I'm prone to traveling long distances on my 93 SE and find that the
back rest really helps, a lot after a 600-1000 mile day.

Hey Guys & Gals,

I use my back rest and hwy pegs on my 2002 1800 GoldWing and they helps
especially on long hauls. My wife uses the pouch on the back of the driver's
seat to hold the maps and camera. When I mentioned changing to an different
new style of back rest she said immediately, "It must have a pouch." I haven
t changed yet, but I'm sure I'll go with the new one that looks built in.

Everyone is different. I have a back rest on my 2000 RoadStar and my son
takes it off when he rides it. Go figure....

Hi folks, really enjoying this Yahoo group so far. Can't believe
that I just now found it, been out here for years. Oh well, better
late than never I guess.

O.K. here,s what I'm looking for. I am contemplating rebuilding my
84 1200 Aspencade,s engine and I'd like to know if anyone out here
knows someone who has done so themselves and where they purchased
pistons, rings and bearings and such. As well, are there any
performance parts for Gold Wings out there? Haven't seen much in
this area myself but look how long it took me to find this group.

Happy riding, Ed

If youve ever cracked the case on a motorcycle engine you probably wouldnt
want to rebuild. If the engine is worn ( they last 200k+ ) out then the bike
is probably due for replacement and the cost would come close to the vallue
of the bike

Tony - I have been told by two qualified people that Honda rated this engine
with a MTBO (Mean Time Before Overhaul) of 250,000 Miles - And considering I
have 113K on mine and am still at full compression I have to believe this. You
see engines popping up on Ebay all fo the time for less than 500 and I'll bet
you could get one at a boneyard cheap too. Considering the expected milage how
could you lose if you find one with less than 75K on it? My 2 Cents any way.

When you get the bike it comes with an aux. plug that plugs into the
left hand fairing pocket. Plug your MP3 player into the aux. plug and
punch the Aux. button on the radio, that should do it.

Here is a fairly new safety accessory that attaches to your license
plate bolts. It doesn't require any wiring, senses when you are
braking greater than an adjustable threshold and flashes super bright
LEDs. For more information go to
http://users.tm.net/topserve/cycle.htm Your comments are appreciated.

If you prefer this safety accessory to be powered by your bike's
electrical system, a version of this option is available at

Yesterday I dropped in to see how things were going in here. I am
the original creator of this group. I had been a member of the
Goldwing Community for many years and one day decided to create this
Yahoo Group. After belonging to several local chapters and being the
First Lieutenant of a major Goldwing Drill Team for 5 years, I
decided to sell my wing and buy a Harley. A couple years ago I
turned this group over to a member named Popawalker from Texas. He
had expressed an interest in continuing the progress I had made
during my direction of this group. After announcing that I was
looking for someone to take the group over, Popawalker was the only
member who responded. After reviewing his history within the group
and his level of participation, I felt he would make a very good
moderator. For a long time he did exactly what he said he would do.
He kept this group clean and it kept growing. I had checked in
several times in the last couple years and it was obvious that he
had kept his promise. During that time I had planned to remove
myself as the creator/moderator and allow Popawalker to continue on.
I didn't remove myself.
When I dropped in yesterday I saw all the posts expressing concern
on the content of this group. After paging back through the posts I
found that the "Look at this", "New picture added" and references to
porn had increased heavily in the past 5 or 6 months.
After going onto the member's files I found that Popawalker removed
himself as the moderator back in May of 2003. I was not notified
that he found it necessary to remove himself and did not know until
now.
I apologize for not keeping a closer eye on this group. I truly did
believe that it was being well taken care of.
As the creator of this Yahoo Group I am concerned about it and its
members. I will not let porn infiltrate this group again. I banned 2
people for posting porn yesterday. I removed all reference to it and
the other posts listed above. I will ban anybody who posts crap in
this Yahoo Group from this day forward. I will check this group
everyday to make sure nobody is posing this junk again.
I would like very much to see this group continue to grow. The
members of this group have been helping each other for many years. I
intend to see this happen.
Give it another chance.
While I monitor this group for porn and other crappy posts I will
also not read about how bad it was in the past or let others post
only to pull other members from this group. I have heard the members
cry for help. Late as it may be, I wont let the degrading of this
group continue.

Thank you,
Sam

I think this group is great and hope that nobody craps it up with
garbage. Are you still riding a Harley or did you come back to your
senses LOL.

It really is nice to see a group moderator with passion like yours.
Hope this group keeps growing and improving as time goes on.

Happy riding, Vic

Sam,

Thanks so much for jumping in. I've only been a member of the group
since summer, so the majority of what I saw was the crap. I was only
responding to the fact that in the last few weeks, a number of members
have said "bye". I was, frankly, about there, myself. I'd love to have
you step back in and moderate the group, and I'm happy to lend help if
you need it at any time.

thanks for the good news

decided to sell my wing and buy a Harley.

Thank you,
Sam

Can you delete someone who is still a member? The person I am referring to is
spy_girl76. She had posted several pieces of Spam. I complained to yahoo.. they
deleted the posts, but not the user. Here is a copy of the e-mail I sent to
yahoo along with the message I was talking about.

This person has posted this garbage more than once. See messages 1885, 1884,
1783, 1712 and 1711. She has been a member since 10/21 and she has yet to be
removed from this group.

Vic,
No, I have not come to my senses. I really like my Harley and riding
is fun for me again. Not that the Goldwing had anything to do with
riding not being fun anymore. It was just time for a change. Love the
new (2 years old now) bike.

Mark,
Welcome to the group. Sorry that you have seen all the crap since you
joined. I am glad you didn't say bye to the group. I will see how
things go in here and after I monitor the group for a while I may
appoint a moderator or two to help watch over it.

Ralph,
Sorry about all the crap that you all had to wade through in the last
few months. It won't happen again.

Bluedude54,
How the heck have you been? It's been a long time since we talked. I
do remember you from years ago when I started this group. I am glad
your still here.

Adam and Pam,
Its done.

Elisejk,
Not sure I understand your post. If you switched over to somewhere
else, switch back. If you switched over to here, welcome and please
stay a while.

Just to confuse you all I have made myself a co-owner of this group.
I am both GL1500Wing and Roadking_flhri. This way I can check in here
under either name. Just for kicks I have assembled a photo album in
the photo section under "Group Owner". In there you can see my first
Goldwing, second and most recent Goldwing & my current Harley Road
King. I can handle the kidding about my Harley and have kidded many a
Harley Rider when I was a die-hard Winger. I defend all motorcycle
riders when necessary. I love all motorcycles and would ride anything
that has two wheels. I have owned many motorcycles in my 49 years and
most of them have been Hondas. I love them all and have an old 71 750
Honda that I am putting back together now. Feel free to rib me about
being a Harley Rider. Just be ready for a honest and true answer from
someone who has enjoyed both worlds.

I am glad you are back to the group.

The verbal diarrhea from porn and spam posts was a bit much at times.

Hi,
Does anyone happen to know where the audible turn signal unit is
located ? I took the fairing lowers off, tank off and still can't
find it. I bought the unit because I'm bad about turning off the
signal. Found it in the Clymer manual wiring section but can't find
it on the bike itself.

Thanks in advance,
Spike
