Mike,
I am primarily a baseball card set builder. I don't do any other sports. Just BASEBALL. I also collect Nolan Ryan, Chipper Jones and minor league stuff. Happy New Year, JERRY ROBERTSON

Thank you very much; a very Merry Christmas to you as well.

I am very impressed by a company that sends a Christian message with no ad attached. I have not been able to afford anything new in quite some time, but when things change (and they will), I will give you guys a look.

thanks again,
Jim

Subject: Is it time to buy or sell on Tiger Woods?

By Chris Olds - Editor, Beckett Magazine

Few athletes have had as polished an image, a brand, as Tiger Woods.

And when it comes to sports cards and memorabilia, Woods is among a select few
whose autographed items have been sure things if talking "investment" and future
strength based on what's been achieved and what should be to come.

Few autographs are in as much demand among living athletes than those penned by
Tiger.

But prolonged silence after an auto accident last week and a subsequent apology
today for "transgressions" — precisely what hasn't been stated, but most of us
can read between the lines — one thing's for sure.

That image, that brand, is no longer as polished. And that, combined with
injuries in recent years as well as the inevitable fact that his golf game will
diminish with age, one has to ask.

Is it time to buy or is it time to sell?

Is this the end of the bad news for Woods? A plea for privacy, a missed
tournament while in the midst of a tabloid frenzy in a TMZ world? Or are we all
awaiting that first public appearance to assess a scratched face more so than a
well-beyond-scratch golf game?

Or are we too caught up analyzing the damage done to his Cadillac Escalade,
undoubtedly paid for by one of Brand Tiger's biggest corporate sponsors, to
realize the damage that just might be done to his career? Have all of his
achievements been forgotten and turned into a punchline, one found in the
comments left on his own website:

"What's the difference between a car and a golf ball? Tiger Woods can drive a
ball 400 yards."

Few of the athletes in the Air of Woods' company lived in a world where their
every move could be documented via a mobile-phone and uploaded for the world.
Their transgressions went unnoticed — or at least undocumented beyond gossip
that went unpublished. Their images were perhaps questioned at times, yet never
tarnished, on their ways to the Hall of Fame or sporting immortality. Sure,
Tiger's thrown his fits on the fairway — one recent tossed club bouncing and
hitting a fan — but they just get chalked up to a competitive nature. And that
photographer-loving caddy? Think he'll like paparazzi? Do those free passes
exist any longer? Probably not with TMZ hot on Tiger's tail from here until
2020.

Is this the end of the bad news for Tiger? It's a valid question as there are
plenty of fans, collectors, investors and companies with interests in Woods.
After all, that just might be one of the reasons he remained so silent so far.
But why talk now? Is there more to come?

Woods' autograph is among the priciest in the sports world today, some might
argue his best Rookie Card is among the most important ever made — another
reason it's worth asking. High-ticket items will often be the ones to fluctuate
the most on the high-end when historic achievements are attained. And they also
have the most to lose, too.

The average value of a Tiger Woods autograph card is more than $1,000.

Think about that. An average value of $1,000 a card.

Considering that he's still alive, that might be too high. Considering he's the
world's most successful golfer who doesn't have to get out of bed unless there's
a seven-figure paycheck involved, perhaps they're not.

So, in essence, it's time to sell — and buy — Tiger Woods depending on which
side of the fence you're on.

We've seen other athletes in much messier situations — ones that end up in
courtrooms — where it seemed their images were forever tarnished for something
we may or may not know was done. Before the ruling from the Court of More-than
Public Opinion, some fans frenetically defended the athlete they didn't know
based on the image, the brand, that they saw. While others immediately discarded
them from their collections.

Some, but not many, of those athletes have gone on to new and unforeseen heights
in their careers.

But they also aren't Tiger Woods. They aren't the most high-profile athlete in
their sport. They haven't helped change their sport socially — a sport where
social status often has said plenty.

Brand Tiger has lost a lot. Truly how much? That has yet to be seen.

Upper Deck officials on Tuesday morning announced that the company stands in
full support of the embattled Tiger Woods and will continue fulfilling an
exclusive relationship with the golfing superstar that's been in place since
2001.

"Upper Deck will maintain its exclusive agreement with Tiger in both our sports
cards and memorabilia categories and we look forward to his eventual return to
the PGA Tour," said Richard McWilliam, Upper Deck's CEO and Founder. "Tiger and
his family have our full support."

Woods alone helped Upper Deck launch the mainstream golf trading card category
in 2001 and his signed memorabilia has been integral to the success of Upper
Deck Authenticated in recent years.

Has anyone seen the site at comic-covers.com? its a site with LOTS of comic
covers. Its a useful site to browse occasionsly.

This morning I found a page infected with a Clicker variant. Specifically
Trojan-Clicker.HTML.IFrame.amw.

What this Trojan does is remain resident in your WIndows memory and constantly
connects to various internet sites. This is done to fake visit counters so the
site owner can earn more money with their adds.

I think its reprehensible for a site owner to infect a visitors PC so they can
illegally make more money for their site adds.

Beware when entering this site. If you don't wish to buy anti virus software
then a number of free options are available. Avast antivirus is one of the
better ones. It can be found at the CNET site download.com

Superstar writer Mark Millar is no stranger to big events, and for two of his
biggest projects, fan favorite Canadian artist Steve McNiven has been riding
shotgun with the Scottish scribe.

After collaborating on Marvel Comics' best-selling "Civil War" in 2006 and 2007,
Millar and McNiven teamed up once more for the post-apocalyptic "Wolverine"
serial "Old Man Logan" in 2008 and 2009.

Five weeks ago, Millar and McNiven released a one-page teaser poster for their
third project, "Nemesis," with no information other than a release date: March
2010. Posters in the forums and the message boards throughout cyberspace have
speculated that the book was everything from an "X-Men" revamp to an "Avengers"
project and all points in between.

The guessing can stop now as earlier this week the two shared as much as they
could about their latest collaboration, a mini-series that will be released
through Marvel's Icon imprint starring Nemesis, a supervillain that Millar
compared to The Joker. The twist being that at his disposal, he had all of
Batman's gadgets and resources, and that his primary target was Millarworld's
answer to Commissioner Gordon.

CBR News: The two of you have developed quite a history working together, first
with "Civil War" and then with your follow up, "Old Man Logan," both massive
hits for Marvel. I guess teaming up for "Nemesis" was a no-brainer?

Mark Millar: I just love Steve. He's amazing. I'm just spoiled now. I can't
stand seeing the brilliant artists I've worked with work with other guys. I'm
like a psycho ex-girlfriend. The minute I come to the end of one project with
Steve or Hitchy [Bryan Hitch] or John Romita Jr. or somebody, I'm just thinking
of the next thing for them.

So Steve and I really had to do a third project together. We get along well,
even though he's Canadian, and we work really well together too. We've only done
two comics together before - "Civil War" and "Old Man Logan" - and both, like
you said, were massive books. So the logical next step was a creator-owned
project that shatters all records. We made Marvel a lot of money with these
first two projects, and we feel we paid our dues and we had fun writing and
drawing almost all of the characters that we'd ever want to do. But now we want
to create something. "Nemesis," we hope, is the next big thing. We're very
excited and think we have something quite unique here.

So when Mark called, Steve, you were ready to go?

Steve McNiven: Yes, definitely. Mark is fun to work with. He writes stuff that's
fun to draw, and that's great when you're not pulling out your hair. And he
makes me lots of money, too [laughs].

There's nothing wrong with that.

Millar: What? I'm in it for the craft, baby. Jeez, you make me feel like Jodie
Foster in "Taxi Driver." I didn't realize I'm just your wee cash cow [laughs].
Steve's Harvey Keitel and I'm Jodie Foster. [Laughs] I thought he loved me, but
now I see it's just about the cash.

OK. Before, we jump into this, let's put the rumors to rest. "Nemesis" is not an
Avengers project, or an X-Men project, or a Marvelman project. It's not even set
in the Marvel Universe. It's another world that you've created.

Millar: Absolutely. It's a Marvel book, technically, in the sense that it's
published by Marvel, but it comes out via Icon, and that means me and Steve own
all the rights. It's a sweet deal.

McNiven: It's great for Marvel to have an imprint there for us. It's really a
great place to do this kind of thing.

When we first emailed back and forth about this project, Mark, you teased me
with the tagline your friend suggested: "What if Batman was The Joker?' I guess
the answer to that is you'd have "Nemesis." What was the genesis of this
project?

Millar: Yeah, a lot of people who've read it have been coming up with hilarious
tag-lines. "What if Batman was The Joker?" is the tame one. Marvel President Dan
Buckley sort of paid me a compliment, saying, "This is such a stupidly simple
and obvious idea. I can't believe nobody's ever come up with it before. You are
the master of the stupidly simple idea." Which I suppose is kind of flattering.

But, yeah. "Nemesis" is a reversal of the Bruce Wayne or Tony Stark archetype.
What if this genius billionaire was just this total psycopath, and the only
thing that stood between him and a city was the cops? It's Batman versus
Commissioner Gordon, in a weird way. Or maybe a super-villain version of
"Se7en." A billionaire anarchist up against ordinary people. The Joker's the
best thing in the Batman movies, so this guy is a bit of an amalgamation of all
the stuff we like.

McNiven: And we didn't want to do a little creator-owned book. We wanted to do
something that shoots for the Top 10 and competes with "X-Men" or "The
Avengers." We want this to be as big as it possibly can be. We're aiming
directly at the mainstream, too, and have already set up some corporate backing
you've never seen in comics before, and international press. Mark has been
working overtime on this one.

Millar: I'm a great believer in creator-owned books not being small. I think
probably growing up in nineties' comics did that, seeing things like "Spawn" and
"WildCats" that did really well. I just love the idea of creator-owned books
outselling Marvel and DC even.

So the idea that you do your Marvel and DC stuff with big sales and then you do
your little creator-owned work on your own, I've never been a fan of that. I've
been really lucky that "Wanted" has sold hugely. So with this, I just wanted to
do the biggest one of the lot.

McNiven: Aim high, buddy.

Millar: I don't see why it shouldn't. Steve is the biggest-selling artist in
comics. If you add up all his sales and divide it by the number of books he's
done, he's the biggest selling artist by a mile. At the moment, he's the biggest
and best of this generation.

Steve, you need to hire Mark as your agent.

McNiven: I know. That's why I work with him.

Millar: It's totally true. There are guys who sell well, and then there's Steve.
It's just a different league. So the idea of getting Steve to go from "Civil
War" to "Old Man Logan" to this big, new creator-owned thing to me feels just
like Todd MacFarlane going from "Spider-Man" to "Spawn." It had to be huge.

Nemesis is the world's smartest man, and the bad news for us is that he's the
world's only super-villain. That means he's got freeze guns and jump-jets and
all these James Bond gadgets and he's using them against us. To entertain
himself, he picks a different cop every year and makes his life a misery. The
book opens with him messing over Japan's top cop, and then our story, the
mini-series, takes place as he shifts his attention to Washington and his first
American attacks. The visuals we've released here are just single panels from
the Japanese segment. It's the best stuff I've ever seen Steve do.

Do we get to see Nemesis in the Bruce Wayne role - the billionaire playboy, out
and about town?

Millar: I wanted it to be a kind of mystery. I liked the idea of having "who is
this guy?' as a plot thread running through it. Why does he keep going after
these cops and flying and training all around the world to end up in America to
take on this one guy? So we find out a little more about him every issue.

McNiven: It's a clever idea to switch it around so you don't have the origin at
the beginning, as opposed to Batman where you get it right at the beginning. I
think this makes it a little more of a compelling story.

Millar: It's the reverse superhero concept. A superhero story normally has a
linear fashion. You see how he becomes that guy, and then you see him in action.
But here, we've done the reverse. The origin comes at the end of the story. But
he's the Hannibal Lecter of supervillains in that sense. All the cops are needed
to go up against a guy as formidable as this. He's almost supernatural, he's so
good. But he happens to just be in a costume. Hopefully nobody's ever seen
anything like it before. We're so used to supervillains fighting superheroes, I
just thought, "Imagine if there was only one person on the planet like this, and
he was actually a bad guy." How would cops deal with him, even though he has no
super-powers?

Let's talk about the main cop, the Commissioner Gordon to Nemesis' Batman/Joker.
What can you tell us about him?

Millar: Very simply, I wanted to do a book about the world's greatest villain up
against America's greatest cop. I just liked the high concept of that - the idea
of a villain going around from country to country and having a battle of wits
with the best guy that he can get his hands on. And he sends them a little
funeral wreath with the date and time of when they're going to die on it, every
one dying at precisely that time. All these cops in the Pacific Rim are dead,
and then we come in at the American side of the story and see the struggle of
this guy in just trying to stop him.

Steve, can you speak about the look of Nemesis and the cop?

McNiven: Mark and I have been talking about it quite a bit. We want to make the
guys good looking. They're not ugly mugs. And they're relatively young, as well.
Even though Mark said this cop is Clint Eastwood-level good, it's like young
Clint Eastwood, not "Gran Torino" Clint Eastwood. Not that there is anything
wrong with that. We get great mileage out of the old guys. The visual is to try
and keep them very clean and very elegant and not go with giant belts and big
shoulder pads and pouches everywhere and that sort of stuff. We've tried to
streamline them and give them more of an iconic look.

We're just
talking about the different outfits right now. But Nemesis, being the central
figure, we really worked hard on his design. I started with more of a Midnighter
type of look, but we wanted to work with a white costume, something that really
stands out in the shadows. Very much the antithesis of a Batman costume with the
cape, as well. But in working out that initial design, we realized it was a
little too bulky, too much armor. We wanted something smoother and simpler, and
so we really distilled it down to something that's almost the bare essence of a
costume. A lot of the impact of the costume is going to be more in the acting of
the character, as opposed to some costumes where you have giant shoulder pads
and huge guns and all that stuff, and it takes the place of any particular
acting on the character. This one is stripped down, and we're trying to let the
character of Nemesis come through.

Millar: Almost the way Batman was a good guy dressed in black, we've reversed
that to the bad guy dressed in white. It just seemed obvious to me. And there
are so few characters out there wearing white, it's actually an unusual look in
comics. There are loads of red and loads of blue and loads of black. We wanted a
guy that's very, very visually distinctive. When Steve sent through the first
drawings, I had never really seen anything like that before. He looked quite
beautiful for a bad guy. It almost looked like a costume made of moonlight, just
because it was this shining light material. It's visually quite stark, but it
also looks like something people could wear in the real world. Again, this is
set in our world. It's not a superhero universe.

Mark, you're no stranger to having your projects being picked up as movie
properties. Have you already had those talks about "Nemesis"?

Millar: We actually got a call a few weeks ago when the teaser poster went up on
CBR. We were pretty crafty about this in terms of how we marketed this. We had a
poster out that said, "'Civil War,' 'Old Man Logan,' 'Nemesis,'" and teased it
as a potential big event for Marvel. The number of people talking about it and
guessing was just insane, which we loved.

And Marvel was very good about it, not contradicting us. But what was funny was
that I got a call from my agent that night - and it was funny because all we did
was release a date and a title and no information. And my agent called and said
two producers had been in touch saying, "We're really big fans of this book that
Mark and Steve are doing. We really like it." Are the rights available?"
[laughs].

McNiven: That, my friend, is the definition of Hollywood insincere.

Millar: I know [laughs]. I couldn't believe it. But it made me realize how lucky
I was my first picture making $350 million and getting Angelina [Jolie] in it. I
remember what it was like, literally being unable to pay my bills nine years
ago, so to have this level of interest when I couldn't sell a book not very long
ago is just amazing.

McNiven: Sniff. I'm so touched I think I'm going to cry.

Millar: So, yeah, if a movie happens, great. If a bed-spread and lunch-box
happens, great. But we're really just focusing on the comic. Anything else is
gravy and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Millar, McNiven, "Nemesis," March 2010. Gentlemen, thanks so much for for your
time.

The latest array of bat knob cards adds to short and unique niche.

While Billy Ripken still has the most memorable bat knob in hobby history, the
latest baseball card set from Topps certainly is giving him some competition.

Among the tough-to-find insert cards in 2009 Topps Unique are Bat Knob Relics,
which have a piece cut from a player's game-used bat. (You can guess which
part.)

Found at a rate of one in more than 50,000 packs, Unique has 110 knob cards to
be found — all 1/1s — between the standard and autographed sets. But what's
interesting is how this release affects the total population of a very small
niche in the hobby.

It raises the total number of bat knob cards listed in the Beckett.com database
to just 551 different cards — and just 132 of those are autographed. How many of
those 132 came from Unique? Just 95.

How many overall knob cards exist? A majority of them are 1/1s, while some —
cards with knob-size cuts touted to be from the South end of a bat — have as
many as 10 copies. And, in all, there are just 17 memorabilia card sets that
include bat knob pieces — and most of them pale in comparison to Topps' 2005
Pristine knob inserts, which was — and remains — the largest set of knob cards
on the market, despite Unique's arrival.

Does including a vast array of bat knobs in Unique deplete Topps' inventory that
has been building since 2005?

"Like you said, we have not done bat knobs in some time, so we had a nice little
inventory of these pieces," said Topps' Clay Luraschi. "We have a handful left,
but not that many.

"There are many Unique pieces that can be found on cards in this product."

The first bat knob memorabilia card was released in the 2002 Fleer Fall Classics
Series of Champions Bat Knob insert set, however most of those cards were just
knob cuts. (There were 10 copies of each card made.)

The largest set to use knobs were the 2005 Topps Pristine Power Core Bat Knob
and Power Stick Bat Knob sets, which each had more than 130 players featured.
The Power Core cards infamously had the player's name and the bat knob
designation burned into the wood (not a popular choice with this collector),
while the Power Stick cards were 1/1s with the bottom of the knob.

Earlier this year, the 2009 Topps Triple Threads set also include bat knob cards
— as booklets — impressive pieces to say the least.

Just a handful of the newest knob cards have arrived on the auction block and
only one has sold so far — a Ben Zobrist with his uniform number affixed atop a
sticker on the knob — for $232.50. Other bat knobs on the auction block are
interestlingly devoid of markings, something that often gives game-used bats
their charm and adds a level of authenticity.

Some players consistently mark their bats a certain way — or use a variation of
a phrase, saying or other info — so they can grab their bats off the rack at a
glance when they head to the plate. After all, staring at a rack of unmarked bat
knobs could make things a bit more challenging than they need to be when
readying to face a 100-mph fastball.

For example, New York Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher marks nearly all of his
game bats with "BLS", the initials of his grandmother who raised him and died
from cancer in 2005, as a tribute as well as an easy reminder. Not all of his
bats will carry this marking, but those that do will command a bit more interest
from collectors who appreciate the unusual characteristics that players will
have with their trusty warclubs, whether it's the handle taping, pine tar
application areas, knob markings or other modifications.

Hopefully we'll see more variety in the rest of the bat knob cards that
collectors find in packs of Unique.

Apparently the curse of the perpetually late Barry Allen has caught up with his
resurrection series, now that Flash: Rebirth #6 is delayed until at least Jan.
27, 2010.

The issue was originally solicited to ship Sept. 30, 2009. Aside from its ties
to "Blackest Night," DC has offered no explanations for the continuing delays on
this mini-series.

Another founder of what has become Comic-Con International: San Diego has died.
Ken Krueger, who co-founded the event with Shel Dorf and others in 1970,
succumbed to heart failure Nov. 21.

Born in the late 1920s, Krueger was an active fixture in both science-fiction
and comics fandom, beginning with letters written to science-fiction magazines
at age 11 in 1938, and attendance at the first science-fiction convention in New
York City in 1939. According to Terry Kemp's biography of Krueger, published in
Vegas Fandom Weekly #100 (Sept. 4, 2007), Krueger "hosted" a gathering of
science-fiction fans and writers at his parents' home in Buffalo in 1944.
(Unfortunately, he had forgotten to tell his mother about the group he had
invited.)

In the 1940s and 1950s, Krueger was involved in several publishing ventures,
which led to his West Coast bookstore work and ownership in the 1960s and
beyond. That involvement included ownership of Alert Books in Ocean Beach,
Calif.

At Pacific Comics, he helped publish the early work of such creators as Dave
Stevens, Jim Valentino, and Scott Shaw! Later, he worked for Capital City
Distribution, managing the comics distributor's Los Angeles-area warehouse. On
his retirement from that position, the company threw him a party, but found that
Krueger never truly retired. He was a constant visitor to Comic-Con and attended
the show's 40th anniversary celebration this past July.

Krueger was also a lifelong collector of comics and related items. ICv2.com's
Milton Griepp recalled his first visit to Krueger's home in Sparta, Ill., in his
obituary. "One of the rooms in that house was stacked floor to ceiling with
boxes, wall to wall with no aisles, up to the door. And that wasn't the only
place in his house where he had portions of his collection."

In addition to his organization of the early San Diego conventions, Krueger
brought a level of professionalism to the show.

A memorial service is planned in upstate New York at a later date.

Comics fan, comics professional, and convention organizer Shel Dorf died Nov. 3,
at Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego after a lengthy hospitalization. A
funeral was held Nov. 4.

Born in Detroit, Mich., July 5, 1933, Dorf was a comics fan from an early age,
maintaining scrapbooks of his favorite comic strips. His interest in those
strips led to friendships with many of their creators, including Steve Canyon
creator Milton Caniff, who hired Dorf to letter the strip during the last 14
years of its run.

In the 1960s, Dorf, along with other Detroit-area fans, began the Detroit Triple
Fan Fair. When he relocated to San Diego, he and other fans in that area began
what became Comic-Con International: San Diego, which celebrated its 40th
anniversary in 2009. Dorf was president and/or chairman of the convention for
several years.

The list of Dorf's many accomplishments is difficult to sum up and those above
are only a very brief summary of the contributions that Dorf made to the comics
hobby and industry throughout his life.

A "Shel Dorf New Talent Encouragement Fund" has been established by Shel's
brother, Michael, to remember those whose careers Shel helped start and to help
the careers of other new artists.

heroscardsan...

Garbage Pail Kids, the 1980s trading card parody of the Cabbage Patch Kids toys
(and really much, much more in pop culture), are returning with a new set from
Topps that pays tribute to many of the memorable original cards from the 1980s.

Scheduled for a mid-February release, Garbage Pail Kids Flashback is a 160-card
set (two named versions of 80 drawings) that includes some of the most
memorable kids from the past classic sets along with nine "lost" Kids that never
made the cut back in the mid-1980s.

One subset of cards in the release – "Where are They Now?" — updates a few of
the memorable Kids from the past, showing them what they might look like today.
(You know, the Kids grew up… )

Each hobby box includes 24 packs and they carry a suggested retail price of $2 a
pack. Unlike in the original sets, which were merely sticker cards, this new
edition of the Garbage Pail Kids includes some higher-end chase cards.

Like what?

Hand-drawn 1/1 Sketch Cards drawn by artists in the set — these haven't been
done since the Series 4 set a few years ago. (The GPK's never really went away…
the classic ones have just returned for this release.) Also to be found are 1/1
printing plates — the actual metal plates used to print the cards. (Four colors
per card — Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black.)

Also planned are four parallel sets, which will have different borders than the
standard cards — they're Gross Green, Punk Pink, Silver and Gold. Only 85 Gold
sets will be made, while the others will be found as many as six times per box.

Finally, there will be Loco Motion cards (three per box), which will animate 10
Kids, allowing their grossness to go where no GPK had gone before.

Topps officials on Monday confirmed that the company has secured an exclusive
multi-year deal with Minor League Baseball.

The agreement, which takes effect beginning Jan. 1, 2010, grants Topps the
exclusive rights to produce nationally distributed trading cards of top draft
picks and prospects within Minor League Baseball, and will give Topps the rights
to names and logos of the 160 affiliated Minor League clubs and current Minor
League players in uniform on baseball cards and stickers. The deal also means
Topps is the only company that can use Minor League Baseball's Pro Debut logo.

The company's first officially licensed Minor League product will be 2010 Topps
Pro Debut Series 1, set to release in March.

"Topps is excited to become the official baseball card of Minor League Baseball
as many of the young players today will be stars in the Major Leagues tomorrow,"
said Warren Friss, Topps General Manager. "Now we're the only trading card
licensed by both Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball and we look
forward to a lasting relationship with both leagues."

"Many fans begin to follow their favorite players as they become standout stars
in the Minor Leagues, and a major avenue to build this connection is through
collecting their Minor League cards," said Howard Smith, Senior Vice President
of Licensing for Major League Baseball.

Minor League Baseball and Topps annually recognize the top prospects in baseball
with the Topps Player of Month Awards and year-end classification all-star
teams. "We are pleased to extend our long-standing relationship with The Topps
Company into licensed trading cards," said Minor League Baseball President Pat
O'Conner. "This provides us with a unique opportunity to continue recognizing
the be stand brightest minor league talent while providing our fans and
collectors high-quality trading card products."

Earlier this year, Topps became the first exclusive baseball card company of
Major League Baseball in nearly 30 years.

Breakout Player of the Week:
Vince Young, QB, Titans
(387 yards passing, 1 touchdown)
We realize that Young is not your typical breakout playersince he was the
Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2006. However, manyfootball experts and plenty
of collectors had written off the once-hotrookie as a bust. Since 2006 many of
his best cards have dropped invalue by as much as 60 percent, and most have
decreased in value byhalf. Young logged the highest single-game passing yardage
total of hiscareer vs. the Cardinals on Sunday and his game was solid again for
thefifth straight week.

The most important part of Young's performance was the improbablegame-winning
99-yard touchdown drive he engineered. On that remarkablemarch, Young converted
three fourth downs, including the clinchingtouchdown pass with no time left.
That's the Young we all remember fromthe 2006 Rose Bowl and the one most
collectors had hoped to see in theNFL. We're not convinced just yet that Young
is a superstar, but a fewof his low- print-run, mid-price-range Rookie Cards
would be worthy ofa buy.

Cards to Grab:

2006 Topps Paradigm #95 AU/99 RC ($100)

Veteran of the Week:
Philip Rivers, QB, Chargers
(317 yards passing, 2 touchdowns)

Rivers is quietly having a monster year. He's been overshadowed byother hot
quarterbacks, namely Brett Favre, Drew Brees, and PeytonManning, so collectors
have yet to jump on buying his top 2004 RookieCards in earnest. Rivers is
currently fifth in the league in passingyardage, eighth in touchdowns and fifth
in quarterback rating. He andthe Chargers have been on a six-week offensive tear
comparable to anyother team in the league.

The team has some challenging games in December that include theCowboys and
Titans on the road and the Bengals at home. If Rivers canplay well in those
games and win at least two of them, then there's agreat chance for upward
movement in his top cards.

Rookie of the Week:
Kenny Britt, WR, Titans
(128 yards receiving, 1 touchdown)

Collectors have been waiting for a big game from Britt and theyfinally got one
on Sunday. Britt made a leaping grab on the final playof the game for the
winning touchdown against the Cardinals. He alsocaught passes on two other
critical fourth downs in the game. We shouldsee plenty more of Britt on the
field as the final month of the regularseason unfolds. There's a great chance
that Britt's cards will see anincrease in activity this week and could remain
hot if he is able tobuild on Sunday's performance.
