TO ALL STAND TABLERS…
Everything you need to table is in a large black puma bag. You can find this bag in the Marvin Center, Office 428, door passcode 20037 (under the table to the left when you walk in). The Fair Trade Organization has been nice enough to let us share their office so be sure to keep everything together in one place.
The table will be set up by GW and should already be wherever you are tabling. If not go to the concierge in the Marvin Center lobby and tell them you had requested a table.
In the bag you will find:
- A white sign with the STAND logo etc…that you can tape to the edge of the table so it hangs down
- In the binder there will be all the flyers you will need including general informative pamphlets/flyers on the situation in Darfur and what you can do to help. Put these all out on the table.
- There is a listserv sign up sheet, put that out.
- Green Save Darfur bracelets which we sell for two dollars, so definitely encourage people to buy them.
- Green string for DarfurFAST
- Little things such as pens, tape etc…
For DarfurFAST:
- We are tabling this week and next for DarfurFAST. (9/28-10/5)
- Give everyone who stops by a DarfurFast flyer and maybe a few to give to their friends.
- Specifically you want to get people to fill out pledgecards (which will be in the bag) pledging that they will give up one luxury item next Thursday Oct 5 and donate the money they save to Darfur. (ie: coffee, alcohol, cigarettes, candy, anything!)
- Encourage them to donate the money then, or inform them that we will be in University Yard and in front of J st until next Thursday so to stop by when they can and donate.
- If they do donate you will tie a piece of green string around their wrist
- When we find out exact details about the promotional deal we are doing with Levis on Oct 5th you will want to advertise that to them too ( I will keep you informed).
- If they ask where the money is going tell them its going to "The UN-supported African Union (AU) peacekeeping mission, the only group on the ground in Darfur that is capable of establishing security."
- Here is a small description of the FAST use any of this to encourage people to come to the table. And DON'T BE SHY! Raise your voice! Tell them why they should fast.
- On October 5th, join thousands of students from across the country in fasting or giving up a luxury item for the day. Show your solidarity with the victims of the ongoing genocide in Darfur by donating the money saved to civilian protection efforts through the Genocide Intervention Network.
Be Friendly! Good luck!
