Local artists to SLAM AIDS
Washington, DC – SLAM AIDS, a nationwide advocacy and fundraising campaign of Project Namuwongo Zone B (PNZB), is coming to Washington, DC on Wednesday, April 13, 2005. The goal of SLAM AIDS is to raise $50,000 to provide life-saving anti-retroviral medication to people living with AIDS in Uganda.
SLAM AIDS DC will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2005 from 8 to 10 p.m. at the Blue Room DC, 2321 18th Street, NW, in Adams Morgan.
The event will showcase local talent in slam poetry, dance and music. SLAM AIDS DC performers include Daniel (DJ Moose) Ssebowa Musisi, Charneice Fox, Chris August, Ito, Lamot Carey, and Emoni. Delrica Andrews will host the event, which will also feature original paintings by Ugandan artist Alice Ireta.
General tickets cost $25; student tickets cost $15. Advance tickets may be ordered online at www.RelieveZoneB.org. Guests planning to attend and pay at the door should RSVP to info@.... There is a $5 surcharge for tickets purchased at the door. All proceeds of SLAM AIDS events will benefit PNZB’s .HIV/AIDS medication program in Namuwongo, Uganda.
SLAM AIDS events will also be held in Philadelphia, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and St. Louis.
Project Namuwongo Zone B (PNZB) is a community-based, sustainable development and humanitarian aid organization based in Washington, DC with staff in Kampala, Uganda.
