As many of you will now be aware, the United States of America has
just seen one of the largest single terrorist attacks ever, starting
at 8:45am on September 11, 2001.

Four hijacked American and United Airlines planes have crashed, two
into the World Trade Center's two towers just 18 minutes apart, one
into the Pentagon an hour later, and one apparently missing its
intended target and crashing in Pennsylvania, southeast of
Pittsburgh. Over 260 passengers and crew were killed on the 4
aircraft, and an untold number have been killed and injured
on the ground.

The World Trade Center's two 110-story towers, which have 40,000 to
50,000 staff, have been completely destroyed, as well as the nearby
Building 7. Reports also say the Marriott Hotel near the World Trade
Center is on the verge of collapse.

New York City reports at least 78 police officers missing, 200
firefighters presumed dead, although this number will surely be
updated in the next few hours.

My family and I would like to send our condolences to everyone
affected directly and indirectly by this deplorable incident, and let
you all know that we are thinking of you in your hour of need. I know
a few of you live in and around the New York area, and at least one
works at the World Trade Center. If you get the time, I would
appreciate a quick note letting us know you are all OK.
