Now that its September and the Halloween season is just around the corner
I've been thing about a couple things.
What is your favorite Halloween memory?
What is it about Halloween that makes it your favorite holidays?
For myself my favorite Halloween memory was of going to Castle Island's
haunted house. It was set up in an old military fort in Boston. It was a
silly
volunteer make shift kind of haunted house. It was done mainly for little
kids so the scares weren't that bad. As a 4, 5 or 6 year old it was down right
scary!! When I went as a kid I always hoped I'd see a real ghost in the
fort. I knew it was a historical place and that it was used for fighting. I
also knew people died there so I was always holding out hope that this would be
the year I saw a REAL ghost!! I have to say I never did see one but I was
always looking.
What makes Halloween my favorite holiday is the fact that at its core its a
holiday based on fear and the unknown. I love the fact that for a few weeks
out of the year we can all have a good scare, get our adrenaline going, scream
or jump but in the end its not going to hurt you. I love to be scared either
in story, movie, or in theater. Its great that for a few weeks a year those
of us who have an interest in creepy things, scary things can indulge these
interest without being seen as odd or strange. Its just a fun holiday.
Now what are your thoughts?
A : )
