Hey STAND, what up?
This semester, it has been decided that there is a need for a somewhat
different organizational structure of the Executive Board of
STAND Without a central leader, our administrator, policy
director and organizational liaison have taken the role of overseeing
most activities.
We would like to institutionalize these changes, to make it so that
every STAND-related activity goes through a central body. This
will help us streamline our efforts as well as make sure no one repeats
extra work. On TUESDAY at the meeting,
the Central Committee will be voted on. All General Body and Executive
Board members may run for the Central Committee.
Attached is a copy of a sample PROPOSAL, an important piece of this new
structure that allows all members of the group to write up a proposal
for something they would like to take part in through or as a
representative of GW STAND. This isn't to say you cant talk about STAND
with other people, organizations, or advocate the group to your peers
without a proposal, please do!!! Rather, it would be a means for
members of STAND to draw up proposals for things such as events,
speakers, presentations, protests, dance parties, etc. This
Committee will then discuss and determine whether the project should be
ratified, and if so this gives them the means to allocate efficiently
throughout the entire STAND group the tasks necessary to complete
whatever project the proposal draws out. Proposals will be accepted as soon as the Central Committee has been officially formed.
The Central Committee will be a more resourceful way to organize
projects so there is more productivity and efficiency within our
kick-ass, fabulous group.
More in depth description of the Committee and responsibilities as a
Central Committee member, as well as revisions to the constitution and
sample proposal, are attached. Please note this committee will have
regular meetings outside of STAND.
Again, on TUESDAY we will have elections to make these roles
(administrator, policy director, and organizational liason) into a
Central Committee. Please take a look at the consitution
(specifically article 3) and the descriptions of these roles in
preparation for Tuesday!!!
Our General Body meeting (and
elections for administrator, policy director, and organizational liason
aka Central Committee) will be TUESDAY (tomorrow) FEB 28 at 9 PM in
309!!!!
It's a hot place to be, really. If you have any questions
regarding Central Committee elections, contact Tara at tbiller@....
Thanks!
Peace,
GW STAND
PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THE ATTACHED CONSTITUTION AND SAMPLE PROPOSAL!!!! THANKS!
