Dear Darfur Student Activists,
We are writing to encourage you to register for the National Student Conference for Darfur, which will bring together college and high school student leaders from across the country to strategize, organize, and learn how to effectively move forward in addressing the genocide in Darfur. Please read on for a conference update!
COST?
Some of you have expressed concern about the costs of the conference. Rest assured we're putting a lot of energy into fundraising to meet our expenses, and we will do everything we can to ensure that the conference fee does not keep you from attending. Please contact us for help with fundraising or costs. standconference@...
YOUR LISTSERVS
We have no way of reaching every active student nationwide, and we are counting on your help to get word out to students from your schools. Please forward this email across your school's Darfur group listserv. To all those who have registered, we look forward to seeing you next month - bring your fellow students!
FEBRUARY AGAIN?
For those who attended the February conference, this summer's programs will be more expansive and strategic, taking advantage of the existing network of students but also reaching out beyond college campuses. The primary goal of the conference is to organize, unify, and broaden the student movement for the upcoming year, to become a more effective force for political action.
OBJECTIVES
The conference will bring students nationwide together to: - set a national agenda- collaborate on initiatives and events - learn from each other, experts, and people in the field - critically analyze strategies of student activism for Darfur - develop skills and identify projects to pursue - learn how to reach out into local communities and faith groups
