Greetings to all Halloween lovers...I have been searching since I was a kid in
the early sixties for information on a certain picture in a book. When I was in
first or second grade, I found as book in the school library. I don't recall the
title, but it seemed to be a very old(circa 1920s) book of stories. There were
artwork illustrations, and one has stayed with me all these years. It was
obviously a Halloween scene--night, in a typical 1920s American
neighborhood, picketr fences, etc. A boy, girl and small cat are crouching behind
a bush watching am eerie procession of beings down the street(not a parade!).
They have pumpkin heads and wear long white sheets over their bodies, and carry
candles.
Has anyone ever seen such an image? If so, how can I locate a print? This thing
has haiunted me for over 4 decades, and I would like to know who the artist is,
what that book was and what story it illustrates. Tnanks!
