What to Prepare

We ask that each university group prepare a brief statement of your
group's goals (both political goals and goals as student groups) for
organizing after the conference. We hope to facilitate regional
networking and discussion in an open forum, leading towards an overall
action plan for nationwide university student organizing.

Plan your travel plans to stay for some extra time to attend a special
cultural and musical fundraising event at a nearby restaurant!
Networking Art Exhibit and Fundraiser for Darfur - check out the
details on the schedule below.

Please dress warmly for possibly biting cold and windy weather!

There is wireless available in many of the buildings on campus,
including Sunday's workshop portion of the conference.

----------------------------------------

Costs

Please bring about $30 cash in small bills, some for public

are doing our best to cover the conference costs, we will be asking
for any donations that you may be able to give, particularly to help
us provide Sunday's lunch.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------\
----------------------------------------

Housing

We have sent an email to your hosts requesting that they contact you
(their guest) to coordinate your schedules. If you requested housing
on our campus, you should have received a carbon copy of the email,
with personal contact information for your volunteer hosts. If you do
not hear back from them, please contact them and work out meeting time
and place, building directions, and ways to reach each other.

Please discuss your evening plans and return times with your hosts so
that you reach an understanding. We strongly urge you to return
before midnight each night, out of courtesy to your hosts, who may
even need to swipe and sign you into their buildings. Please be sure
to bring bedding and toiletries, as you will probably be sleeping on
the floor. Please email STANDhousing@... regarding special
health concerns.

Note: Please remember that coordinating housing for conference
participants is complicated and time-consuming. We ask for your
patience and understanding with regard to your housing situation.
Also, please note that Georgetown students have volunteered to house
conference participants. Please be responsible with your hosts.

HOYAS sign. Follow signs to the (Southwest Quad) Parking Garage.

From Southwest Quad Parking Garage to the ICC:
1. Once parked in the garage, look for elevators to take you up to
the ground level campus. Follow signs.
**There are two different locations on campus to which you will be
led, depending on the elevator you take. If when you emerge from the
elevator you see the Leo O'Donovan Dining Hall, a fairly new and low
brick building, follow directions A. If when you emerge from the
elevator you find yourself in a short passageway with one end opening
into a courtyard and the other to a street, follow directions B.
A. Next to the Leo O' Donovan Dining Hall is the Southwest Quad
dormitory building, also new and of brick but a taller and larger
structure. In between the two is a path and in front of the two is a
three way intersection. Cross the street and walk in a direction away
from the O'Donovan dining hall and parallel to the Southwest Quad
dormitory. Continue walking the path of this sidewalk passing by a
small gas station and rounding the bend.
B. To exit the passageway, walk in the direction towards the
street. On your right, you will pass a small convenience store called
Hoya Snaxa. Across the street will be a fenced football field. Once
reaching the sidewalk, follow it to your right. You will come to a
three-way intersection with a small gas station almost directly across
from you, but slightly to your left. Cross the street and walk to the
left, towards the gas station. Continue along this sidewalk path,
rounding the bend.
2. After you have rounded the bend, you will see in front of you a
Jesuit cemetery and a modern brick building adjacent to it. This is
the Intercultural Center, or ICC building. Follow the sidewalk until
you reach the path that is in between the cemetery and the ICC
building.
3. Follow the path, pass the first floor entrance to the ICC, and
proceed up the stairs at its end. To your left you will see a large
open area of brick steps, most of them large but with a smaller set of
stairs on the far right. Take these stairs up.
4. You have now reached a large open area known as Red Square. The
main entrance to the ICC building next to which you have been walking
is to your left. Follow the outer rim of the large stairs (there will
be benches and plants) and you will see the large doors of the
entrance. They will lead into the ICC Galleria area. We will have
registration to the left as you enter the galleria. If you come
between 6:30 and 7:30, please enter quietly, as there will be a prayer
service in session.
