If anyone can help house they should email Chiaki at
co44@... and if they want to attend they should email Lisa
Rogoff at lrogoff@.... It is free and they are giving us lunch
vouchers on Saturday. Part of the events at Georgetown on Sunday
include a job fair and probably brainstorming for national efforts
between all schools. I know that MTV wants to form a partnership with
all the STAND chapters so there may be a possibiliy of working with
them.
Hello everyone!
My name is Chiaki, and I am the coordinator of Georgetown STAND
(Students Taking Action Now: Darfur). I am sending this e-mail
because you have registered for the students national conference for
Darfur which will take place on February 4-6. In this e-mail, I will
include a brief summary of the conference as well as a request for a
reply, so please read it through. If you have any questions, please
don't hesitate to contact us at standconference@...!
Conference Schedule:
Friday, February 4, 2005
4:30PM - 7:30PM Registration begins at Georgetown University
6:30PM Opening interfaith service with refreshments
Saturday, February 5, 2004
8:30AM Conference begins at the Holocaust Museum
For the students staying at Georgetown University, we will be
providing transportation to the Holocaust Museum!
4:00PM Conference ends at the Holocaust Museum
In the evening:
Georgetown STAND will be preparing some events to keep you entertained
for the night!
Sunday, February 6
8:30AM Workshops begin at Georgetown University
3:00PM National conference ends with a closing speaker
This is a very brief schedule, but for those of you reserving a plane
ticket, we will be done with the conference by 3PM on Sunday. You are
more than welcomed to stay longer and socialize with students from
other schools though!
In order to get to Georgetown University, you can either fly into
Reagan National Airport or Dulles International Airport. From the
airport, there is a service called Super Shuttle that will take you
straight to GU, but this service is somewhat expensive. From Reagan
National, you can take the Metro (Blue line) from Ronald Reagan
Washington National Airport stop to Rosslyn station and take the GUTS
bus (Georgetown University's white big bus located a block down from
the station) straight to Georgetown campus. Metro fee would cost
about $1.35 each way and GUTS bus will cost $1 a ride.
On Sunday, Georgetown University will be hosting the conference on
campus, so we would like to know how many people will be attending the
Sunday conference. We would be greatly appreciative if you could
reply to this e-mail WITHIN 3 DAYS so we can work on rooms and
locations. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO REPLY IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO
ATTEND THE CONFERENCE ON SUNDAY!
Thank you very much for your participation, and we look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely,
Chiaki Ota
