This Thursday, April 5, call your senators and have a hand in helping the emerging Sudan divestment movement!

We need your help to make sure that the Sudan Divestment Authorization Act (S.831) is passed! Recently, Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and John Cornyn (R-TX) introduced this bill, which would protect entities that divest from targeted companies that conduct business in Sudan. This bill is extremely important for continuing the momentum of the growing divestment movement.

As you may know, 7 states, 40 universities, and a number of cities have recently divested from companies helping to facilitate genocide in Sudan, in campaigns led by students like you. Divesting from Sudan is crucial towards putting economic pressure on the government of Sudan, and urging them to accept United Nations peacekeepers in Darfur.

So, this Thursday, April 5, join STAND students across the country and call 1-800-GENOCIDE and urge your Senator to co-sponsor and help pass S. 831.

Organize your campus and community, and be sure to report all of your calls to STAND! Students can have a direct impact in moving this valuable piece of legislation!
