Dearly Beloved,

   TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!

"Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and
your frequent illnesses" (1 Timothy 5:23, NIV).

The above Bible passage has been one of the most misinterpreted and misapplied
ones. In fact, it is one of those controversial verses of the Bible. Drunkards
and those that are inclined to drinking too much wine and alcoholic drinks are
quick to refer to it in support of their action. However, as I was in a Sunday
school class one Sunday, I saw a different application to the instruction of
Paul to Timothy: Timothy should take care of himself. The means of doing this
was taking of some wine. Other places where the Bible refers to wine as
something of medicinal substance are: Second Samuel 16:2 where it was said to
revive the faint; Proverbs 31:6 where it was said to be suitable as a sedative
for people in distress; Luke 10:34 where the Samaritan poured oil and wine on
the wounds of the injured traveler; and Matthew 27:34 and Mark 15:23 where it
was mixed with a drug to ease suffering.

Well, this devotional write-up is not aimed at supporting or not supporting
the use of wine, but to underscore the importance of taking care of oneself.
Paul was concerned about the well being of Timothy, and he recommended to him a
way of taking care of himself. No doubt, Timothy yielded to this advice to his
own good.

Medical and other advices have been given to many people today, and many
people do not yield to such good advices to their detriment. Are you one of such
people that do not yield to medical, professional, ministerial and other
specialized advices about your health, business, family or other endeavors? Part
of taking care of yourself is yielding to such good advices.

"Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise"
(Proverbs 19:20, NIV).

   In His service,

   Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor)

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I have asked all of you to pray for the Berkeley campus
in the past. I have been senting my e-mails to Berkeley
e-mail group, and I was following the rules. After one of
the members wrote the e-mail from 1/16/2006, I was
banned from the Berkeley alumni e-mail group. I believe
that I was banned because I am a Christian.

At 11:16 PM 1/16/2006, you wrote:

>Jennifer, why the chip on the shoulder? You know, a whole generation

>thank you, I appreciate your viewpoint. This would be proper
>courtesy. Then you can explain your own thoughts without criticizing
>what others think. Such a dialogue would be helpful.
>Thank you,

Prayer requests:

1) Please pray for the Berkeley campus that all of the non-believers
will get to know Jesus.

2) Please pray for the Berkeley Alumni that they will realize that God
is bigger than them.

3) Please pray for the Christian church at Berkeley campus as well.

4) Please pray for KCPC at San Francisco (Korean Central Presbyterian
Church) at San Francisco. Please pray that believers in KCPC will
evangelize a lot harder coupled with love.

5) Please pray that I will somehow influence the Daily Cal for help.
Please pray that the Daily Cal and the Berkeley Alumni will take
my e-mails seriously. Please continue to pray for me that the
Berkeley Alumni will reinstate me.

1 JOHN 2:1-2 NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION. My dear children, I write this to
you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have One Who
speaks to the Father in our defense--JESUS CHRIST, the Righteous One. He is
the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the
sins of the whole world.
1 JOHN 2:1-2 KING JAMES VERSION. My little children, these things write I
unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the
Father, JESUS CHRIST the righteous: And He is the propitiation for our sins:
and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Dear Father in Heaven, I come to You in the name of JESUS and ask
forgiveness of my sins as I have forgiven those that have sinned against me.

And dear Lord JESUS, I will never fully understand why You chose to
leave the comfort and security of heaven to come to earth. Why would You set
aside Your divinity, take the form of a bondservant, clothe Yourself in
human flesh, and humble Yourself to the point of being nailed to a cross? It
could only be the result of a love I will never understand, but I am
eternally grateful.

You willingly obeyed the will of Your Father and chose to be born of the
Virgin Mary in order to redeem me--to buy me back--from the law of sin and
death. Though You were rich, yet for my sake You became poor, so that
through Your poverty I might become rich. You weren't born of wealthy
parents, You had no beauty that we should desire You; You were despised and
rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.

Thank You for sparing no expense--even at the cost of Your own life--in
order to understand me, make salvation available to me, and show me the way
to the Father. My only response is to live for You.

     In JESUS' name, amen.
     Always in His Spirit, DENNIS!

+Living Life God's Way+

God commands us to be filled with the Spirit; and if we aren't filled,
it's because we're living beneath our privileges.
                               D. L. Moody
           ____________________________________________________

                          Filled With The Spirit
Don't destroy yourself by getting drunk, but let the Spirit fill your
                                  life.
                              Ephesians 5:18
Jesus said, "The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in
                                 my name,
will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have said to
                                  you."
                                John 14:26
When life gets tough, we begin to look for things to help us get
through the difficulties. Not everything we fill ourselves with in times
of crisis is helpful. Sometimes we fill ourselves with feelings of anger
and rage. Old resentments will up within us and we explode. We choose to
strike back and take revenge. Sometimes we fill ourselves up with
self-help magazines and books, which only give us short-term answers
that often scratch just the surface of our problem. Sometimes we fill
ourselves up with business and work, thinking that we can solve our
problems by ourselves. Too often we fill ourselves up with alcohol and
drugs, seeking only to mask the pain and struggles that we are
experiencing.
Scripture tells us to pray to be filled not with anger, but with
God's Spirit. The Holy Spirit comforts, guides, and strengthens us. The
Spirit of Jesus gives us peace. Jesus knew that we needed to be so
filled and thus promised the gift of the Holy Spirit to each of us. We
all need help to carry on in time of need. Filling ourselves up with the
things of this world will not always help. Filling ourselves up with the
strength and power of the Holy Spirit will bring hope for the future. By
the power of the Spirit we can overcome our fears and become bold in the
Lord.

What's Important?

         Luke 10:38-42

Jesus said, "Only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better."
-Luke 10:42 (NIV)

LIKE many people, I often rush from one thing to the next. One day
recently I had gone from a full day of work to an appointment. I had just enough
time to hurry home, change clothes, and get to my exercise class. But my husband
and children had another agenda -- they actually wanted to talk to me! My
husband had had a particularly frustrating day. I listened as patiently as I
could, all the while calculating how much time I had left to get to my class.
When I said good-bye to everyone, my young son spoke up. "Well, I guess I could
call you on the phone and tell you about my day." I took a deep breath, sat
down, and said, "Okay, tell me about your day."

I learned something that day about paying attention to what's really
important. Too often, I say a quick prayer and rush on to the next task. Too
often, I neglect time with scripture because I am too busy meeting the demands
of my life. Too often, I don't follow through on my good intentions to show
God's love.

Sometimes my life doesn't reflect my real priorities. My exercise class
is important to me, but not as important as my son. Family, work, church, home,
and friends are all important to me, but not as important as God. Over and over
I learn and relearn the lesson of focusing on the "one thing" necessary.

         Lynn Gilliam (Tennessee, U.S.A.)

Dear God, help us to focus first on you so that our life may be rightly
ordered. Amen.

What does the way I live say about my priorities?

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Again, I want to thank you for all of your prayers. Without
them, I would not make it this far. Last year, I asked you to
pray for my friend James Shin, who was suing Washington
Mutual for job employment discrimination. James has cerebral
palsy. I would like to tell you the good news that James won his
case against Washington Mutual in a out of court settlement.
Again, James really appreciate your prayers. James is planning
to publish his poetry some day. If you can pray for him that his
poetry will be published, he will really appreciate it. James has
found peace that God is on his side. Please continue to pray
for him.

<skipripley@...> wrote: Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, We
apologise for not writing sooner but things have been busy for us here in
Colorado and for John & Lindsay in Seattle. Kennedy was released from the
hospital late Tuesday evening. John & Lindsay have an appointment for
Kennedy with a Cardiologist on Wednesday 03-05-06. They are trying to
also get in to see the primary physician who has cared for Kennedy. What
we are telling you now is what we understand about Kennedy's condition
but we also realise that we may not have everything in order: The drs
cleaned out her left ear, put a shunt in and are allowing it to drain in
order to get rid of the infection. They did a EKG and discovered that
her heart is enlarged. A echo cardiogram was also done. She also has
Congestive Heart Failure Disease. The drs feel that this must be
controlled before Kennedy reaches her 2nd birthday or there will be permanent
heart damage. To control her heart, the tumor has to be denied blood in
order to kill it. The way to deny the blood to the tumor is to do the
surgery that Dr Waner, in New York, has proposed. Kennedy is 10 months
old. After doing the surgery to tie off the artery feeding the tumor,
they think it will take about 6 months for the tumor to die. Then will
come surgery to remove the tumor and then reconstructive surgery on her
face. The artery feeding the tumor is taking 40% of the blood her heart
is pumping. The result is the enlarged heart, the congestive failure,
some hardening of her liver & they are watching her kidneys. After the
visit to both drs on 03-05-06, we will have more information on what
choices John & Lindsay have as well as their decision as to what they will
do. They are definitely leaning on the surgery. One hang up with the
surgery option is her age. She is just so young. We know that if they
decide to go back to New York for the surgery, they will have to be there
for 7-10 days so Kennedy can be checked by the drs regularly. We don't
anticipate any updated information until next week, so we won't send
one until then. In the mean time, please continue praying for them all.

An update on our precious sister Sherry. Sherry has made it through the
1st round of chemo treatments. The 1st day was for 1hr, she was
administered 1 bag, the 2nd day she was administered 2 bags in a 1hr period,
the 3rd day she was administered 3 bags over 4hr span. That went fine,
other than the fact that she was very tired and worn out and still is at
the moment, she did however seem to sleep through most of it. She also
was a bit nauseous but that is to be expected. The naturalists,
nutritionists, dieticians all got together to discuss what diet plan would
work best specifically for Sherry. They did another test to determine how
much muscle matter, body fluid and body fat her body stores. They have
a guideline they would like her to follow to keep it in it's proper
proportion. She is now taking insulin every day to keep her diabetes in
check. The Dr visited with Sherry and examined her throat, he/she said
that the lump/swelling in her throat has gone down and has become soft to
the touch, it is no longer hard, which is an excellent sign. PRAISE
JESUS. WE GIVE ALL THE GLORY TO HIM. AMEN. They have released her from the
hospital and she is now resting comfortably back at the resort and at
present time is undecided when she will be leaving to head home. I just
wanted to let all you faithful earth angels to know everything went
well with Sherry. Please forgive me for not answering all your very

but I'm just not able to answer everyone unfortunately. I do hope those
of you who have taken the time to write know that I appreciate it
greatly and thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart and
do hope you will find it in your heart to understand. I am in no way
ignoring you and have acknowledged your heartwarming words of concern,

let you know that I'm up and walking. The surgery was much less painful
than I ever imagined. I have run into a couple of complications. I have
a blood clot in my right calf and groin. Those developed the 2nd day
post-op. I was to be discharged on Saturday. But every time I tried to
sit up on the side of the bed, I nearly fainted. They took my blood and
found that I was 2 pints low. I received transfusions all Saturday night
and was able to go home Sunday. I've been battling a 102 fever and they
originally thot it was the result of a urinary infection and began me
on antibiotics. However the test came back negative so my dr is
attributing it to the clots. He has doubled my blood thinner medication for
now. Rehab isn't too bad except for the abductor muscle exercises. The
surgeon had to cut the abductor muscle through the groin and reattach it
in a different place after lengthening my leg. I'm unable to pull my leg
inward while lying down and those particular exercises are agony. But
there is NO pain while putting my full weight on the new hip and this
gives me encouragement for the next round of surgery. When I walk, my
muscles feel tight and sore but that is all. It will be 3 months before
I'm allowed to sleep without a 4ft foam wedge between my legs, lean over
or otherwise move around much other to walk & rehab. I have to get off
this computer. I'm feeling starting to get uncomfortable. Thank you so
very much for your prayers and loving emails! Blessings, Karen

suicidal or anything, thanks to your prayer support. I had a "bad" meeting with
the landlords today, they have already given me a letter of notice to leave and
say they will be here next Tuesday 4Th of May to move me out physically and take
my keys. I still have nowhere to stay, my finances are making me almost a down
and out, I am considering taking the easy way out and sleeping rough. I have
paid rent cash but no receipts, so they say I do not "live here or occupy here"
they have kept me an "unprotected tenant" and reckon they can them just shove me
out. I am eligible for "Housing Benefit" which is Social Welfare but they told
me they were unable to give me that status (their reason being what turned out
to be a blatant lie) The landlords are a husband and wife couple, as I said
before, she has picked on me and made a catty remark every day she has seen me
for a year. This couple head up a Christian Healing organisation. I said in the
meeting have you every said anything constructive or positive or up building, in
a year of me being here, be specific. She said nothing. She is also quite
defiant that she does NOT have to encourage the likes of me. I said scriptural
principal says you actually do. She justifies herself and she says she is fine
with God about it all. Her excuse for the catty remarks is that she is IN
CHARGE. That justifies everything to her. Is this a Jezebel spirit? My rent is
paid, I have been an ideal tidy responsible tenant and don't deserve this. I'm
too timid and allow people to do this to me. I am also a bit depressed. I was
quite hysterical after this meeting but have calmed down now. I have the
sweetest cat, who put his face right next to mine and purred because he somehow
knew I was upset. I will have to take him to cat rescue. Sometimes the cat keeps
me sane. He was a badly treated stray before, adores me but will not relate to
anyone else at all, just gets everything from me. He will be very traumatised.

months ago as Lilys dr have offered this for her if the ivig wasnt doing enough

Be Like Christ

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort
from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and
compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same
love, being one in spirit and purpose.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider
others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own
interests, but also to the interests of others.

   Philippians 2:1-4 NIV

   "MORE THAN PRAYER!"
   II Chronicles 7:13-14
"When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to
devour the land or send a plague among My people, if My people, who are called
by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their
wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will
heal their land."

Today, May 1st, has been designated as the National Day of Prayer here in the
United States. What a wonderful thing it is that all over our land, there will
be large prayer gatherings. There will be many words spoken to the crowds who
gather and prayers will be offered to the Lord. Is that enough? I don't think
so.

First of all I don't think it is enough for the unbelievers around us. Those
who do not know the Lord personally are a very unreasonable lot. They spend
their time and energy denying the existence of God, but when a catastrophe
occurs, they immediately condemn God for allowing it to happen. That kind of
logic escapes me!

At the same time, these unbelievers are watching those who call themselves
Christians. They hear a lot of talk about coming to church, giving money to
Christian projects or even hear a sharing of the gospel. What they all to often
fail too see and hear, is consistent Christian living.

Today's Scripture is a passage which is familiar and is quoted frequently. It
is generally cited as a call to spend more time in prayer, both individually as
well as collectively. I will agree that there is certainly a call to pray and
seek God's face as we never have done before---but there is more.

The first thing I see here, is that God does send disasters (drought, locusts
or plagues) on a people—His people—when they fail to obey His commands. He
does not do this arbitrarily, but in response to the wickedness and rejection to
His love and instructions.

So what is required to bring about the healing of a land that is sin sick and
under God's judgment? The first step is humility: "... if My people, who are
called by My name, will humble themselves."

This does not require a short course in achieving humility. I think the Lord
Jesus summed it all up in Matthew 22:37-38: "...'love the Lord your God with all
your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and
greatest commandment.' And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as
yourself.' " Hey dear hearts; if we faithfully observe these two commands, we
will have achieved humility. Loving God and your neighbor with all your heart
will eradicate pride and bring in humility.

Back to II Chronicles 7:13-14, we discover that there are more instructions.
We are to seek God's face and turn from our wicked ways. We do that by a
careful examination of our lives to see if there are thoughts, words or deeds
which are out of the will of God and need to be confessed.

I believe sincerely in the power of the Holy Spirit in convicting us of those
things which are sinful. Others may be doing them, but if God convicts you of
doing it, stop! Not only stop, but confess it to the Lord and make whatever
correction is necessary to bring about peace with God. Now we can pray!

Blessings dear hearts. Walk with God today and be a blessing!

{2} For this wonderful news--the message that God wants to save us--
has been given to us just as it was to those who lived in the time of Moses.
But it didn't do them any good because they didn't believe it.
They didn't mix it with faith.
{3} For only we who believe God can enter into his place of rest.
He has said, "I have sworn in my anger

WHY DON'T I ALWAYS "FEEL" THE HOLY SPIRIT ?

Dear brother bob,

I am confused about God taking his Holy Spirit away. I can not feel HIM at
certain times, especially if I have gone astray. This is very scary. Yet I am
assured that He never leaves us or forsakes us.

After I take my eyes off him and am in pain and regret, it takes a while to feel
HIS love for me again. Yet I do know He is there, but I feel like he is further
away... separated by my wall of sin. Praying for forgiveness and repenting does
not instantly put me back in his loving arms. This is so confusing...please
explain.

Thanks. God bless you... F
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------\
------------------------------

Dear F,
Thanks for your question.. This is a really good one, because it cuts right to
the heart of being a christian in everyday life, in all circumstances...

In the New Testament scheme of things, after Christ breathed on His disciples
and said "Receive ye the Holy Ghost"(John 20: 21-23), the Holy Spirit was given
to live inside us. Before this time, "the Spirit was not yet given"up to this
point..and it was not given" because Jesus was not yet glorified"(John 7:38-39).
Up until then, the Holy Spirit only rested upon people, for various types of
spiritual service to God.

In Old Testament times, the Holy Spirit "rested upon" people, and then they
prophesied or did other supernatural things, like Samson"s great strength. And
they were able to do the will of God with supernatural power as long as the
Spirit rested upon them.

In those times, a person's salvation was marked by God changing their name, the
name being significant of a person's character, Gen 32:28 as an example. But
their ability to do great things for God was connected to the Holy Spirit
resting on them..and if they were disobedient to God or sinned, God took away
the Holy Spirit from them.

This removal of the Spirit, for example, caused Samson to be just an ordinary
man again, unable to do the powerful things that God was able to accomplish
through him. Actually, it does not say that Samson all of a sudden became
unsaved because of this, because he again seeks God's gift and help and God
gives it to him again... showing that he still enjoyed God's favor and
usefullness. Only his supernatural abilities were removed.

In some ways, there is a certain consistency between this and the new testament
way of doing things.... if we are not experiencing the filling of the Holy
Spirit, we are not able to do great things in the power of God either. But there
the similarity ends, because the Holy Spirit comes to live inside of us, and
takes up permanent residence in our hearts. He says He will never leave us or
forsake us, (Heb 13:5) so He will not take His Spirit away from us, but we are
just unable to enjoy the Spirit's blessings because of the convicting work of
the Spirit as the result of our sin. As Paul says...

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live;
yet not I, but Christ lives in me:
and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by the faith of the Son of God,
who loved me, and gave himself for me.
(Gal 2:20)

Paul treats the indwelling of Christ as a present fact, and does not leave the
door open to this being a temporary condition. Of course, committing a sin will
temporarily disturb our Fellowship with God, we feel guilty, we feel that God no
longer hears us, we feel we are worthless and get depressed and agitated....as
it says...

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God,
and your sins have hid his face from you,
such that he will not hear.
(Isa 59:2)

But still, the promise of God remains the same..WE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE..

And this is the record, that God has given to us eternal life,
and this life is in his Son.
He that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

These things have I written unto you
  that believe on the name of the Son of God;
that ye may know that ye have eternal life,
and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
(1 John 5:11-13)

Eternal life is a possession, and eternal life goes on forever, by the very
definition of "eternal"...So how can you have eternal life one day, and lose it
the next day, and then get it back that day after that ?? This would be
temporary life dependent on our fallen nature to maintain. This is not Biblical,
and no where can you find verses in the New Testament to support this. Of course
there are people who "appear" to be saved, and then in times of difficulty may
fall away or turn their backs on God and His salvation. But it is doubtful if
these were ever really saved, as Jesus describes in the Parable of the Sower and
the Soils. But this is another whole study.

If you have commited some sin, and the Holy Spirit is convicting you of it and
you fell awful and like God has drawn away from you, the remedy is to confess
that sin to God, agree with Him that it is a sin, and determine to turn away
from that sin and replace that activity with a Godly one. Confession and turning
away from sin (repentance) allow God to heal and forgive the breakdown of
fellowship, and to restore your inner peace and healty relationship with Him...
If we confess our sins,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 (KJV)

But our relationship of sonship with God always stays the same once we have
received Christ and the Holy Spirit lives within us. . He no longer needs to
hide His face from us, because He could not look upon sin...but now it is gone
and forgotten, and we are clean again. This is a "new thing", a new dispensation
of grace, if you will, a different way that God is dealing with us than He did
with Old Testament saints.

The problem of "feeling saved or feeling lost" is one of focussing on the wrong
thing...instead of focussing on the immutable promises of God for the security
of our salvation, we are tempted to focus on "feelings" which are fleeting and
can be affected by all sorts of things, including past memories, medical
problems, all kinds of things that have nothing to do with salvation. Our
salvation is based on God's grace nd our accepting of that grace by FAITH, not
by feelings. The "feelings" of peace that the Holy Spirit gives us when He comes
to live inside us are the RESULTS of our salvation, not a substitute for faith.

Here is a simple priority of truths from the scripture:

SALVATION IS A MATTER OF

Fact first.............then faith...........then feelings last.

I have seen this series likened to a little train where the facts are the
engine, the faith is the coal car, and the feelings are the caboose. The
feelings do not empower the Christian life, any more than the caboose powers the
train..the caboose's movement is a result of the power of the engine and being
fed by the input of faith. The power of the Engine is God's divine power and
also His Word and promises contained therein. This power is activated by placing
your faith in these promises, because this is the way God has decreed it ...

Without faith it is impossible to please God...Heb 11:6

The facts are that Jesus Died and rose again so that we may be eternal sons and
daughters of God. We place our faith or trust in these facts. His resurrection
allowed God to place His Holy Spirit within us, not just "upon us" as was the
case in most of the old testament saints.

We may not always be aware of HIs presence. Paul says

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,
to the which also ye are called in one body;
and be ye thankful.
Col 3:15 (KJV)

When we receive Christ, he gives us an inner peace which acts as a seal of
ownership that we belong to God. We treasure this "feeling" of peace in our
daily lives, and miss it when it isnt there...but please dont mistake the
feeling of tranquility with the fact of our salvation...

And in addition, tranquility does not mean "hyper-activated euphoria" either..it
means a calm inner resting in God, and the absence of guilt, conviction of sin,
and a blessed hope about the future in Glory with Jesus. All the negative things
can be "prayed away", confessed, or otherwise dealt with by faith between you
and God ..and what is left is PEACE...tranquility and inner rest, which then
yields the feeling of well being that we treasure.

If it takes a while to re-experience God's peace after having sinned, the fault
lies with us rather than with God. Our minds tend to get "programmed" into
habits..and then when we confess these things and turn away from them, there can
be a little hole...a vacuum, where the sin was, that needs to be replaced by
something positive. Perhaps the sin satisfied some need in our life; and now its
absence makes us miss it on some level. As it says in Ephesians...

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess;
  but be filled with the Spirit;
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
  singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Giving thanks always for all things unto God
and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
  (Eph 5:18-20)

So i would recommend that you take a pro-active approach to being filled with
the Spirit, if it seems that you are not automatically feeling God's presence
again after a time of sin or worldliness. Find a Psalm which deliberately
praises and glorifies God, and fill your mind with it and pray it to God all day
or for many days...or listen to some songs in which God is lavishly praised in
beautiful music, and just let yourself be carried away..

Forget everything that is outside of your prayer chamber, just get close to God
and let Him get close to you. Submit to Him in all humility, and let His light
fill your soul. This is then becoming "filled with the Spirit"...completely
under His control....being captivated by His Person.

Then, you will be ready to share your faith with someone while in the fullness
of the Spirit. Alternatively, go and do some volunteer work in an orphanage or
prison or women's shelter, or nursing home, etc. I am sure God will lead you
into something practical to do to let the person of Christ flow through you to
others, and show them His love and concern. You will be surprised how the Love
of Christ will shine through you, and you will get many opportunities to share
Him with those He brings to you.

I hope this helps out some. This is an immense topic and of great importance to
all of us. If you have further questions, please let me know.

In Christ.......brother bob......<><

Subject: Spiritual Immaturity Is Not Rebellion

Principle #1 - Spiritual Immaturity Is Not Rebellion

I. INTRODUCTION – THE CALL TO INTIMACY AND CONTEMPLATION
Mike Bickle

A. God has called His church to the highest privilege of enjoying intimacy
with the Godhead (contemplative lifestyle). If we do not enjoy intimacy with
God then our lives become weak in the Spirit.

B. God wants to strengthen our spiritual intimacy. Matthew 3:17; 17:5 - the
Father strengthened Jesus by renewing His intimacy with Jesus. The very
essence of intimacy is this reality -“this is My beloved Son in whom I am
well pleased.”

C. The core identity of the people of God is found in these words. The
counterpart of Matthew 3:17 for us is John 15:9.
1. “My beloved Son” – being ones beloved of God
2. “In whom I am well pleased” – being genuinely authentic

D. Confidence in love before God - enjoying intimacy requires living in the
reality of our “belovedness” before God and the fact that we are genuinely
authentic lovers of God. A believer confident in love before God will be
significantly more committed, resilient and persistent than others who
constantly live under the threats and the fear of punishment.

Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the
day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear
in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But
he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first
loved us. (1 Jn. 4:17-19)

II. SPIRITUAL IMMATURITY IS NOT REBELLION

A. Rebellion and immaturity may outwardly look the same but the heart is
very different. God sees the heart. It is a destructive deception to write
ourselves off as rebellious if in fact we are instead spiritually immature.
The illustration of clean and unclean animals is useful in understanding
this difference – both sheep and the swine become stuck in mud.

B. We must not confuse Old Testament examples of rebellion with spiritual
immaturity. Do must use Old Testament rebellion as our paradigm 1for
immaturity.

C. Biblical examples of immaturity that were not rebellion - King David’s
many failures; Peter denying the Lord (Matt. 26); Peter and Barnabas sinning
against the Gentiles (Gal. 2: 11-14); and, the failure of John Mark (Acts
15:36-40).

D. Principle - struggling in weakness is not the same thing as being a
hopeless hypocrite. The fact that we are weak does not mean we are not a
genuinely authentic lovers of God. The traditional definition of a hypocrite
is somebody who says one thing and does another. The definition of a
hypocrite that I think is best is somebody who says one thing, but does not
pursue it. A genuine lover of God may not attain everything we aim at,
however, we are pursuing it. “A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking
flax He will not quench, till He sends forth justice to victory; And in His
name Gentiles will trust." (Matt.12:20-21)

E. The example of a revival sermon title, “Partial obedience is total
disobedience.” The main idea was to teach people to see each area of
weakness and struggle as proof of their insincerity and as a hopeless
hypocrite.

F. Jesus' encouragement to Peter "Watch and pray, lest you enter into
temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Matt.
26:41)
He said to him the third time, "Simon…do you love Me?" And he said to Him,
Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." (Jn. 21: 17)

G. Spiritual identity – our core identity as a born-again believer is as a
genuine lover of God. Are you a slave of sin who struggles to love God or
are you a lover of God who struggles with sin? …present yourselves to God as
being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness
to God. (Romans 6:13)

1. We must present ourselves before God by defining ourselves as lovers of
God and not by our most recent struggle. We do not define ourselves by our
struggle. Yes, we acknowledge struggle. However, we define ourselves as a
genuine lover of God who struggles.

2. To miss this is to have our hearts locked in our pursuit of intimacy with
God. Our heart becomes locked when we define ourselves by our struggle.

H. Three responses to sin -
Error #1 Sin is not important – compromise of the liberal. In other words,
God understands and overlooks sin without disciplining the one who sins.
Error #2 Sin is the most important reality about you – legalism. In other
words, sin is too important in that your sin defines you more than God's
grace because it is more powerful before God.
Response #3 Sin is serious but second in power and importance to God's grace
Your spiritual identity is a lover of God in God's grace.

The Narrow and Wide Paths
Matthew 7:13-14

Hello, I am Joseph Yosuk Lee. I graduated from the
University of California at Berkeley as a physics
and applied math major. I also graduated from UCI
in the materials science and engineering department
with first Master’s degree while I got another Master's
degree in the electrical engineering department at
the University of Southern California. Also, I play
the piano and violin. Right now, I am currently working
at Samsung Electro-Mechanics as an engineer in South
Korea.

I was very devastated when I was an undergraduate at
Berkeley. I realized that I was not as intelligent
as I thought, and I had a lot of pride. I was one
of the top students at high school. At college, I
was average. While I was struggling with a B average,
my electrical engineer friend Tony made a 97% on the
midterm. I, myself, received a 70% average on that
same exam, and even my professor made a mistake in his
own midterm. My professor is an intelligent man when
he is a physics professor at Cal-Berkeley. Despite
this, I felt that Tony could easily surpass him,
although Tony was an electrical engineer and computer
science major. While I did not have the faintest clue
how to solve any of my 7 physics problems, he could
easily solve all of the problems in the textbook
spending only three hours per chapter.

I was very hurt, as well as humbled. I thought that
my greatest friends were my GPA, test scores, and
professors' recommendations until I met Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ became my best friend and He loved me so
much that He gave His life for me.

You are My friends if you do what I [Jesus]
command. I no longer call you servants, because
a servant does not know his master's business.
Instead, I have called you friends, for everything
that I have learned from My Father I have made known
to you. John 15:14-15 (NIV)

There are many stories of mothers dying while giving
birth to their children. There are also many stories
of men dying for their comrades in a war by throwing
their bodies on top of a grenade. However, Jesus died
for sinners like myself, for strangers like myself,
and for the rest of us, who are chosen. He did it
because He loves all of us as His friends. Grades
and academics cannot love you nor I. Only the Lord
can do that. I depended so much on my happiness on
school that I became miserable when I was not doing
well. At Berkeley, I was alone and did not have many
friends. I used to believe that school was far more
important than family, friends, people, and my own
life. I almost wanted to use some illegal drugs so
that I could enhance my school performance. When I
was at the bottom of my life, I finally accepted
Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior during a church
retreat at the mountains of Santa Cruz. I gave my
testimony about my bitter life telling every brother
in a circle that I study a lot and that my parents
were disappointed in me when I did not make it to
MIT or Harvard. After we left the circle, I talked
to my pastor outside in the dark and cried on his
shoulders during one Saturday night on October 20,
1990, and he comforted me.

After I accepted Jesus Christ, I finally gave up my
pride. I really wanted to share my faith with Tony
and I realized that it was too late. Tony killed
himself by jumping off the Holiday Inn Hotel at
Emeryville, California. To this day, I do not know
why he did it. All I know is that if I had not
accepted Christ, I would have taken my own life.
Tony and I took two different paths in our lives.
God helped me choose the narrow path while Tony
chose the wide and easy path.

So I hated life, because the work that is done under
the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless,
a chasing after the wind. Ecclesiastes 2:17 (NIV)

"Enter the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad
is the way that leads to destruction, and there are
many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and
difficult is the way which leads to life, and there a
re few who find it." Matthew 7:13-14 (NKJV)

ROMANS 5:5 KING JAMES VERSION. And hope maketh not ashamed; because nth love
of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us

Oh Lord, I come to You in the name of JESUS and ask forgiveness of my
sins as I have forgiven those that have sinned against me.

Father, You are my Refuge and High Tower. You are a refuge and a
stronghold in these times of trouble.

In the day of trouble You will hide me in Your shelter; in the secret
place of Your tent will You hide me; You will set me high upon a rock. And
now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; in Your tent
I will offer sacrifices and shouting of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing
raises to You, O Lord. Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; have mercy and be
gracious to me and answer me!

On the authority of Your Word, Father, I declare that I have been made
the righteousness of God in CHRIST JESUS. When I cry for help, You, Lord,
hear me and deliver me out of all my distress and troubles. You are close to
me, for I am of a broken heart, and You save such as are crushed with sorrow
for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent. Lord, many are the evils
that confront me, but You deliver me out of them all.

Thank You for being merciful and gracious to me, O God, for my soul
takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in You; yes, in the shadow of
Your wings I take refuge and am confident until calamities and destructive
storms are passed. You perform on my behalf and reward me. You bring to pass
Your purposes for me, and surely You complete them!

     In JESUS' name, amen.

Dear heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of JESUS and ask
forgiveness of my sins as I have forgiven those that have sinned against me.

Father, You are God throughout all generations, and You are deeply
concerned about the temptations and moral pressures young people face today.
I lift to You the young in my church, in my family and neighborhood, and
beyond.

And Father, I thank You that You discipline them because You want to
adorn their characters with the purity and beauty of CHRIST. I ask You to
enable them to trust Your loving intentions and not to resist You. When You,
as a refiner of silver, use painful, fiery trials to bring the scum to the
top in their lives, give them grace to cooperate with You in removing it
rather than just stirring it back in.

I praise You that You are full of compassion and that the outcome of
Your purifying work is more than worth all You let them go through.

     In JESUS' name, amen.

Behold a Throne and One Who Sits on It (Rev. 4:2)
The Need to Encounter God’s Beauty
Mike Bickle
One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: that I may dwell in
the House of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the
LORD, and to inquire in His temple. (Ps. 27:4)
A. Why do we need to understand God’s beauty? The Spirit is orchestrating a
worldwide prophetic worship and prayer movement that is essential in
releasing God’s power to the nations before Jesus’ Second Coming. This
movement is fueled by the revelation of Jesus’ beauty. Isaiah prophesied
that the revelation of Jesus’ beauty would be revealed in the generation He
returns.
In that day the Branch of the LORD (Messiah) shall be beautiful and glorious
  (Isa. 4:2)
B. The subject of God’s beauty is the same as the subject of His holiness
and glory. There is a compelling power in the revelation of beauty. It
answers an ache in our soul that was put there by God. We cannot live to our
fullest spiritually without the revelation of beauty. Beauty is intrinsic to
our emotional and spiritual health. It is a vast subject.
C. The pursuit of the deep things of the knowledge of God is the highest and
most difficult reality in the Spirit. It is the Mt. Everest of the Kingdom
of God. The study of God’s beauty takes time and work. It comes slowly. Do
not be impatient, but persevere with a marathon pace as you mine for gold.
Our life is a long treasure hunt into God’s beauty.
D. Revelation 4 and 5 give us the highest revelation of God’s beauty in
Scripture. They describe the Holy of Holies of the Eternal City. God could
have put anything around His Throne that He wanted. What the beautiful God
put around Himself expresses His beauty to creation. It is all very
purposeful. I call Rev. 4-5, the "beauty realm of God" and the "heavenly
symphony." Here we see that the great Governmental Prayer Center of the
universe is fueled by God’s beauty.
E. Rev. 4:1-7, describes the 15 "doorways" into understanding God’s beauty
as seen in His governmental center. Here are 15 main aspects that point to
God’s beauty.
1. The ultimate reality: God’s life, Throne, and Person (Rev. 4:2)
2. The beauty of God: what He looks like, feels like, and acts like (Rev.
4:3)
3. The beauty of God’s partners: the Church enthroned, robed, and crowned
(Rev. 4:4)
4. The beauty of God’s power: manifestations of power (lightning, thunder,
sounds (Rev. 4:5a)
5. The beauty of the Spirit’s fire: on the Throne, the seraphim and the
saints (Rev. 4:5b-7; 15:2)
1 Behold, a door standing open in heaven….the first voice which I heard was
like a trumpet…saying, "Come up here, and I will show you things which must
take place." 2 I was in the Spirit and…Throne set in heaven, and One sat on
the Throne. 3 He…was like a jasper and a sardius stone…there was a rainbow
around the Throne…4 Around the Throne were 24 Thrones…I saw 24 elders...in
white robes; they had crowns…5 From the Throne proceeded lightnings,
thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning... 6 Before the
Throne there was a sea of glass…around the Throne, were four living
creatures… (Rev. 4:1-6)
II. A Throne and one who sat on It
2 I was in the Spirit and behold, a Throne set in heaven, and One sat on the
Throne. (Rev. 4:2)
A. John sees God’s Throne which is far more powerful than the throne of the
Roman empire that was crushing Israel and the Church. John sees the Throne
and the Person who has total authority over Rome and Satan’s kingdom. This
revelation brings great confidence to us. A key focus in the Book of
Revelation is God's Throne (referred to 40 times).
B. This "set Throne" is set forever. It is not a temporary power like the
Roman Empire. God’s Throne guarantees us that all of God’s plans will come
to pass. God’s Throne assures us that our destiny cannot be stopped, thus we
cannot fail as we relate to Him with faith and obedience. God’s will in our
life cannot be stopped by Satan, demons or men.
C. The Throne guarantees the certainty of God’s plans. The Throne of God is
referred to 40 times in the book of Revelation. The Throne pictures God as
the ruler over everything; the One who conquers everything. Nothing can
resist it and overcome it; it's the highest of all. There are seven Throne
scenes in Revelation (4:2-6:17; 7:9-17; 11:15-19; 14: 1-5; 15: 2-8; 19:1-8;
21:1-22:9).
D. John sees a real Person on the Throne at the governmental center of the
universe. A Person with fiery emotions, a vast intellect and who possesses
all power, and is 100% observant as He watches over and cares for us. He is
a Person who sees, cares, remembers and feels joy or sadness related to our
responses to Him. What happens in our life and heart affects His heart. He
feels our pain, sees our value, and plans our welfare. We are not alone; we
will live together with Him. There is One who desires meaningful partnership
with His inferiors.
III. Behold a Throne set in heaven (Rev. 4:2b)
A. In Rev. 1-3, John saw Jesus and heard His last statement concerned the
Church sitting on thrones (Rev. 3:21). John next mentions the Father’s
Throne (Rev. 4). Scripture speaks of two Thrones, the Father’s Throne and
Jesus’ Throne (at His right hand). The two Thrones manifest the one
authority of God. The Throne speaks of God’s vast Empire or Kingdom.
21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My Throne, as I also
overcame and sat down with My Father on His Throne. (Rev. 3:21)
9 "I watched till Thrones were put in place, and the Ancient of Days
(Father) was seated…His Throne was a fiery flame…10 A fiery stream issued
and came forth from before Him. A thousand thousands ministered to Him; ten
thousand times ten thousand stood before Him. The court was seated, and the
books were opened. 11 I watched till the beast (Antichrist) was slain, and
its body destroyed and given to the burning flame….13 "I was watching
…behold, One like the Son of Man (Jesus), coming with the clouds…He came to
the Ancient of Days…14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a
Kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His
dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His
kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed. (Dan. 7:9-14)
B. God’s beauty is seen in His royal court where His Throne is set up. God’s
Throne is like the "royal palace" of a king and is synonymous with the
heavenly Temple. The Father's Throne shines forth with Jasper (diamond-like)
Sardius brightness and flaming fire (Dan. 7:10). Jesus’ Throne is sapphire
like the sea is around it (Ezek. 1:26; Ex. 24:10). Both Thrones are under
the same emerald rainbow and are surrounded by the sapphire crystal Sea.
6 Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in His sanctuary
  (Ps. 96:6)
C. John sees One called, "Him who sits upon the Throne." This is a
mysterious title for One so eloquent. The great communicator of all the ages
hides Himself in obscurity. He only hints about His glory throughout
Revelation. He talks so little about Himself in the Book of the Revelation
of Jesus. John sees the Father sitting in total confidence and security.
None can challenge Him. This Throne has all power and cannot be conquered.
He has dominion over all.
34 His dominion is an everlasting dominion …35 All the inhabitants of the
earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of
heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand
or say…, "What have You done?" (Dan. 4:34-35)
27 His Kingdom is…everlasting…all dominions shall serve and obey Him. (Dan.
7:27)
15 Behold, the nations are as a drop in a bucket, and are counted as the
small dust on the scales…17 All nations before Him are as nothing, And they
are counted by Him less than nothing and worthless. 18 To whom then will you
liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him? …23 He brings the
princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless. 24 Scarcely
shall they be planted, scarcely shall they be sown, scarcely shall their
stock take root in the earth, when He will also blow on them, and they will
wither… 25 To whom then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal?…26
Lift up your eyes on high, and see…who brings out their host (stars) by
number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the
strength of His power; not one is missing. (Isa. 40:15-26)
16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on
earth, visible and invisible, whether Thrones or dominions or principalities
or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 He is before
all things, and in Him all things consist. 18 He is the head of the
body…that in all things He may have the preeminence. 19 For it pleased the
Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile
all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven…
(Col. 1:16-19)
20 He (Father) raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in
the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and
dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in
that which is to come. 22 He put all things under His (Jesus’) feet, and
gave Him to be head over all things to the church… (Eph. 1:20-22)
D. God’s Throne is good and establishes us in the fullness of joy forever.
The glorious dream of happiness and joy will never end. It is the pinnacle
of celebration of our intimacy with God.
4 God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more
death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former
things have passed away. (Rev. 21:4)
E. God’s Throne will sustain and unify us forever as it punishes evil and
vindicates righteousness.
6 It is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who
trouble you, 7 and to give you who are troubled rest…when the Lord Jesus is
revealed from heaven…8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those…who do not
obey the gospel...9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction
from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He
comes, in that Day… (2 Thes. 1:6-10)
2 …He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her
fornication; and He has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her
" (Rev. 19:2)
F. God’s Throne is forever. All that is accomplishes is forever permanent.
44 The God of heaven will set up a Kingdom which shall never be destroyed;
and the Kingdom shall…break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it
shall stand forever. (Dan. 2:44)
3 His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His dominion is from generation
to generation…34 His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom is
from generation to generation. (Dan. 4:3, 34)
14 His (Jesus') dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass
away, and His kingdom the one which shall not be destroyed. (Dan. 7:14)
2 God…has…spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things,
through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His
glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the
word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the
right hand of the Majesty on high…8 To the Son He says: "Your Throne, O God,
is forever and ever…10 And: "You, LORD…laid the foundation of the earth, and
the heavens are the work of Your hands. 11 They will perish, but You remain;
and they will all grow old like a garment; 12 Like a cloak You will fold
them up, and they will be changed. But You are the same, and Your years will
not fail." (Heb. 1:2-12)
G. All the people of history will stand before God’s Throne.
11 I saw a great white Throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the
earth and the heaven fled away. 12 I saw the dead, small and great, standing
before God, and books were opened…the dead were judged according to their
works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the
dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in
them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death
and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15
Anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
(Rev. 20:11-15)
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one
may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done,
whether good or bad. (2 Cor. 5:10)
28 Jesus said to them, "Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration,
when the Son of Man sits on the Throne of His glory, you who have followed
Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel."
(Mt. 19:28)
31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory…then He will sit on the Throne of
His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will
separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the
goats." (Mt. 25:31-32)
H. We have access to God’s Throne right now by prayer. This is the place
that our prayers are received. The greatest expression of our destiny in
this age and the age-to-come is manifest as we relate to God’s Throne on the
Sea by worship and intercession.
6 He…made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (Eph. 2:6)

16 Let us therefore come boldly to the Throne of grace, that we may obtain
mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Heb. 4:16)
IV. The One who sat on the Throne (Rev. 4:2c)
2 Behold, a Throne set in heaven, and One sat on the Throne. (Rev. 4:2)
A. John sees a real Person on the Throne. He is One with fiery emotions and
a vast intellect. What happens in our life and heart affects His heart. He
cares for us as He sees and remembers our life and struggle. He feels joy or
sadness related to our responses to Him. He feels our pain, sees our value,
and plans our future blessing, prosperity and happiness. We are not alone.
We will live together with Him forever. A real Person desires deep
relationship and partnership with us.
B. He is not only omnipotent (all power) but is omniscient (all knowing). He
knows everything and possesses perfect wisdom for every situation.
C. The Lord carefully takes notice of His friends as well as His enemies.
This aspect of His Personhood is hated by the ungodly, but is pleasing to
those who love Him. He is always watching us. We are always on His mind.
13 There is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and
open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. (Heb. 4:13)
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on…evil and the
good. (Prov. 15:3)
D. He has total clarity and fullness of insight into every dark secret. The
all-seeing eye of God discerns our negative and positive qualities. His eyes
see the yes in our spirit when we fail, more clearly than we do. He sees the
cry in our heart to obey Him. Our decisions, victories, failures and
struggles heart affects His heart. We may feel alone in this age, however,
we really are not.
21 The ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD…He ponders all his paths.
(Prov. 5:21)
23 All shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts… (Rev.
2:23).
E. He sees when we endure trials instead of giving up. He sees the positive.
He rewards every small act of obedience, especially those hidden from the
eyes of others (Mt.6:1-6, 16-18). He remembers and rewards (Heb.6:10). Even
small acts, such as giving a cup of cold water, do not go unnoticed by the
Lord (Mt. 10:42). Our knowledge of His omniscience persuades us against evil
knowing that it is vain to attempt to hide evil from Him.
F. God interprets all knowledge through the cleanness of His heart. A judge
may know all the facts about a case. But if he has an unclean heart, he will
misinterpret the information. God sees all without any distortion. His
vision is clean. There is no exaggeration in what He perceives.
G. This One desires to be known intimately and enjoyed, not only obeyed and
honored.
H. There is One who desires meaningful relevant partnership with His
inferiors.
I. John saw the realm of life where all are God-centered. How awesome and
unified this place is.
V. Behold: what John saw overcame him
2 Behold, a Throne set in heaven, and One sat on the Throne. (Rev. 4:2)
A. Behold! What John saw overcame him. We want to feel what John felt. John
was awed at seeing a Throne before him. John’s spirit trembles as he is
overloaded.
B. When John says, "Behold" he is seeing the purpose of his existence and
the reason for his suffering and struggle. He is face to face with his
purpose. It overwhelms him as the reason of his very being is before him.
Our purpose is found in understanding the Throne and One sitting upon it.
Our reason for being and our very relevance is only seen as we connect with
this One.
25 He gives to all life…28 in Him we live and move and have our being… (Acts
17:25-28)
36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things… (Rom. 11:36)
11 "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; for You
created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created." (Rev.
4:11)
9 Worthy are You to take the book...for You were slain, and purchased for
God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.
(Rev. 5:9; NAS)

                     Just the Right Time

                     Read Genesis 18:9-14

The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of
slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to
repentance. -2 Peter 3:9 (NRSV)

I should go and see my neighbor, Edna, I kept thinking one
day. But she's probably busy or has visitors already. Anyway, I've got too much
to do here, I argued back to myself. I'll get in touch with her later.
Unfortunately, later never came. Unknown to me, Edna was terminally ill and died
within a few days.

As I stood at her funeral I regretted never taking the
opportunity to see her and say good-bye. It can be easy not to pick up the phone
or visit someone at the moment God prompts us -- and later may be too late.
Sometimes we don't act because of busyness or fear of rejection. How different
that is from God!

The "appointed time" is a theme that runs throughout
scripture. Even though Abraham had to wait a long time for the promise of a son
to be fulfilled, in God's eyes Isaac was born at just the right time. Even now,
as we look to the skies in the expectation of Christ's return, we can know that
God is not slow in keeping promises. God wants as many people as possible to
repent before it is too late. And at just the right time, Christ will come back.

                     Joanne Appleton (Bristol, England)

Thank you, O God, that your timing is perfect. Help us to
trust you and to act when you prompt us. Amen.

Who can I reach out to today?

                     The terminally ill

              QUARTA-FEIRA, 3 DE MAIO DE 2006
             Na hora certa

             Leia Gênesis 18.9-14

             Não retarda o Senhor a sua promessa, como alguns a julgam demorada;

ella.

¿Cómo puedo alcanzar a otras personas hoy?

                             :

Por las personas con enfermedades terminales.

The Anchor of Hope
Charles J. Rolls

Which we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which
entereth into that within the veil (Heb. 6:19).

An anchor is an instrument that holds in security and safety when danger
and disaster are threatening. Here again a material figure is taken and its
function is personified in living and lasting reality. Messiah is strong and
steadfast; therefore the chain of hope is securely fixed to One who never
fails. The reason Christ is the Anchor of Hope is that He created a new
consciousness which concerns things to come. Anticipation is awakened to
look and labor and long for a better country, a brighter city and a more
blessed community than can be realized here. Christ Himself is the
unanswerable evidence of our ultimate entrance into an immortal society,
because as Forerunner, He has for us entered (Heb. 6:20). He has begotten in
us a passion for a higher friendship, a belief in the happier fellowship and
a hope in the holier family of the household of God, of which He spoke as
My Father's house" (John 14:1). The Apostle Paul declared, "Christ in you,
the hope of glory" (Col. 1:27), which hope supplies the energy for endeavor
as well as the enlightenment for expectation. Even amid the smoke of strife,
the mists of misfortune, the tornado of trial, the billows of blame, the
welter of war, and the tides of trouble, "We have an anchor that keeps the
soul, steadfast and sure while the billows roll." Christ as our Anchor is
weighty in authority; therefore stable and strong. He is heavy in honor;
therefore steadfast and secure. And He is mighty in majesty; therefore
supreme and serene.

The entry of Christ on our behalf into the heavenly sanctuary has
ratified all the promises of God in perfect righteousness, re-established
our relationship to the Father in permanent reconciliation, re-instated our
forfeited authority in a prevalent regency, and has registered our
redemption from ruin by His pertinent resurrection. Our hope is centered in
the divine purpose, which was purposed in Christ before the world began,
unto our glory. Christ came to fulfill that purpose; wherefore He is the
Anchor of Hope.

"Honor your father and mother" - which is the
first commandment with a promise--

"That it may go well with you and that you may
enjoy long life on the earth."

Ephesians 6:1-3 NIV

Volume 6.18 - Friday, May 5, 2006

from Senior Pastor Timothy G. Satryan
WILMINGTON first assembly of God

=================================
There is a wonderful anagram for learning the basic parts of prayer using
the word "ACTS":
A = Adoration
C = Confession
T = Thanksgiving
S = Supplication

Although supplication (intercession for others) comes at the end of this
anagram, supplication, intercession and petition for others should be one of
our top priorities when we pray. Paul said, "I urge, then, first of all,
that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for
everyone..." (1 Timothy 2:1)

There is a wonderful parable about a ship that was wrecked during a storm at
sea. Only two of the men who were on it were able to swim to a small island.
The two survivors, not knowing what else to do, agreed that they had no
other recourse but to pray to God. However, to find out whose prayer was
more powerful, they agreed to divide the territory between them and stay on
opposite sides of the island. The first thing they prayed for was food.

The next morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on his side of the
land, and he was able to eat its fruit. The other man's parcel of land
remained barren.

After some days, the first man was lonely and he decided to pray for a wife.
The next day, another ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman
who swam to his side of the island. On the other side of the island, the
second man had nothing. Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes, and
more food. The next day, all of these were given to him. However, the second
man still had nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that he and his wife could
leave the island. In the morning, he found a ship docked at his side on the
island. The first man boarded the ship with his wife and decided to leave
the second man on the island. He considered the other man unworthy to
receive God's blessings, since none of his prayers had been answered.

As the ship was about to leave, the first man heard a voice from heaven
booming: "Why are you leaving your companion on the island?"

"My blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who prayed for them," the
first man replied. "His prayers were all unanswered and so he does not
deserve anything."

"You are mistaken," the voice rebuked him. "He had only one prayer, which I
answered."

"Tell me," the first man asked the voice, "what did he pray for that I
should owe him anything?"

"He prayed that all your prayers be answered."

It is so easy to come to God with our fist-full of petitions and forget
about the needs of others. We should pray for all of our needs and lay them
at the feet of Jesus. However, we should also remember the words of Paul...
"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and
thanksgiving be made for everyone..." (1 Timothy 2:1)

DO YOU C-A-R-E?
It's one thing to tell a friend you care. It's quite another to show it.

When David and Jonathan made a pact of friendship (1 Samuel 18:1-4), neither
of them knew to what extent Jonathan would have to go to show his care for
David. But it didn't matter. Undaunted by danger, Jonathan courageously
acted to save David's life (1 Samuel 20:1-23).

When we develop close friendships, we may also be called on to demonstrate
by our actions that we care. The acrostic C-A-R-E can help us remember four
key elements of friendship.

C - Challenge your friend to grow spiritually. A good friend knows the
importance of turning the conversation toward matters of faith.

A - Affirm your friend's value. A phone call or a note can let your friend
know how important he or she is and can keep your friendship strong.

R - Respect the feelings and wishes of your friend. No one wants a friend
with whom ideas, dreams, and concerns fall on deaf ears. A good friend is a
great sounding board.

E - Encourage your friend through compliments and by doing good deeds. Your
friend will feel better after having been in your presence.

Do you have a friend you should care for today?

OUR MASTER'S VOICE
by Alan Smith

The story is told of an American tourist who was traveling in the Mid East.
He came upon several shepherds whose flocks had intermingled while drinking
water from a brook. After an exchange of greetings, one of the shepherds
turned toward the sheep and called out, "Manah. Manah. Manah." (Manah means
"follow me" in Arabic). Immediately his sheep separated themselves from the
rest and followed him.

Then one of the two remaining shepherds called out, "Manah. Manah." and his
sheep left the common flock to follow him. The traveler then said to
the third shepherd, "I would like to try that. Let me put on your cloak and
turban and see if I can get the rest of the sheep to follow me."

The shepherd smiled knowingly as the traveler wrapped himself in the cloak,
put the turban on his head and called out, "Manah. Manah." The sheep
did not respond to the stranger's voice. Not one of them moved toward him.
"Will the sheep ever follow someone other than you?" the traveler asked.

"Oh yes," the shepherd replied, "sometimes a sheep gets sick, and then it
will follow anyone."

We live in a world where a lot of different "voices" are calling us to
follow. Materialism cries out for us to follow. Power and prestige call
out. Sensual pleasure makes its plea. It's easy to be pulled in a lot of
different directions. That is, unless we have Jesus Christ as our shepherd.
A sheep in His flock will ignore all other voices and listen for the voice
of its Master.

"To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his
own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he brings out his own sheep,
he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. Yet
they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do
not know the voice of strangers." (John 10:3-5)

Whose voice are you listening to?

FAILURE OR SETBACK?
by Dr. Mark Redd

Have you ever failed or made a mistake? Have you ever not hit the goal you
were shooting for? Good, then this is for you. The fact that you have failed
is proof that you are not finished. Failures and mistakes can be a bridge,
not a barricade to success. Failure may look like a fact, but it is just an
opinion. Successful people believe that mistakes are just feedback. It is
not how far you fall, but how high you bounce that makes all the difference.

Four Steps To Rebound From A Setback
. Remember That No One Is Immune To Setbacks - Everyone makes
mistakes. Even the greatest athletes do not make the plays every time. Lance
Berkman does not hit home runs every time. David Carr does not throw
touchdown passes every time. Even Michael Jordan did not make every shot.
The only perfect person who never failed was Jesus Christ - and face it, you
are not Him! "Anyone who refuses to admit his mistakes can never be
successful. But if he confesses and forsakes them, he gets another chance."
Proverbs. 28:13 (LB)

. Discover What Went Wrong - Failure is a great teacher, but it is not
our undertaker. Failure is a delay, not a defeat. A successful person is big
enough to admit his mistakes, smart enough to profit from them and strong
enough to correct them. Ask yourself some questions: What went wrong? Did I
not plan well? Did I miss something or have the wrong goal? What could I
have done different? Find out what went wrong - then fix it!

. Learn the Lesson and Forget the Details - When you learn what was
wrong, make it right. Shore up your weak spots. Vernon Sander says,
"Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, then the
lesson afterwards." Experience is what you get when you are looking for
something else. The experience of failure will always make you bitter or
better. The choice is yours. The good news is that God has no plans that end
in failure for His children. "I will bless you with a future filled with
hope - a future of success, not of suffering." Jeremiah 29:11 (CEV)
. Do Not Give Up! - Do not sit out just because you have failed. Do no
quit. You will probably learn more from your failures than you ever will by
your success. Success consists of getting up just one time more than you
fell down. "You don't drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying
there." So get up and go on!

"Forget what is behind, and struggle for what is ahead. Run toward the goal
so that one can win the prize!" - Philippians 3:13-14

What is the difference between failure and a setback? Just one thing -
quitting! So, do not give up!

as seen in "Life Lessons," a periodic publication from Dr. Mark Redd, pastor
of Bayshore Baptist Church in La Porte, Texas.

=================================
THE COMPANY YOU KEEP
by P. W. Caballero

It Is Better To Be Alone, Than In The Wrong Company

Today's lesson deals with friendship - The less you associate with some
people, the more your life will improve. Any time you tolerate mediocrity in
others, it increases your mediocrity. An important attribute in successful
people is their impatience with negative thinking and negative acting
people. As you grow, your associates will change. Some of your friends will
not want you to go on. They will want you to stay where they are. Friends
that don't help you climb will want you to crawl. Your friends will stretch
your vision or choke your dream. Those that don't increase you will
eventually decrease you. Consider this:
. Never receive counsel from unproductive people.
. Never discuss your problems with someone incapable of contributing
to the solution, because those who never succeed themselves are always first
to tell you how. Not everyone has a right to speak into your life. You are
certain to get the worst of the bargain when you exchange ideas with the
wrong person.
. Don't follow anyone who's not going anywhere. With some people you
spend an evening: with others you invest it.
. Be careful where you stop to inquire for directions along the road
of life.
. Wise is the person who fortifies his life with the right
friendships.

If you run with wolves, you will learn how to howl. But, if you associate
with eagles, you will learn how to soar to great heights. "A mirror reflects
a man's face, but what he is really like is shown by the kind of friends he
chooses." The simple but true fact of life is that you become like those
with whom you closely associate - for the good and the bad.

=================================
FLAME OF LOVE
"I can master it," said the Ax. His blows fell heavy on the hard, strong
steel. But each blow only made his edge more blunt until he ceased to
strike.

"Leave it to me," said the Saw. With his relentless teeth, he worked back
and forth. But to his dismay, all of his teeth were worn out or broken off.

"Ha!" said the Hammer. "I knew you could not do this. Let me show you how."
But with the very first blow, his head flew off, and the steel was
unchanged.

"Shall I try?" asked the Flame. And it curled itself gently around the
strong, hard steel, embraced it, and would not let it go. And the tough
steel melted.

There are hearts that are hard enough to resist the forces of wrath and the
fury of pride. But hard is the heart that can resist the warm flame of Love.

"'For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their
ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their
eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I
would heal them. But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears
because they hear. For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men
longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but
did not hear it.'" - Matthew 13:15-17 (NIV)

=================================
THE 11TH - 20TH COMMANDMENTS

11th Thou shalt not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all
human activities.
12th Thou shalt not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come
to pass.
13th Thou shalt not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one has
yet succeeded in accomplishing this.
14th Thou shalt handle only one problem at a time, and leave the others
to the Lord until their turn comes up.
15th Thou shalt not take troubles to bed with you, for they make very
poor bedfellows.
16th Thou shalt not try to carry the problems of the world on your
shoulders, for nobody (except for One) has a back that is broad enough.
17th Thou shalt be a good listener, for God often speaks to us through
the mouths of others.
18th Thou shalt not try to relive yesterday; for good or ill, it is
forever gone. Live in the now and rejoice in it.
19th Thou shalt firmly dismiss feelings of frustration, for 90% of it is
rooted in self-pity and will interfere with positive action.
20th Thou shalt count thy blessings, never overlooking the smallest, for
our biggest blessings are composed of many small ones.

=================================
RELIGION VERSUS SALVATION
by Clarence E. Billheimer

Many people get the terms "religion" and "salvation" confused. It's easy to
understand why--one looks so much like the other on the surface. May I share
just four differences between the two? It can make all the difference in the
world.

Religion emphasizes "DO" while salvation emphasizes "DONE." You can find
many good churches and denominations that emphasize good works, moral
living, rituals, etc. There is nothing inherently wrong with these things -
God knows we could use a lot more moral people. But such outward deeds are
man's futile efforts to make himself acceptable to God.

The Bible tells us that even our righteousness looks like a filthy rag in
His sight, so NO ONE can make himself acceptable to God through his/her own
efforts. It is only when we realize that Christ already DID what was
required for us so that we can be saved. He lived the perfect life we cannot
possibly live. He fulfilled God's requirements. When He said, "It is
finished" on the cross, He spoke of the fact that all that was needed for
our salvation was DONE. Nothing else we can do is needed, indeed it is not
even acceptable.

Once a person chooses to accept what Christ has DONE, changes towards such
qualities as goodness, humility, patience, love will be evident in their
life. But it is not these qualities that will cause the person to be
heaven-bound, it is what Christ has DONE.

Religion emphasizes "BE" while salvation emphasizes "BEEN." Be a good
person, be a church member, be confirmed, be baptized. What matters most to
God is what we have BEEN, not what we are trying to BE. Without Christ, we
have already BEEN condemned (John 3:18). It is not that we will be condemned
some day if we end up being more bad than good.

When we receive Christ, the Bible tells us we have BEEN justified. The
relationship with Christ is a done deal. It cannot be reneged, undone, or
improved upon by anything we try to be or do.

Religion speaks of GETTING. Salvation speaks of RECEIVING. Some well-meaning
people think a person has to GET a certain feeling or emotion inside before
he/she is saved. Though emotions may play a role in our relationship with
God, they do not determine whether or not we have that relationship. John
1:12 tells us that salvation is RECEIVING. Man can produce emotional
responses, but he cannot generate salvation of his soul through any emotion
or feeling. Feelings and emotions are fickle. Salvation is firm and forever.

Religion puts emphasis on EXPERIENCE. Salvation is based on a RELATIONSHIP.
External EXPERIENCES - whether a vision, dream, or some other ecstatic event
- do not necessarily prove a RELATIONSHIP exists between us and God. The
fact that you belong to a particular earthly family is not based on any
experience you have in that family. Your membership in your family is based
on your birth into that family. It is exactly the same spiritually. "Except
a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God," Jesus said. "As many
as received Him, to them He gave the power [authority] to be the children of
God."

When we, by faith, realize Jesus has already DONE everything required for
our salvation, when we RECEIVE that salvation and have thus BEEN justified,
we have a RELATIONSHIP with Him. That is salvation. Anything short of this
is just "religion." Whatever religious tag or denomination you claim, have
you realized what Jesus has DONE for you? Have you RECEIVED Him by faith and
BEEN placed into His family? Do you have a personal RELATIONSHIP with Him
today?

THE LAST IMPRESSION.
When a local doctor began attending church services the minister was
delighted, and it wasn't long before they were helping each other in their
work, the minister referring people to the doctor, and vice versa.

One referral from the doctor called at the church office with a note
prescribing the minister's last four sermons. The minister was most pleased
until he discovered that the patient's problem was insomnia.

Sermon: Rahab's Lie By Brandon Bracey
   Scripture: Joshua 2 & Joshua 6:22-23

In the Book Of Joshua in the Old Testament, Joshua has been appointed
by God to lead the children of Israel into the Promised Land. Joshua, would be
Moses's successor and lead Israel into the land flowing with milk and honey. God
had promised this land to the descendants of Abraham back in the book of
Genesis. After wandering through the desert for many years, it was finally
Israel's time to possess the land. They would also conquer the land, led by
their leader Joshua, and God would lead them in battle to destroy those who were
wicked and evil. Joshua was told to be strong and courageous by God and God
would be faithful to be with Joshua & Israel.

Jericho was the first major city the Israelites set out to conquer. Jericho
sent out spies to look at the land. This was done to gather strategic
information about the city for the upcoming battle. Jericho was a heavily
fortified city and Joshua did not want to move ahead without information. The
spies decided to stop at the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stay there.
Why would they stay at a prostitute's house you ask? Well, one was that it was
a good place to ask information with no questions asked in return. Second,
Rahab's house was built into the city wall and that helped for a quick escape.
In Joshua's day it was common to build houses on city walls. Many cities had two
walls which were about 12 to 15 feet apart. Houses were built on wooden logs
laid across the top of the two walls. Rahab may have lived in such a house with
a window that looked out over the outside wall. Thirdly, God knew Rahab's heart
and directed the spies to her because he knew her
heart. Rahab would be very instrumental in the Israelite victory over Jericho.

But I noticed something about Rahab. Not only was she a prostitute, but she
was also a liar. As a prostitute Rahab was already living on the edge of
society. People would reject her simply because she was a prostitute. The King
sent a message to Rahab telling her to bring out the men who were in her house
and spying out the land. But Rahab lied and said she did not know where the men
came from and said they had left at dusk. But secretly Rahab knew what they were
doing and she had under the stalks of flax she had laid out on her roof. Flax
was harvested in the fields and piled high on the rooftops to dry. It was then
made into yarn which was used to make linen cloth. Flax grows to a height of
three or four feet. Stacked on the roof, it made an excellent hiding place for
the spies.

Rahab was fearful like the rest of Jericho because the Israelites were
coming to invade. Stories had been circulating about the Israelites for some
time now. In addtion, living on the wall made Rahab especially vulnerable. Rahad
could be killed if she were caught harboring the Israelites. So why would Rahab
lie? Rahab sensed that the Israelites relied on a God worth trusting. She relied
on God alone for her salvation.

However, does this truly justify the lie that Rahab told? Several
explanations could be offered such as God forgave Rahab's lie because of her
faith, or Rahab was simply deceiving the enemy. This was a normal practice at
wartime. Also, some may say Rahab was a Jew and could not be held responsible
for keeping the moral standards set forth in God's law. Others would say Rahab
broke a lesser principle, which is telling the truth, to uphold a higher
principle which is to protect God's law.

There may have been another way to protect the Israelites. But Rahab made a
decision under the pressure of the moment. Rahab had to make a choice. Most of
us will face decisions in our lives where we may feel there is no perfect
solution to our issue. These are what can be considered judgment calls.
However, God does not demand that out judgment be perfect in all situations, but
rather that we put our trust in him and do the best we know how.

Rahab took a risk and she was rewarded. The same woman who was inclined to
reject God, actually embraces God. The same woman who is often associated with
her profession, is blessed because of her faith. The same woman who could have
melted in her situation, rose above her situation. Rahab made a judgment call to
put her faith in the One True God. She is one of two women listed in the Hall
of Faith in Hebrews 11, and her lie is not mentioned. She also later became a
wife and is listed as an ancestor of David and Jesus. Rahab was resourceful and
willing to help others at a geat cost to herself. While lying is not good, Rahab
opted for the higher principle. Therefore, her and her family were saved.

Never let fear affect your faith in God's ability to move. God has not
given us the spirit of fear. Fear can cripple a vision, destroy a dream, and
ruin a life. But faith can cast out fear and launch us into an exciting realm of
possibility. It's takes faith to be saved, to have a great marriage, to be
healed, for finances, etc. Never estimate the power of strong and courageous
faith in your life. Rahab recognized something that many of the Israelites did
not. That is that we do not have an ordinary God- but an extraordinary God who
is all-powerful! It's wonderful that today we can worship this awesome, miracle
working God! He will not only destroy the wicked armies of Jericho, but also
save people from certain death like Rahab, like me, and like you!

If you have never accepted Jesus as Lord of your life please pray with me:
"Lord Jesus, I thank you for sheding your precious bloof for me at Calvary. I am
a sinner and I want to be cleansed from all unrighteousness. I repent of all sin
and ask you to come into my heart. I make you Lord over my life. Thank you Lord
Jesus for saving me. Thank you for a new beginning. Amen". If you have prayed
this prayer congratulations! It is now important that you attend a good
bible-based church where you can continue to grow in the grace and knowledge of
our Lord Jesus Christ. Please email me at: Brandon_Bracey00@... , so I
can assist you in your new beginning!

When our lives are focused on God, awe and wonder lead us to worship
                                   God,
filling our inner being with a fullness we would never have thought
                                possible.
Awe prepares the way in us for the power of God to transform us and
this transformation of our inner attitudes can only take place when awe

I carry a planner. I have dubbed it "My Life." More than once, when
someone has wanted to schedule time with me, I have said, "Wait, let me

Where do you keep your schedule? Find it, pick it up, look at it. No, I

your head, write it down, and then see how busy you really are.
What is your schedule like? If you are a typical American, your
schedule is full, full, full! You are running from work to go here, so
that you can get there, and do twelve more things before going home to
collapse and get ready for tomorrow. Not to mention, if you have a
family, there are sports practices and music lessons, homework, diapers,
baths, and so much more! It makes you tired just thinking about it all.
We are a people on the run - constantly. Yet, for all that we do,
we find ourselves often feeling empty. Why is that? Perhaps it is
because God never created us to have lives filled with "stuff", but
rather a life centered on him. Perhaps it's because we try to fill the
God-shaped hole in our hearts with things of the world, and the "square
peg" doesn't fit the round hole. Perhaps it is because, when we run all
over, we also run from God, the true giver of life and fulfillment.
God's deepest desire is for us to know him. When we run around like
frantic chickens, not only do we not know ourselves, we can't know God.
He's waiting, and he will wait. He won't shove his way into your life.
But if you dare, if you will be still, you will find what really fits
into your life - him.
So, today, look at your schedule, pray over it, and begin to ask
God to help you reshape your schedule, so that you have time to simply
be still, be in his presence, be with him. And, in slowing down enough
to spend time with him, you will find your life filled to overflowing
with so much more than you ever imagined.

God has been reminding me, lately, how much He loves me. He has done
                          that in several ways.
It has made me realize that I want more of Him in my life and I
                       sometimes fail miserably in
finding the time to spend with him. Why is it that we can find the time
to do anything else but spend time with the one person who loves us
unconditionally? Pray about that, in your life, will you?
