Dear Student,
When asked how to change U.S. policy toward the genocide in Rwanda,
U.S. National Security Advisor Anthony Lake said: "If you want to make
this move, you will have to change public opinion. You must make more
NOISE." Students across the nation are committed to doing just this to
demand more government action to stop the genocide in Darfur, Sudan.
The Genocide Intervention Fund, the National Student Steering
Committee and students from around the country are joining efforts to
hold two lobby days to give citizens the opportunity to speak directly
to their representatives to communicate our concerns at our
government's insufficient response to the genocide.

April 6th, Washington DC, Public Launch of the Genocide Intervention
Fund's (www.GenocideInterventionFund.org) 100 days of Action and
CongressRUSH to lobby for action in Darfur.
Please join students and concerned citizens from all over America at a
morning press conference featuring the congressional
leaders on Darfur - Senator Sam Brownback (Republican from Kansas),
Senator Jon Corzine (Democrat from New Jersey) and Congressman Donald
Payne (Democrat from New Jersey). We will gather to show these elected
officials that there are hundreds and thousands of Americans who
appreciate their efforts and want more action in Darfur.
Also at the press conference, we will kick-off the Genocide
Intervention Fund's 100 Days of Action Campaign which aims to raise
1,000,000 dollars and produce 100,000 letters. The money raised will
help bring security to the people of Darfur by supporting the
under-funded UN- supported African Union peacekeeping mission in
Darfur. The letters will show our elected officials that we demand
our government do more to stop this genocide.
A strong turnout will put us in the papers and the news. Our
representatives will see Americans demanding action in Darfur. Just
as importantly, people will see that they have the opportunity to help stop
this genocide by donating to the Genocide Intervention Fund which supports
under-funded peacekeepers on the ground.
CongressRUSH will follow the press conference. We will break into teams to
meet with our senators and representatives to urge them to sign the
Darfur Accountability Act and other pertinent legislation. We will provide
lunch and training before the CongressRUSH.

National Lobby Day, Sunday April 10th- Monday April 11th
Four days after the 10 year anniversary of the Rwandan genocide,
hundreds of students from across the country will gather in
Washington DC to remind this nation of the promise "Never again."
The Darfur Accountability Act, which will be in both the House and
Senate, is the first concrete piece of legislation in which the
Hill directly addresses the genocide in Darfur. The more pressure
will be put on the House and Senate, the more resounding the
success of this bill will be.
On April 10th students from across the country will gather at George
Washington University. There, they will be trained in lobbying
skills, learn about the legislation on Darfur currently on the
floor in both the Senate and the House, and recent developments of
the crisis in Sudan. The following day, April 11th, these students
will congregate on Capitol Hill to meet with Senators and
Congressmen. The purpose of these two days is to make as much noise
as possible in the ears of the legislative powers of the United
States. That noise will have a unified and clear message: STOP THE
GENOCIDE NOW.
Registration will begin at noon on April 10th, and the training
sessions will begin at 3 pm. Please plan to arrive accordingly.
Housing will be provided at George Washington University. Food and
transportation costs must be covered by attendees. However, we can
help locate funding for students who will have very high travel
costs.
