It appears as though Riding the Bullet was a great marketing success
in many ways, but it did not take long for Hackers to crack the PDF
files, or create text versions of the book.
Pirated versions have been floating on the internet ever since March
17, and while many ISPs have removed the decrypted files, they are
still available from a number of sites, including one prominant Swiss
site. This proves the weakness in PC-based eBook distribution
systems.

While on the topic of Riding the Bullet, King himself was prevented
from downloading his own story, since he uses a Macintosh, and the
story was only available in PC-compatible formats. (Unless he visited
one of the "Hacked version" sites :-)
He also told TIME that the 500,000 or so copies "sold" will earn him
at least $450,000 for his story, beating the $10,000 he says top
magazines such as PLAYBOY and the NEW YORKER would have paid.

Low Men In Yellow Coats has been nominated for best novel and HEARTS
IN ATLANTIS for best fiction collection in the Bram Stoker Award. We
will know who wins in early May. More information can be found at

It may seem odd that Low Men In Yellow Coats was in the novel
category, but the group considered the story's 90,000 words in the
realm of a novel, rather than a short story. Considering that no one
would doubt Carrie (at 61,000 words) was a novel, I think the
decision was a correct one.
In the Screenplay section, The Green Mile by Frank Darabont was also
nominated.
