       Gleanings from the Word

Experience an extraordinary God in ordinary life

Issue #3406 - Happy New Year

Happy New Year! Those words or their equivalents will be spoken
billions of times today in every language on every continent.

There is something about the turning of a year that seems to imply a
fresh start. A new year ... a new hope. Out with the old in with the new.

There will be billions of resolutions made for the coming year, the
vast majority of which will be broken within the week.

Yet what is the new year in reality? Just the ticking of a few more
hours on the clock. One more sunset. One more sunrise. A new page on the
calendar. A chance to have to remember the new year when we right cheques
(especially when we write 2009 instead of 2010 and have to initial the
changes).

I understand the desire for hope and change that a new year brings.
We all want hope and change. Yet every year the new year fails to deliver.
Why is that?

The turning of the calendar page is simply another external event.
Nothing inside of us has changed.

The changes that matter happen inside of us and not at the whim of a
date or time.

Our biggest change comes when we accept Christ. When we are born
again we are new creations with a true fresh start.

           2 Corinthians 5:16-17 NIV
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view.
Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore,
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has
come!
Without that step we are still dead in our sins. Dead things don't
change, they simply decay over time.

With Christ in our lives the hope springs eternal. We are redeemed.
We are forgiven and given God's Holy Spirit to guide us, change us and make
us like Christ.

Only Christ's children have hope. Unlike the vague promises of the
new year, it is rock solid hope. It isn't wishful thinking. It is based on
the promises of God and backed up by the sacrifices of Christ and the
character of the Father.

If we have Christ we can count on changing and growing over the
coming year. If we follow Him we can count on blessing.

Jesus is the hope of every new year. Jesus is the hope of every new
day. Jesus is the true hope of the world.

May he richly bless you and yours this coming year and forever.

         Hallelu Yah (Praise God)

         Be blessed

         Kevin

Never let the enemy tell you that you are worthless or
insignificant. You have value in the eyes of God so great that it was worth
dying for. You are a blessing to the world. You are so precious to God that
heaven will not be complete without you.

         HELP FOR THE HURTING

Open your heart to Christ today and start the New Year fresh. Be

Dearly Beloved,
OUR PRAYERS FOR YOU IN THE YEAR 2010
To God be the glory for the grace to see another year—year 2010!
As usual, Opeyemi my wife, and Boluwatife and IfeOluwa our children are joining
me to welcome you into the New Year with these prayers adapted from Isaiah
54:14-17 (AMP):
- The Lord will establish you in His righteousness;
- Oppression and terror will be far from you;
- You will have nothing to fear;
- The Lord will not allow anyone to attack you;
- Even whoever attacks you will surrender to you;
- No weapon fashioned against you will prevail; and
- You will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and, they will come to pass in
your life this New Year in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Happy and prosperous New Year!

I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will
have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted

AND TO DIE IS GAIN (Philippians 1:20-21, NIV).

"Let the Truth Set You Free"
John 8:31-32
By Joseph Y. Lee

31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold
to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will
know the truth, and the truth will set you free." NIV

Many mentally ill patients were probably suffering from hearing
voices and seeing visions in their heads. Some of them actually
thought that they were talking to God and were trying to speak
in tongues. So, I asked them to read 1 Corinthians 14:33.

33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the
congregations of the saints, NIV

That was all what I asked them to do. Miraculously, half of the
mentally ill in the hospital read the Bible and found peace
knowing that their confusion from tongues and prophecy were not
from God. Nevertheless, miracles did happen at the sign of
Jonah in the hospital, according to Matthew 16:4.

"4 A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous
sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah."
Jesus then left them and went away. NIV

The sign of Jonah was the 3 day resurrection of our Lord Jesus
Christ. Almost everyone started to read the Bible. I kept
reminding them that faith in Jesus have been the only miracle
which have continued. This was more miraculous than the false
tongues and prophecies of the Mormons, Unification Church of
Sun Myung Moon, and the Muslims. As I evangelized with the
truth, many started to become more healed as well. I was
happy in the first time when I was in Korea. As I helped the
confused Charismatics, I knew they were going to heaven with me.

               Suggested Bible Reading
For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live
to God. I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live,
but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I
live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do
not nullify the grace of God; for if justification comes through the law,
then Christ died for nothing.
               -Galatians 2:19-21 (NRSV)

                     Today's Scripture

Paul wrote, "I have been crucified with Christ and I no
longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by
faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."
                     -Galatians 2:20 (NIV)

I watched as my sister carefully strummed the strings of the
guitar. After several attempts to explain to her a technique and to
demonstrate it, I realized that another approach was required. Stepping
behind her, I put my hand over hers. "Let me control the stroke, and then
you'll be able to feel how this is supposed to work."

My sister consented, but as I started to move her arm, I could
feel her resisting. "Just let me control the stroke," I repeated. But,
again, I could feel her trying to move the pick across the strings.

Later, as I pondered this, Galatians 2:20 came to mind. My
sister was not able to allow me to guide her hands. I found myself asking
how often I agree to allow the Spirit to control my life only to immediately
attempt to perform "righteous" acts from my own strength and understanding
instead. I realize now that only by permitting the Spirit to work through me
will I ever be able to truly follow Christ.

               Anna C. Gheen (Idaho, USA)

               Prayer
Dear Father, forgive us for the times when we depend only on
our own strength. Teach us to rely on your Spirit, trusting you to work what
is good through us. Amen.
                     Thought for the Day

Only by allowing God to guide us will we become master
players.

Today's Devotional

Time For Everything
Ecclesiastes 3:1 - There is a time for everything, and a season for every
activity under heaven. (NIV)

Because God's Word is absolutely clear that there is a time and season for
everything, I began, years ago, to feel guilty whenever I used the old
clichs, "I haven't got time," or "I haven't had time," or "There's not
enough time."

The guilt in using these expressions increased, so I finally brought my
guilt before the Lord, and as we know, whenever we do that, God is going to
be totally straight with us, show us in His Word, and get us to come clean
with others and ourselves.

Needless to say, God showed me that to continue using the same old clichs
as excuses wasn't honest, not with people or myself. Also, I was making
today's Scripture into a lie. Oh boy, did that sting! After much repentance
for all the times when I'd used those phrases as an excuse for not doing
things I'd said I would, the Lord showed me how I could change. His Word
would not change; I do so love Him for that!

It took me some time to break the habit of using these clichs, but I did
it. I learned to say truthfully, "I'm sorry, I haven't made time to do that
yet, but I will." What I mean is that I will make it a priority on my time.
As a result, I formed the habit of writing things down and setting a daily
agenda that included fitting in fulfilling the promises I had made.

Until I had formed these honest habits in my thoughts, words, deeds, and use
of my God-given time, the essence of today's Scripture, "There is a time for
everything, and a season for every activity under heaven," kept me focused.

Prayer: Thank You, wonderful Lord, not only for Your Word to us, but also
for Your faithful determination to work Your Word in and through us. Thank
You for the exceedingly patient way that You go on making us more like You.
Praises to Your glorious, gracious name! Amen and Amen.

How To Handle Temptation
Submit to God. Resist the devil...
James 4:7 NKJV
When it comes to temptation, remember these seven things: 1) Never say
'never.' You never become so spiritual that you're immune. 'No temptation
has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who
will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the
temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear
it' (1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV). 2) Realise you can stumble on the last lap.
Because you haven't blown it yet, doesn't mean you can't. Satan is a master
of timing, and he's in no particular hurry. 3) Acknowledge your basic
drives. St. Augustine said, 'There is nothing more powerful in bringing down
the spirit of a man than the caresses of a woman.' Your flesh is powerful;
once indulged it will always want more. 4) Understand that you are
responsible. Sin is a choice. When you choose to abuse God's grace you pay
the price, either now or later. 'Do not be deceived. whatever a man sows,
that he will also reap' (Galatians 6:7 NKJV). 5) You're not a helpless pawn.
You may not be able to change what happened yesterday, but your choice,
empowered by God's grace, will determine what happens today and tomorrow. 6)
If you've sinned, there's hope. God will forgive you and use you again.
Jesus told Peter, 'I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail;
and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren' (Luke 22:32
NKJV). 7) Stay safe by staying close to God. 'submit to God. Resist the
devil and he will flee from you.' (James 4:7 NKJV)

God Calling

Only Love Lasts

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity,
I am become as sounding brass, or a a tinkling cymbal. 1 Corinthians 13:1

SEE that only Love tells. Only what is done in Love lasts, for God is Love,
and only the work of God remains.

The fame of the world, the applause given to the one who speaks with the
tongues of men and of angels, who attracts admiration and compels attention,
it is all given to what is passing, is really worthless, if it lacks that
God-quality, Love.

Think how a smile, or word of Love, goes winged on its way, a God-Power,
simple though it may seem, while the mighty words of an orator can fall
fruitless to the ground. The test of all true work and words is - are they
inspired by Love?

If man only saw how vain is so much of his activity! So much work done in My
Name is not acknowledged by Me. As for Love. Turn out from your hearts and
lives all that is not loving, so shall ye bear much fruit, and by this shall
all men know ye are My disciples, because ye have Love one toward another.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these
is charity. 1 Corinthians 13:13

Do not forget all His benefits!

(J. R. Miller, "Miller's Year Book--a Year's Daily Readings")

"Praise the Lord, O my soul, and
do not forget all His benefits:
   who forgives all your sins,
   who heals all your diseases,
who saves your life from the pit,
who crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things!"
     Psalm 103:2-5

What an enumeration of divine blessings is this!

Any one of them is worth more than all earth's treasures combined!

If we are not forgiven--we must lie forever under the burden of sin, a
weight greater than all the Alps! But God forgives--and forgives all our
sins--and forgives freely, fully and forever!

If we are not healed--we must be sick forever, sick with the plague and
leprosy of sin! But God heals--and heals all our evils, and heals
completely!

If we are not saved from the dangers of this ensnaring world--we never can
reach heaven! But God keeps, rescues, and saves our life from all impending
destructions!

Earth's crowns are made of thorns, and at the best are only what the
children call, 'play-crowns', for they are but of leaves that wither, or of
gold and gems that will not last. But God crowns His people with crowns of
love and compassion, which are real and radiant, which shall never fade--but
shall shine forever, becoming crowns of eternal life and glory in heaven!

This world cannot satisfy our heart's deepest cravings. Its possessions only
make our hunger more intense! But God satisfies the souls of His people, and

My Manna

"...whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13.

Despite man's efforts to eliminate Christ out of Christmas...out of everyday
life...out of government...out of schools....out of the marketplace...in spite
of it all, He just won't go away.

Peter Larson writes:
Despite our efforts to keep Him out, God intrudes.
The life of Jesus is bracketed by two impossibilities:
Avirgin's womb and an empty tomb.

Jesus entered our world through a door marked-
'No Entrance!'
And left through a door marked-
'No Exit.'"

That first Christmas, there was no room for Him in the inn.
The world never wants to make room for Christ at Christmas and in everyday life.

Man killed Him and sealed the tomb with a huge stone to shut Him out of our
lives once and for all.

But God removed the stone to prove Jesus will not be shut up or shut out of His
plans.

One day Jesus will intrude on history again.
The way to be ready is to invite Him into your life today.

Will you shut Him out or let Him in?

"Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice" (Philippians 4:4).
These are Paul's closing word to the Philippians. He wasn't saying, "I am in
prison and these chains are a blessing. I'm so happy for this pain." I'm
convinced Paul prayed daily for his release and at times cried out for
strength to endure. Even Jesus, in his hour of trial and pain, cried to the
Father, "Why have you forsaken me?" That is our first impulse in our
afflictions, to cry out, "Why?" And the Lord is patient with that cry.

But God has also made provision so that our "what ifs" and "whys" can be
answered by his Word. Paul writes, "Knowing that I am set for the defence of
the gospel.Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will
rejoice" (Philippians 1:17-18). He's telling us, in other words, "I am
determined God's Word will be validated by my reaction to this affliction. I
have set my mind that I won't disgrace the gospel or make it seem powerless.

"The fact is, Christ is being preached by my calm countenance, by my rest in
the midst of all this. Everyone who sees me knows that the gospel I preach
takes me through these hard times. It proves that the Lord can take anybody
through any situation, any fire or flood, and his gospel will be preached
through the experience."

Here is the message that I hear through Paul and Abraham: We don't have to
do something great for the Lord. We only have to trust him. Our role is to
place our lives in God's hands and believe he will care for us. If we simply
do that, his gospel is being preached, no matter what our circumstances. And
Christ will be revealed in us most especially in our difficult
circumstances.

Sam, an elder in our church, once told me, "Pastor David, the way you
respond to hard times is a testimony to me." What Sam didn't realize is that
his life is a sermon to me. He lives with chronic pain that allows him to
sleep no more than a few hours each night. Despite his constant, raging
pain, his devotion to the Lord is a testimony to all of us. His life
preaches Christ as powerfully as any of Paul's sermons.

So, is Christ being preached in your present trial? Does your family see the
gospel at work in you? Or do they see only panic, despair and questioning of
God's faithfulness? How are you responding to your affliction?

A New Thing - Teachers

Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)

18 "Forget the former things;

do not dwell on the past.

19 See, I am doing a new thing!

Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the desert

and streams in the wasteland.

[1]

Luke 2:41-47 (NIV)
41 Every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover.
42 When he was twelve years old, they went up to the Feast, according to the
custom. 43 After the Feast was over, while his parents were returning home,
the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it. 44
Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they
began looking for him among their relatives and friends. 45 When they did
not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him. 46 After three
days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers,
listening to them and asking them questions. 47 Everyone who heard him was
amazed at his understanding and his answers.

The things in the account above may not be new but they are rare. At least,
they are rare when compared to the way things are today. Could you imagine a
twelve-year-old sitting around talking to his teachers? Today most of them
would rather be out playing with their friends, playing video games or many
other things. Today we do hear of young people who are super intelligent who
have at least one college degree by their mid-teens. We hear of others who
are talented in certain areas that are eager to spend time with those who
can help them develop their talent further.

The one thing that might be new here is the way Jesus understood what the
teachers were telling Him and also the answers He gave to their questions.
Why should we be surprised at this? If they had believed He was the Son of
God then they would have known that He was the Word of God.

Jesus is the answer to all our questions. WE must spend time with Him
through reading the Bible and through prayer not just to know the answers
but to know the Word of God. WE can ask him anything and He will provide
what we need. WE can talk straight to him and not have to go through someone
else. WE don't have to ask someone else to pray for us. WE can go straight
to the throne room of God and talk to Jesus ourselves. Jesus told us to ask
and it will be given to us. Seek and we shall find. Knock and the door will
be opened.

All Christians need to have a time for daily Bible study and prayer. This
may be a new thing for you but it must be done to find out all that Jesus
has for you. Just as Jesus spent time with the teachers, each one of us
needs to spend time with our Teacher, Jesus Christ, the Word of God.

Today's Scripture *December 28, 2009*

Mark 1: 11
And a voice from heaven said, “You are my dearly loved Son, and you bring me
great joy.”

The dove and the voice from heaven were signs that Jesus was the Messiah.
Many people want something tangible, visible, and "real" before they will
believe.
So Jesus did healing's and other miracles, and God raised Him from the dead.
Still people doubted.
Will visible signs convince anyone? The "sign" that really brings us to faith
is the power of God's Message to answer the cry of the heart. To the confused,
God offers a mind enlightened by faith. To the depressed, God offers a reason
for joy. To the lonely, God offers eternal companionship. Don't look for a
spectacular visible sign; instead, seek a cleansed and renewed life as evidence
of His presence!

God we praise You and thank You for who You are!
May our lives be lived by faith in the God who created the universe and calms
our personal fears.
You are the First and the Last! You are the Beginning and the End!
We love You Lord! In Your Name, Amen..

God bless!

It's all about Light

Isaiah 60:20 - Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon
withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and
the days of thy mourning shall be ended.

Everything about God is Light. God is light and He was before creation
and He created this world because His light was obstructed (the
definition of darkness is not allowing light in). Therefore was
created two forces the Angels of God who were for light and the evil
spirits (fallen angels) who were against light and are termed as
angels of darkness.

God (Godhead) created creation that it would prosper like light does.
In space light travels and travels unless it is obstructed.

It is very interesting to know that light particles from Big Bang
passed earth just in time when man was developed enough to capture it
using modern equipment (it is scientifically proven that creation is
inline with the Bible and also the Big Bang is inline with the Bible).
By this data man could understand the stages of creation (atomic
physics) and this data proved the Word.

The Spirit of God is also symbolized as Light (spectrum of light -
rainbow) and the Son of God who became man also called Himself as
light of the world. It was through Him that we received Light (the
Spirit of God).

The Word of God reveals God, Who is Light and therefore is light unto
us. The instructions of God via the Word or directly (which will still
be inline to the Word for light from one source never crosses each
other) is also light unto us.

When we did not know God we were called children of darkness and now
that we have come into knowing Him, we are called children of light.

The Lord is telling us that this light which we have received no
darkness is dark enough to stop it. The only way darkness can persist
is if the Source of Light takes the Light away. And by today's Word
the Lord assures us this He will not do. So do not even imagine our
sins and our sinful nature is greater than the Light we have received
by believing in Jesus Christ.

Christian is basically all about distribution Light and letting Light
to work in us and through us.

  [Prayer Starter]
Lord Jesus Christ, the world was in darkness and You became the
permanent light for the world. It was through You that we too received
this permanent Light. O Holy Spirit shine in us and let the Light in
us spread to all God's people so that they return to the Father at the
end of creation...

We make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 1:1-4
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the
face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the
waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light
from the darkness.

Genesis 9:11-16
11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh
be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any
more be a flood to destroy the earth.
12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make
between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for
perpetual generations:
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a
covenant between me and the earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth,
that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and
every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more
become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I
may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living
creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

John 1:1-5
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made
that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

John 9:4-5
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the
night cometh, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

John 12:46
46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me
should not abide in darkness.

John 8:12
12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the
world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have
the light of life.

John 1:6-10
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all
men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world
knew him not.

John 3:17-21
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but
that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth
not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of
the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world,
and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were
evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to
the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be
made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Matthew 6:23
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of
darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how
great is that darkness!

Revelation 10:1-7
1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with
a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were
the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right
foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he
had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about
to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up
those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth
lifted up his hand to heaven,
6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven,
and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that
therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there
should be time no longer:
7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall
begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath
declared to his servants the prophets.

The Two, Who get the job done

Genesis 28:15 - And, behold, I (am) with thee, and will keep thee in
all (places) whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this
land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have
spoken to thee of.

When God spoke to Jacob in his dream and reiterated the promise which
He had given to Abraham the words 'Jehovah' (singular) and 'Elohiym'
(plural) is used. The Trinity is no longer a mystery for me; the word
'God' refers to the Body of God the Father. He is the Head of this
Body, the Spirit of God and the Son of God are a part of this
Spiritual Body. One can not separate One from Another, even though
They are individual yet one. Man would wonder how that is? Let me tell
you if it was simple to understand God then He would cease to be God.
Also keep in mind, in scriptures Jesus (man) referred to the Spirit of
God also as Father because as man He was born of the Spirit.

God the Son and the Spirit of God are in the forefront of the
salvation of man. This was manifested clearly in exodus of Israel
which is a shadow of the redeeming of the real God's people. In the
book of Exodus one would clearly see 2 individuals leading the
Israelites. Sometimes referred to as God, sometime as Pillar of cloud
or fire or even referred as Angel (the word Angel means an
individual with a mission to deliver a message or to do a job).

Even today it is the 2 of Them (the Son and Spirit) Who work in us and
through us to deliver us from our sinful nature and bring us unto God
the Father and then making us a part of the Body of the Son (being
married unto the Son mean being unified into a common body).

[Prayer Starter]
Lord God, We thank You for finding us worthy to be part of the Body of
the Son of God. Lord, we thank for the sacrifice and efforts that You
have done, doing and will complete in us so as to redeem us and make
us worthy to come before God our Father in Heaven. Help us to stick
unto You and abide in You so that your work in us is complete...

We make this prayer in Jesus Name, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Genesis 28:10-15
10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran.
11 And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night,
because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and
put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the
top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending
and descending on it.
13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God
of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou
liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt
spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to
the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the
earth be blessed.
15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places
whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I
will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to
thee of.

Exodus 23:20-22
20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and
to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
21 Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will
not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him.
22  But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak;
then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto
thine adversaries.

Another year coming to an end

Colossians 3:2 - Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Just a few minutes back I was reading 2 mails by a precious sister, in
one she wrote birth at one side and death on the other and drew a line
in between, our life line. In the other mail she quoted Psalms 90:12.

Psalms 90:12 - So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our
hearts unto wisdom.

Two lines before in the Psalm verse 10 says " The days of our years
are threescore years and ten (70); and if by reason of strength they
be fourscore years (80), yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for
it is soon cut off, and we fly away"

On an average man lives for 70 to 80 years although under the curse
man can live for maximum 120years. When God cursed the lifespan of man
around the time of Noah's floods; man's life span slowly and steadily
started reducing. Before the curse man's earthly life limit was more
than thousand years and hence forth became 120 years. Even long after
the curse we have very few persons who lived more than 120years, and
their secret was their lives were connected with the sanctuary of the
Lord (like a High Priest or a Levi who is considered as a priest).
That does not mean if we live in some Church we will longer, it means
if we make our bodies which we dwell in real temples, then we may live
longer. It also does not mean those who live shorter are cursed more.
Understand God's main purpose is to see us saved, therefore at times
takes us away when we are at the best state of faith we can get,
because of our hearts.

Assuming we are not great people in the Lord and live an average life,
can we look back at this life and see what we have done with it? Can
you and me, be confident and proud that we did not waste this precious
opportunity of time.

We may have collected lot of material things and made a great name
among men. This may carry forward from one generation to the next and
still to the next, after that what? All the name and material things
will soon one day be forgotten and wasted but the spiritual wealth we
have will be carried with us unto out life with the Lord. The true
wealth that we make does not only benefit us alone; it is like a
flowering tree which gives beautiful aroma. We may have the tree and
the flowers but the aroma spreads even unto the neighbors, no one can
stop the aroma from spreading.

The true spiritual wealth we collect can not be stopped from affecting
the life of others.

There was a beautiful statement I came across with regards to the
difference a true Christian and people of this world.

At the end one creates wealth, leaves it and goes; and the other walks
towards his or her wealth.

A year is soon coming to an end; another with start and that on too
will also end soon. Time will pass without our knowledge, if we do not
do something with it starting today.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord God, You are the giver of life. We thank You for this life You
gave us. We also ask You to forgive us for we have wasted most of this
precious life fruitlessly. Lord, help us starting today that we look
seriously at life and its purpose. Help us that we increase our
spiritual wealth; wealth which is permanent...

We make this prayer in Jesus' Name, Amen.

Exodus 6:16-20
16 And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their
generations; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari: and the years of the
life of Levi were an hundred thirty and seven years.
17 The sons of Gershon; Libni, and Shimi, according to their families.
18 And the sons of Kohath; Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel:
and the years of the life of Kohath were an hundred thirty and three
years.
19 And the sons of Merari; Mahali and Mushi: these are the families

15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as
the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a
very little thing.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof
sufficient for a burnt offering.
17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him
less than nothing, and vanity.
18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it
over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a
tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to
prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.
21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you
from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the
earth?
22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the
inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the
heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the
earth as vanity.

Today's Scripture *December 30, 2009*

Ephesians 1: 4
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy
and without fault in his eyes.

Paul says that God "chose us" to emphasize that salvation depends totally on
God. We are not saved because we deserve it but because God is gracious and
freely gives salvation. We did not influence God's decision to save us; He saved
us according to His plan. Thus, there is no way to take credit for our salvation
or to allow room for pride. The mystery of salvation originated in the timeless
mind of God long before we existed. It is hard to understand how God could
accept us. But because of Christ, we are holy and blameless in His sight. God
chose us, and when we belong to Him through faith in Jesus Christ, God looks at
us as if we have never sinned. All we can do is express our thanks for His
wonderful gift and for His eternal love.

Thank You God for Your love!
Thank You for Your forgiveness and Your grace!
May we live lives as obedient children under Your eternal care!
We worship You! In Jesus' Name, Amen..

Have a blessed day in Him!

Let the world know that the Spirit of God dwells in you

Matthew 5:16 - Let your light so shine before men, that they may see
your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Jesus as man was the chief Light bearer, but before He came in the
flesh as man and after His resurrection He was and is the Light, for
He is God. He came to earth to cleanse man of His sins and give them
the Light. This Light is the Spirit of God which we have received by
faith in Jesus Christ.

Why am I refereeing the Spirit of God as Light?

Look at all the properties connected with the Spirit of the Lord.

Now that Jesus has opened the gate of Heaven for us by His sacrifice,
it is the Spirit of God Who guides us and leads us unto Heaven. He is
the author of Word of God which is light unto us. His functional
characteristics are also like light. Light has no colour yet splits
into a spectrum of 7 colours, the Spirit of God is one yet is 7. Light
can not be drawn but when put in contrast to a dark or dull background
it is stands out. The physical properties like colour and texture are
seen only due to light reflecting off it, like spiritual gifts and
callings are related to the Spirit of God.

The ways of the world are the ways of Satan; dark. If we claim we have
the Spirit of God in us than in this dark world we should standout
like light standout in any dark area, covering the darkness with
brightness.

Our works should be like those small gaps through which light beams
out of a lamp stand. We may do work but to make it fruitful and
magnify it is not in our hands but done only by the Spirit of God. So
we can not take credit for the light shining out of us, for all credit
goes to the Light which is within us.

So let us grow in the Spirit of the Lord and let us brighten this dark
world, bring light into it.

[Prayer Starter]
Lord God, You are the Light which shines in us. Our sins are the
darkness that gets within us, but by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ we
have been made worthy to receive You. O Light shine in us, increase in
us and spread through us unto all those who are called by You unto
heaven. Let the world know we are your children the overcomers of
darkness...

This prayer we make in Jesus' Name the chief bearer of the Light, Amen.

[Reference Scriptures]
Revelation 4:1-5
1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and
the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with
me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must
be hereafter.
2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set
in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone:
and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an
emerald.
4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the
seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment;
and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
5 And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and
voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne,
which are the seven Spirits of God.

Zechariah 4:1-6
1 And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a
man that is wakened out of his sleep,
2 And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and
behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and
his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are
upon the top thereof:
3 And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and
the other upon the left side thereof.
4 So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying,
What are these, my lord?
5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me,
Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the
LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my
spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

A Watered-Down Gospel

You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of
Jesus Christ.
                   - 2 Timothy 2:3

Without question the greatest life to live is the Christian
life, because God takes a life that was empty, aimless, and, worst of all,
headed for a certain judgment and then turns it around and transforms it. He
forgives all our sin, removes our guilt, and literally takes residence
inside of us through the Holy Spirit. Most importantly, He changes our
eternal address from a place called hell to a place called heaven. This all
comes about as a result of the power of the gospel proclaimed and believed.

Yet some have believed what I would describe as a watered-down
version of the gospel, a gospel that promises forgiveness but rarely
mentions the need to repent of your sin, a gospel that promises peace but
never warns of persecution, a gospel that says God wants you to be healthy
and wealthy and never have any problems to speak of, a gospel that says you
will so find the favor of God that a parking space always will be available
for you. But that is not the gospel of the New Testament.

The Christian life is not a playground, but a battleground. Not
only is there a God who loves you and has a plan for your life, but there is
also a devil who hates you and opposes God's plan.

I am not suggesting that once you become a Christian, you will
be sick, poor, and miserable. But the essence of the Christian life is
knowing and walking with God. It is about sticking with Him when the sky is
blue and also when it is filled with clouds. It is about pressing on. Jesus
made it clear that storms will enter every life. But as we seek to know and
follow Christ, we will find happiness as a fringe benefit.

ANIMAL'S GREETINGS

Hello my friends

I guess it's time for me to get back to work huh LOL!! So, it's back
to the journal. How was your Christmas? I hope all went well for you.
Judy and I had a fairly decent Christmas. The Chicken took longer than
expected for me to roast hehehe being I hadn't done that it decades and
also not in an electric oven, not to mention this oven LOL. Oh well, it all
finally got done and Judy and I had a nice Christmas dinner and then we
watched some Christmas movies afterwards. I bought us something for
our house such as a back up radiator heater for those times that we could
be without heating oil for some reason or another. So we should be OK
this winter. I bought and gave Judy her present a little early being they
were things she needed to have before Christmas LOL and also the fact
she was with me and saw the Tinkerbell throw I bought for her so it was
surely no surprise that could be wrapped :). I also bought her some cute
little Christmas broaches for her to wear. She bought me some cologne
I had asked for. I have not been feeling well lately, but that could be due
to not only my ongoing health problems, but missing my family and friends,
which adds to my health issues. Oh well, that's life. Judy went up and
spent all the day until 10 at night Saturday at her oldest daughters house
visiting with her youngest daughter as well and all that came up. I could
not go due to my health so I had to stay home. It's been a much different
experience for me up here in Maine. Rather lonesome. Oh well, I guess
I will survive LOL. I didn't write any last week, because I just figured I
deserved a vacation from writing too hehehe HoHoHo. Well, I guess
my vacation is over. Judy went back to work yesterday (Sunday). Yep,
her vacation is over as well hehehe. I thought I would write a little bit
today just to let ya know that I am back to work hehehehe so to say :).
Back to writing. No pay, but tons of blessings. We've gotten a few
Christmas cards from friends and family. I even got a card from one
of my old classmates in Wills Point TX that now lives in Dallas. It's
so great to find old friends. I have been on the phone with my friend
that I grew up with in Oak Cliff off and on. I even chatted with his
wife a few times. She is a nice gal. I am so happy for Mark. I wish
I could visit them sometime, but I have a feeling that will not come
to be anytime soon. Yet I do have his phone number and we can talk
now and revisit old times with memories. We most surely had a white
Christmas if ya must know LOL. Yeppers, it's still white as white
can be out there hehe. Expecting snow again this evening and onto
tomorrow and maybe rest of the week. God only knows! New Years
is upon us. Have you made any resolutions that you think you can
keep LOL? I am just going to try and make for a better year than
last year. That's the best that I can do as far as resolutions hehehe.
God has control, yet we often do not see it, because we are clouded
by our own self-will. Also, we often get lost in our yesterdays and
tomorrows and leave no room for today. We totally throw today
in the trash when we live in our times of then and wanna. This year
take today and let it blossom into whatever it shall be tomorrow,
by doing your very best. If it messes up, then today will have yet
another chance tomorrow, but don't rush it. Let it happen in the
best essence you can give it and let God help you along the way.
Well, with that said, I reckon it's time for me to be taking my
little trip back through all I've written here and see if I can find
a good word or phrase that I can use for the title for today's brand
new poem. So it's off to that place of recollection that I like to call
RECOLLECT VILLE hehehe. I think I found a good title, Now
let's see what I can do with it LOL.....Here goes!!

God Only Knows

We see the junctions
of here unto there
yet God only knows
how they get somewhere.
Maybe the doorways
and maybe the windows
lead us to places
where God only knows.
It is the journeys
from there unto here
that give the lessons
we may not see clear.
God only knows
where passages of time
  are somehow forming
our daily design.
Let all the lessons
from yesterdays sight
help you in someway
make things alright.
God will send angels
to help you succeed
in all the ventures
that you surely need.

Well, I hope you had a merry Christmas and I most surely
wish you a happy and joyful new year. So I guess with that
said I will maybe write a few poems real quick and put them
in here LOL. So, give me a moment. I've gotta write them in
another message first then send and copyright as well as time
stamp them so I can put them individually in my poetry folder.
Be back in a minute or so LOL. OK,, so I wrote 3 poems to
add to the journal. I hope ya like them. One of the poems is
a sort of hehehe Christmas poem. Anyways I also just wrote
5 haiku hehehe for all of my haiku lovers. So ya have a little
to read until next Sunday. I might write something for New
years eve or day, but LOL don't get your hopes up. I may
just compile it all into next Sunday's Animal's Greetings hehe.
Well, I guess it's time for me to be looking for that old off
switch, but before I do that, I must wish you a wonderful
week and also a Happy New Year. Stay safe and learn from
your yesterdays what not to do, and also what to do today.
Remember, Jesus loves you and we do too. Now where's
that off switch hiding at????? Hehehe it was hiding beneath
the Christmas tree LOL. See ya CLICK zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

God bless from Bill and Judy Pearce

Now on with the poems
3 and 5 LOL....more next time :)

What You Once Had

Clinging to minutes
leaves you askew
with all your wanting
of what you're to do.
Venting a problem
letting it out
might be the thing
to move you about.
Don't let the moment
become all you see,
for it then also
might not set you free.
Let time to tick on
as moments occur
and then enjoy all
the times you prefer.
Yet if you're clinging
to what you once had
it will most surely
keep you always sad.

Take Christmas With You

Three days after Christmas
ones look then ahead
to see what they've gotten,
not given instead.
Time paints the minutes
of all we remember
from that most wonderful
day in December.
Christmas is sometimes
left all askew
with what we're wishing
that surely was true.
Three days go on by
and leave ones at loss
for they paid surely
too high of a cost.
Not letting God's spirit
to give and delight
now finds as passage
that's coming in sight.
Three days may be seen
by many that live
only by taking
and never to give.
I hope that this Christmas
found you much joy
the same as the gift
to a little girl or boy.
Don't let the blessings
to just fade away.
Take Christmas with you
in your everyday.

Haiku
for Dec 28, 2009

Time fills the potholes
that our journeys have given
and makes a new road.

Now is but a scene
in the journals of passage
which time has written.

New days upon us
give many choices to choose
with both right and wrong.

Places are painted
by the threads of tomorrows
from our yesterdays.

Many will linger
in the essence of burdens,
because of their guilt.

The Repairer

               Suggested Bible Reading
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has
anointed me; he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up
the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the
prisoners; to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor, and the day of
vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who
mourn in Zion -- to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of
gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint
spirit. They will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD,
to display his glory. They shall build up the ancient ruins, they shall
raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the
devastations of many generations.
               -Isaiah 61:1-4 (NRSV)

                     Today's Scripture

The Lord says, "I will raise up the booth of David that
is fallen, and repair its breaches, and raise up its ruins, and rebuild it.
. . . I will restore the fortunes of my people Israel, and they shall
rebuild the ruined cities and inhabit them."
                     -Amos 9:11, 14 (NRSV)

EVERY Christmas Eve, my father would slip out of the house and
head downtown. My sister and I never realized what he was doing until years
later. Apparently, he was shopping the stores for items he could repair or
refurbish. Most shop owners were happy to make a few dollars on defective
products, worn demos, dismembered toys, and such. My dad, always a good
negotiator, whittled the prices down to almost nothing.

He would hide these soon-to-be Christmas gifts in the garage.
After we went to bed, Dad would sneak out to his workshop, often staying up
all night to fix the gifts. I never owned a completely new bicycle, wagon,
or baseball glove; they were all items that Dad had reclaimed.

With an even more loving heart than my dad's, God is also a
repairer: of torn lives, splintered families, and shattered hopes. All that
causes us pain, God yearns to heal.

               Charles E. Harrel (Oregon, USA)

               Prayer
Dear Lord, you have mended our lives so many times. Help us
minister to others in the same way. Amen.

Joy Is Yours

The future is not your concern, that is Mine. The past you have handed back
to Me, and you have no right to dwell on that.

Only the present is My gift to you, and of that only each day as it comes.
But, if unto that day you crowd past sorrows and resentments and failures,
as well as the possible anxieties of the years that may be left to you
here -- what brain and spirit could bear that strain.

For this I never promised My Spirit and Comfort and Help.

*Is the Bible Truly Trustworthy? *
*PART 1 OF 5*
*BY RICHARD JORDAN *
* *
*

In an age of uncertainty few questions are more important than the one
suggested by the title above. Can we truly know that the Bible is God's
Word-that it is actually the self-revelation of the Creator?

How can we be confident that what we hold in our hands today is a word
outside of human thought? Is it possible to know for certain that we can
base our lives on this book, because this book is really not a book of
men, but a Book of God?

In short: Is there objective evidence that the Bible is of supernatural
origin? The answer, frankly, is an emphatic yes! There is clear,
specific, demonstrable proof that the Bible is entirely and completely
unique. That objective proof is what we term predictive prophecy.

It only takes a moment of investigation to discover that there is no
predictive prophecy in the Quran, the Bhagavad-Gita, the Vedas, the
Vishnu, the writings of Confucius, etc. The only vessel that contains
historically verifiable predictive prophecy is the Book of books, the
Word of God-the Holy Bible.

We pause a moment to say to any reader concerned about the reliability
and authority of the Bible, please carefully check out what follows.
Fact-check every point by any secular authority you choose. Do not take
our word for such an important issue. Verify these facts with
history---not "Christian" history but history, period. Faith must rest
on a solid foundation, one on which you can base your life and eternity.

*
*AN ANCIENT PROPHECY *
*
The Book of Micah was written some 700 years before the birth of Jesus
Christ. Micah penned a predictive prophecy about the birthplace of
Israel's coming Messiah. It is very specific. There is no doubt
concerning what Micah was writing about:

"But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands
of Judah, yet OUT OF THEE SHALL HE COME FORTH UNTO ME THAT IS TO BE
RULER IN ISRAEL; whose goings forth have been from of old, from
everlasting" (Mic. 5:2).

Clearly, Bethlehem Ephratah was to be the birthplace of the coming
"ruler in Israel." Notice that the description Ephratah is added to
specifically identify which Bethlehem was under discussion-there was
another in the territory of Zebulun. This Bethlehem is the more
insignificant of the two, its only "claim to fame" to that point resting
in it being the birthplace of King David. But now its future prospects
have changed!

Thus some 700 years before the birth of Jesus Christ, God clearly,
unambiguously revealed to the prophet Micah the specific birthplace of
Israel's coming Messiah.

You Were Born Wealthy

Ephesians 1:3; Romans 8:35-39

The individual who has received Christ as Saviour has been united to Christ,
but he is traveling through a world that has an ungodly, hostile atmosphere.
Thus, the believer needs a spiritual atmosphere in which to breathe.

Just as astronauts have to take along their own atmosphere when they go to
the moon, the believer needs spiritual atmosphere to sustain his spiritual
life while on earth.

The believer needs spiritual food, spiritual companions, spiritual exercise,
spiritual strength and spiritual weapons.

God has blessed believers with "all" spiritual blessings (Eph. 1:3). Many of
these are mentioned in Paul's letter to the Ephesians.

God has withheld nothing in providing benefits for the believer--all
spiritual blessings are available. God has not just given out of His riches,
but He has provided for the believer "according to" His riches.

There is not a single benefit that God wants to provide for the believer
that He is unable to provide.

Every blessing that is needed for the spirit, soul and body; every blessing
that is needed for past, present and future; every blessing that is needed
for salvation, sanctification and service; and every blessing that is needed
for time and eternity has been provided in Christ for the believer.

As is seen from 2 Corinthians 9:8, God is able to make His grace overflow to
the believer so that the believer has everything he needs to meet any
spiritual problem.

"According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain
unto life and godliness" (2 Pet. 1:3).

Dearly Beloved,

IF YOU DO NOT SEE...

"To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the
things we cannot see" (Hebrews 11:1 TEV).

During one of his presentation in a recent conference, my boss in my workplace
alluded to a quote by an unknown author that is so inspiring to me. Here is the
quote: "If you do not see before you see, then you will not see." To buttress
his point, he used a building plan that an architect draws and serves as the
blueprint of the proposed building. The architect has seen the actual building
before it is built.

There may not be any act of faith in drawing a building plan, but there is a
correlation between the two. A popular adage says, "Seeing is believing."
However, a child of God "live by faith, not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV). A
man of faith will draw a plan in his mind and work towards the actualization of
that plan. He has seen the actualization before it really takes place. The
writer of the book to the Hebrews asserted that to have faith is to see the
impossibility with the eye of possibility (11:1). It is to view in one’s mind
what will take place in the future and working towards its actualization. No
wonder, he listed many Old Testament men and women who first saw before they saw
and became heroes of faith that we are emulating today.

As we are approaching year 2010, what are you seeing in your mind? Are you
seeing good things happening to you? "If you do not see before you see, then you
will not see."

In His service,

Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor).

I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will
have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted
in my body, whether by life or by death. FOR TO ME, TO LIVE IS CHRIST
AND TO DIE IS GAIN (Philippians 1:20-21, NIV).

Today's "Marriage" Scripture by Jason Hunt *December 26, 2009*

2 Thessalonians 1:5
And God will use this persecution to show his justice and to make you worthy of
his Kingdom, for which you are suffering.

Sometimes men just feel like we are in the wilderness. Wandering around
waiting for God to free us from the enemies snare.  I have felt like that for
some time now, wondering when the Lord will free me from these 'troubles' which
really are peanuts in context to what Paul is talking about. Now that I am
approaching the end of the tunnel I can see that God has been showing me some
things; some very valuable lessons in my walk with Him.
We all have a choice when we come up against a wall. Humanists describe it as
'fight or flight'. God calls it 'be still, and know that I am God'. Each
decision will impact us and our families. There is a plan for us (Jeremiah.
29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans
for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.) that we
often don't understand and whatever part we can fathom usually doesn't take
shape for us until we are past it. But in the mean time some principles apply
that will serve us well:
 - We must be willing to stand still and wait for the lesson to be learned. If
we remove ourselves from the situation we may be taking the opportunity away for
God to grow us or He will need to get our attention with a stronger message.
 - Keep faith that God is faithful and just. His plan has our best interests at
heart
 - Read your Bible! When the enemy is knocking on the door, we best know
God's Word in order to repel Satan's attack. Jesus repelled the devil with
Scripture Matthew 4:10 “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the
Scriptures say,‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”
 - Pray, pray and pray some more. Not praying is like getting in your car and
driving without knowing your destination. You may be moving but have no idea
where to and why.
 - In all situations there are valuable pieces the Lord uses to grow us:
Look for the lesson, what can we learn?
Look for the blessing, how is this blessing me and or those around me?
Look for the test that will one day be your testimony.
God has a desire that we will join Him in His kingdom. The trials, struggles,
persecution and pain are all opportunities for God to show us His glory and grow
our character preparing us for an eternity of worship.

God, we praise and thank You for Your word. Thank You for guiding and directing
us in times of trouble, Your tender mercies protect us even from out own
desires. You are faithful and just. Strengthen us with the Gospel and the
presence of Your Holy Spirit. Praise the Lord for His infinite wisdom. In
Jesus' Name.
Amen
