Hey Guys!
Thanks to everyone who came out tonight to our meeting. We had
remarkable turnout! Meeting notes will be sent out soon for those
of you unable to attend. I wanted to let everyone know that
tomorrow GW STAND is participating in a National effort to pressure the
state dept to take more aggressive action during talks scheduled to
take place on Sept 15th between the SLA, JEM, the AU and the Sudanese
Government. Every school across the country will be doing this
throughout the month but tomorrow is our day. Please do the
following a few times tomorrow in between classes
Dial 202-647-6575.
When you get connected you will hear a voice tell you that this is the
state dept public info line. When you hear the option to press one to
leave a message pres one. You should then hear a voice say: "audix TA
message' and then you will leave your message. Press pound at the end
to send the message. You should say
"Hi my name is ....I am from....I am glad to see that the state
department has declared genocide to be taking place in Darfur. However
to end the crisis the state department must do two things:
1. provide diplomatic support to the Sudanese Liberation Army to maintain stability in the region and
2. push for an expansion in the African Union's mandate to include the
protection of Darfurian civilians and an increase in the number of AU
troops in Darfur from 3,000 to 15, 000 by September 30th, 2005. Thank
you.
