 when I

think I can expect the hard-cover to show up later or will I have to settle for
SC?

Thanks
