Hope you all have had a great summer but as you
know summer is coming to an end and the semester is about to
begin. I have been giving our organizational structure a lot of
thought this summer and would like to propose a more structured group
formation. I am open to any comments or suggestions but below I
have outlined my thoughts. Please email me if you are interested
in applying for any of the positions listed or if you are opposed to
the structure I have outlined. I would like to have all comments
or applications by Friday September 2nd at noon so we can move forward and prepare for our first general body meeting (date to be announced).
During the second semester we divided into four committees Fund
Raising, Activism, Awareness/Community
Outreach, and PR. This structure seemed to work pretty well so I
propose we keep this and find one or two people to lead the work of
each committee. I will also be looking for a treasurer/accountant
and someone to lead the Divestment campaign because as I have learned
from other schools this will require a tremendous amount of
work.. I believe this structure will make our group most
effective and efficient and ensure that everything gets done in a
timely, organized and professional manner. I also believe that
having strong committee groups that form an executive board will ensure
that no one person does everything.
I suggest that each interested candidate summits answers to three short questions
- What have you done in the past to make a great leader for the
committee? (list any experience related to STAND or other leadership
roles)
- Why would you be good for this position?
- What do you envision the committee doing in the upcoming year?
