Another Australian has joined the ranks of those nominated for
international literary awards.
Rocky Wood, from Melbourne, has been nominated for a Stoker Award (in
the Superior Achievement in NONFICTION section) by the Horror Writers
Association, the peak body in the horror genre.
Stephen King, Uncollected, Unpublished was written by Rocky Wood,
with David Rawsthorne (Owner & operator of Horrorking.Com - i.e.
ME!!!) and Norma Blackburn.
Rocky is nominated for Superior Achievement in Non-Fiction for his
book Stephen King, Uncollected, Unpublished, published in both the
United States and Australia. The Stokers are named for Bram Stoker,
the author of Dracula, and are regarded as the premier horror genre
awards each year. Previous winners include Stephen King, Joyce Carol
Oates, Ray Bradbury, Anne Rice and Ira Levin.
Wood, who lives in South Yarra, has been a non-fiction writer for 30
years. His nominated work is the second of his three books on
Stephen King's works. "Obviously, it is very exciting to be
nominated for such a prestigious international literary award, one
that has been won by idols of mine such as Stephen King, Ray Bradbury
and Peter Straub, " he said, "I'm also pleased that writing by an
Australian, published in Australia, has been recognised by my peers
in the HWA." The book covers 99 of Stephen King's obscure or
unpublished works. King gave Wood access to his archives at the
University of Maine and allowed an unpublished story and a poem to
appear in the book. "It was a great buzz when King allowed me to
include a great horror tale he wrote in 1970 and a poem with an
unlikely subject Dean Martin!" Wood said.
Wood will attend the Awards Dinner in Toronto, Canada on 31 March
with his wife before embarking on his third research trip to Stephen
King's native state of Maine, USA.

Not as lot of other updates to Horrorking Com have happened lately as
my daughter has been rather sick for a few months. She was finally
diagnosed with a rather unusual infection of the tonsils, so a simple
surgery to remove her tonsils last friday has seen her return to
normal.
I hope to include the people lists & links for a few books, including
Liseys Story, in the next few days.

Hi everyone,
Two new Stephen King related books have just been announced by

the world. Over 560 articles are reviewed in depth, including movie
and book reviews, letters to the editor, introductions to other

Macabre and On Writing.

Normally I don't do reviews of Movies as a separate page on
Horrorking, but this time I thought I would make an exception. The
short story "The Mangler" was always a favourite of mine, but when I
watched the original movie, I was not all that impressed, as they
might have captured the gore, but they missed the sense of doom
before and after the machine claimed its first victim. Now there is a
second chance, well in this case, a third one, when The Mangler
Reborn, the second terrifying sequel to King's short Story "The
Mangler", is released on DVD in the UK on the 16th of October 2006
The story starts with washing machine repairman, Hadley Watson, who
is working on his latest contraption - an industrial apparatus
boasting mechanical arms with blades, and a mouth, sporting rotating
saw-like teeth. What Watson does not know is that the machine
contains parts from the original Mangler, and it roars to life after
Watson accidentally cuts himself on one of the machine's gears.
Possessed by his deadly creation, the man is transformed into its
living form. Now the only way for him to survives is to feed on the
machines fresh victims.
The Mangler Reborn is the latest terrifying chapter in Stephen King's
hit franchise and boasts gritty thrills and chills that hark back to
such 70's classics as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Halloween.
Featuring Aimee Brooks (Critters 3, Blossom), Reggie Bannister
(Phantasm), Weston Blakesley (Malcolm in the Middle, The West Wing)
and Scott Speiser.
Horrorking will be giving away a number of copies of the DVD to lucky
UK readers. To enter the competition, see
http://www.horrorking.com/manglerreborn.html

for Memory ( http://www.horrorking.com/rare_works.htm#memory )
Also Added Lisey's Story page, but there is no real information about

STEPHEN KING: UNCOLLECTED, UNPUBLISHED
99 Dark Secrets from the World of Stephen King
The most informative look yet at the dark secrets of the Stephen
King world 48 tales by the master of horror that have never been
included in a King collection; and 51 stories that have never been
published.
With unprecedented access to Stephen King's archives at the
University of Maine and the `rediscovery' of fourteen previously
unknown King works the authors present a compelling tour of the
Stephen King you've never read. From novels to short stories,
screenplays to poems this book is undoubtedly the most comprehensive
gathering of information about Stephen King's fiction ever compiled.
Bonus Feature: Two New Works by Stephen King
Stephen King: Uncollected, Unpublished contains the first
publication of two previously unpublished King works:
An entire chapter from King's lost novel Sword in the Darkness
Chapter 71 is a classic King horror story set in the pre-war woods
of Maine, a study in love, madness and loss. `As a stand alone
effort this tale would represent one of the top ten of King's short
stories' Rocky Wood. Also: a rare King gem the poem Dino.
The Book for Every King `Constant Reader' and Fan
The result of six years intensive research Stephen King:
Uncollected, Unpublished includes a complete Bibliography of all
King's fiction and non-fiction; a study of over 100 works King has
revised for republication (there are two versions of The Green
Mile); reveals the five great sweeping `Realities' into which all
King fiction falls, including the classic Dark Tower worlds; and
reveals the works that even King has lost over the years!
Lead author Rocky Wood is one of the world's leading King
authorities and visited King's home state of Maine twice researching
this book. With unprecedented access to material from sources
including King's private papers at the University of Maine the
authors have created the ultimate Guide to the Lost World of Stephen
King. This book even includes practical advice on finding and
reading these lost 99 works!
This amazingly thorough and incredibly detailed book provides the
only look that most King fans - even the most ardent - will ever get
at unpublished works in King's archives. It also explores the
variations - sometimes considerable - in King works that have been
published more than once. Enjoyable, illuminating reading and a
valuable resource.

to the Horrorking forum (Located at
http://www.horrorking.com/phpBB/index.php for those that are
interested). Please join up as I might consider a different bonus

They have both been sent a new paperback copy of "The Talisman"
book, plus a copy of Chapter 71 of Sword in the Darkness, as was
recently printed in the Weekend Australian newspaper over 2 weeks.
I have considered "Auctioning" a copy of the story, posted to the
winner, with proceeds going to a local charity (The aged care
facility where my 89 year old grandfather was placed last week).
This auction would be done via the forum or email in the next few
weeks - please email me, or reply on the forum if you think this
would be something you may be interested in.
-----
I have started on Steves new book Cell, and for those of you that
don't have the book yet, GO GET IT! It's a great read. I hope to
have the character list and links up in 2 to 3 weeks.
-----
Many of you have commented for the forum and email about "Stephen
King: Uncollected, Unpublished", and lack of comments on the forum
as well as via the mailing list. All I can say is that I won't be
mentioning anything about it until the limited Cemetery Dance books
have been shipped to those that have purchased it already. There are
still some available, and the books are excellently produced, like
all the CD books I have in my collection!
These things take time, as many of you can understand, but the wait
will be worth it.

The Secretary of Dreams
by Stephen King
World Fantasy Award winner Cemetery Dance Publications, critically
acclaimed artist Glenn Chadbourne, and New York Times bestselling
author Stephen King are proud to announce The Secretary of Dreams,
the master of horror's first unabridged graphic short story
collection!
Featuring a half-dozen classic tales of terror personally selected by
King, this collection presents his stories for the first time in the
tradition of the pulp horror comics. Spanning close to 250 oversized
pages, the hundreds of illustrations and full comic panels from
acclaimed Maine artist Glenn Chadbourne transform The Secretary of
Dreams into a work of art. Not one word from King's stories has been
left out, but now they've been brought to life by hundreds of pen and
ink drawings by Chadbourne! The featured stories are: "The Road Virus
Heads North," "Uncle Otto's Truck," "The Rainy Season," "The
Reach," "Jerusalem's Lot," and "Home Delivery."
This exclusive Cemetery Dance title will feature an oversized deluxe
trim-size and is available in three editions: a slipcased Gift
Edition limited to 5,000 copies, a traycased deluxe Limited Edition
limited to 750 copies signed by King and Chadbourne, and a deluxe

Stephen King: Uncollected, Unpublished is nearly here! The book is
the most comprehensive review of the Stephen King works you've never
read. Best of all, it will feature the first book publication of two
lost works written by King, including an entire chapter from King's
unpublished 1970 novel Sword in the Darkness that has never been
published anywhere in the world!

Now for the special offer!
Sometime in the next couple of weeks, Cemetery Dance Publications
(http://www.cemeterydance.com) will be announcing a new Stephen King
book called The Secretary of Dreams. Although they can't share more
information about the book just yet (please don't email them!), they
have prepared a special offer for Horrorking.com visitors to take
advantage of when the book is announced! Here are the details:
When The Secretary of Dreams is announced, order a copy from Cemetery
Dance and mention "Horrorking" in the COMMENTS section of the
checkout form. If you do, you'll automatically be entered into a
random drawing for a FREE Advanced Readers Copy of The Secretary of
Dreams!
Cemetery Dance has reserved FIVE review copies for Horrorking.com
visitors which means five of you will be among the first people in
the world to experience The Secretary of Dreams! But this contest
will only run for ONE WEEK after the announcement so you'll want to
get your order in fast so you don't miss out!
(For those who don't know, review copies are printed in trade
paperback form exclusively for reviewers and they ship BEFORE the
book is actually published! This is so the reviews can be written
before a book's publication date.)
If you forget to mention this website on your order form, you will
NOT be entered into the drawing! Unfortunately, due to the number of
orders they'll be processing, Cemetery Dance cannot add the contest
entry notation to your order after it is placed. You must mention
this website in the COMMENTS section when you checkout. Sorry, no
exceptions.
(This offer is also being made to a few other groups so if you see it
somewhere else, make sure to note the name of that website! Every
participating website is getting FIVE review copies for their
visitors, which means every site you mention in the COMMENTS section
when you place your order will increase your odds of winning! Odds
of winning will depend on the number of qualifying entries for each
website. Winners will be selected by Cemetery Dance sometime between
the end of the contest and when the review copies are printed.
Winners will be notified by email. All decisions of Cemetery Dance
Publications are final.)
Good luck, and keep watching for the The Secretary of Dreams
announcement in the next few weeks!

From Lilja's library:
Stephen King is auctioning off the name and description of a
character in a future book for charity.
"One (and only one) character name in a novel called CELL, which is
now in work and which will appear in either 2006 or 2007. Buyer
should be aware that CELL is a violent piece of work, which comes
complete with zombies set in motion by bad cell phone signals that
destroy the human brain. Like cheap whiskey, it's very nasty and
extremely satisfying. Character can be male or female, but a buyer
who wants to die must in this case be female. In any case, I'll
require physical description of auction winner, including any
nickname (can be made up, I don't give a rip)."

A new book, titled "The Road to the Dark Tower" has been released by
Bev Vincent through Cemetery Dance.
This book is the first critical analysis of Stephen King's Dark Tower
series. Bev Vincent examines each of the seven component books and
the series as a whole, exploring themes and influences, tracing the
connections that radiate from the Dark Tower into many of King's
other works, including Salem's Lot and The Stand. A number of King's
other novels (including Insomnia, Black House and Hearts In Atlantis)
help illuminate the slowly unraveling mystery of the Tower, the
Crimson King, and mysterious characters known as Breakers and low men.
AVAILABLE IN TWO VERSIONS:
Limited Edition of 1,000 signed & slipcased copies: $75
Traycased Lettered Edition of 52 signed and lettered copies (bound
in leather, with satin ribbon page marker and additional full-color
artwork, and featuring an original Dark Tower drawing from Glenn
Chadbourne on each signature sheet to make every copy of the Lettered
Edition unique!): $350

Hi all.
Well finally I hope to get back to sending updates and King related
information by the list instead of by normal email and the chatroom.
How many of you saw the first episode of Kingsom Hospital a few days
ago? The reviews I have read seems very split - Some said it was
great, while others thought it poor. Since I have yet to see the
episodes, I'd love to hear your views on what it was like. You can
email me at webmaster@...

IN THEATRES, APRIL 8
"Writing means revealing oneself to excess." Franz Kafka
Starring: Johnny Depp, John Turturro
Maria Bello, Timothy Hutton
Charles S. Dutton
Directed & Adapted by: David Koepp
Though he knows he should be at his computer writing another book, or
at least walking his dog along the sparkling lake outside his dingy
cabin, successful author Mort Rainey (Johnny Depp) is sleeping on his
favorite sofa for up to 16 hours a day. He is in the midst of a
painful divorce and everything about the breakup has turned messy and
unpleasant. It has sapped his energy and siphoned away his
creativity, leaving him with a monumental case of writer's block
that
renders him incapable of even stringing a simple sentence together.
Then, when it seems as if things can't possibly get worse, a
psychotic stranger named John Shooter (John Turturro) shows up at his
doorstep, accuses Rainey of plagiarizing his story and demands
satisfaction. Despite Rainey's efforts to placate him, Shooter
becomes increasingly insistent and hostile, intimating a twisted sort
of justice that could include cold-blooded murder.
Forced into a mind-bending game of cat and mouse, Rainey discovers
that he has more cunningness and gritty determination than he ever
imagined. In the end, he realizes that elusive Shooter may know him
better than he knows himself.

DISCOVERY OF NEW STORIES FROM STEPHEN KING
At the launch today of the `The Complete Guide to the Works of
Stephen King' by Rocky Wood, David Rawsthorne and Norma Blackburn, a
5110 page book published on CD-ROM, it was revealed that ten
previously unknown stories by best-selling writer Stephen King have
been discovered.
These stories were hidden in the archives of his alma mater, the
University of Maine at Orono, where Mr King has lodged many of his
papers at the Special Collections Unit of the Raymond Fogler Library
over the years. Today, 74 boxes of manuscripts, papers, proofs and
other material are available to researchers, although some boxes have
restricted access, requiring written permission from Mr King.
"We were delighted and amazed to discover these new stories while
researching our Guide", co-author, Rocky Wood said at the launch.
Full details of each story have been included in the CD-ROM.
"It is well known that there are over a dozen unpublished King short
stories, screenplay and novels," said Mr Wood, who travelled from
Australia to Orono, Maine late last year to read many of those works,
which are only available at the Library. He spent several weeks
combing every item in each box.
"I felt like an archaeologist discovering a hidden tomb when I came
across the first unknown story," Mr Wood said. A number of other
manuscripts were found and researched with the assistance of Mr
King's office but were shown not to be his work. "It was really like
being a private investigator combing through the boxes then hours of
research to ensure the credentials of each work".
Completed works are `Mobius', a 3600 word complete Science Fiction
story and `They Bite' is a 116 page Screenplay in an Alien/Science
Fiction style and appears to have been written about 1976.
Incomplete, are a selection of works including the longest story,
untitled by Mr King but given the name `The Huffman Story' by the
Guide's authors. "There are 71 well developed pages in this story,
which is eerily reminiscent of the murders in `The Dead Zone' and of
King's mythical town, Castle Rock, Maine," Wood said. "King's
trademark of characters the reader is immediately interested in is
very apparent in this piece." Another unfinished piece, `Comb Dump'
is a mystery story set in a Maine psychiatric hospital.
Stephen King is famous for his journals where he writes thoughts and
stories, some containing up to ten different pieces of work. Four of
the incomplete stories were found in King's handwriting in such a
journal. "Strangely, this was the very last box I checked and there
they were, four more gems", Mr Wood commented. Using King's titles
in the journal they have been dubbed `Muffe', `The
Evaluation', `Movie Show' and `Chip Coombs'. "It is stunning to
observe how clean and clear King's writing is in his first
handwritten draft," Mr Wood said.
The two other partial stories were started with King's sons, Owen and
Joseph. `But Only the Darkness Loves Me' is headed `by Stephen and
Joseph King'. `I Hate Mondays' is headed, `by Stephen and Owen King'.
`The Complete Guide to the Works of Stephen King' is available on-
line at www.horrorking.com for US$49.95. It is the result of three
years' work by the three King experts and is expected to set a
standard as the key King reference work for many years to come. Full
details about the Guide are available at the site.

P.S. I'm 2/3 the way into redesigning Horrorking with a new look. I
hope to be finished by the end of May. Look out for the new look &
feel, but all the information will still be there!
As many of you know, 110% of my spare time that normally used to go
into Horrorking, has been taken up with the CD that is due out this
month. As part of that CD we would like to announce the
following 'New' Story details.
Hopefully, after a week off at the end of the CD production, I will
have time to do some serious updated to Horrorking, and get back to
writing regular newsletters :)

`NEW' STEPHEN KING STORY FOUND IN MAINE
The authors of the upcoming `The Complete Guide to the Works of
Stephen King' are pleased to announce that they have included the
details of a previously unknown story by Stephen King in their
publication.
The story, titled `Codename: Mousetrap' was originally published in
King's high school newspaper in his senior year, 1965. The story was
originally re-discovered by a teacher, Ms Prudence Grant, while
cleaning her files in 2001 after retiring from Lisbon High School in
Maine.
Ms Grant put the newspaper up for auction on Ebay and Kerry Johnson,
a collector of all things King for over twenty years, purchased it.
Stuart Tinker of Betts Bookstore, a specialist King bookseller in
Bangor, Maine brought the existence of the story to the attention of
one of the Guide's co-authors, Rocky Wood last December during a
research trip to King's home town. Wood was recently able to secure
Johnson's agreement to write the first ever description of `Codename:
Mousetrap' as a Chapter in the `Guide'.
`We are very pleased to bring this story to the attention of the King
community and the public generally,' Wood said this week. `Full
details of the story, including a summary appear in the Guide, which
will be published in May 2003'. Ms Grant was one of King's advisors
when he served on the Lisbon High School newspaper, `The Drum'.
Research confirms this was King's only piece of fiction in the paper.
`The Complete Guide to the Works of Stephen King', a 3000 page
reference work published on CD ROM, is the most comprehensive study
of King's body of fiction ever published, covering 269 Works.

news is that my pre-release copy had a few changes before the book

FAB8 to update the character list. It should only be a few weeks.

PARANOID GOES "HI-REZ" ONLINE
Los Angeles, CA (February 1, 2002) - Officially, the first Stephen
King "Dollar-Baby" to receive permission to be released on the
Internet, Paranoid, which premiered on iFilm.com last Friday, is now
available in a hi-resolution downloadable version on the official
website www.paranoidthemovie.com.
Through the extraordinary efforts of digital engineer Miles Imel of
Milestone Allied Productions (www.MAP-Media.com) in close
collaboration with Paranoid's director/cinematographer Jay Holben, a
careful compromise was achieved between current compression
technology, the limitations of the Internet and providing the highest
quality product to viewers. The result is a 72MB file with a viewing
resolution of 640x272 pixels. Download times for this file run
between 20 and 45 minutes depending on DSL/Cable speeds. It is
requested, and recommended, that viewers download and save Paranoid
on their own systems and do not attempt to watch the high-resolution
version online.
Paranoid made its World Wide Web debut January 25th on iFilm.com (a
privately held company based in Hollywood, CA) and quickly gained
popularity, amassing more than 21,000 views in its first week and
climbing to the #7 slot for most popular short film on the
entertainment network's vast website of more than 80,000 films.
Stephen King's self-dubbed "Dollar-Deal" is a policy the writer
established early in his career to grant young filmmaker's the
permission to make a movie out of any of his short stories as long as
the resulting film will not be exhibited commercially without his
approval. For this one-time right, King asks only for a copy of the
finished film and the grand total of one dollar. The most
famous "Dollar-Baby" (as King dubs the finished products and the
filmmakers who create them) is Frank Darabont's adaptation of The
Woman in the Room (released in the early 1980s on Interglobal Home
Video). Darabont later went on to adapt the multi-Academy Award
nominated films The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.
Paranoid will be available for viewing on iFilm.com or downloading
from the official website exclusively through mid-August.
For more information on Paranoid, visit www.paranoidthemovie.com.

http://www.horrorking.com
Hi everyone.
Wow, did Horrorking.Com get mentioned in a book, magazine, paper or
something, as I have had a huge influx of visitors (More than doubled
on most days), and almost a hundred new members in about a week.
Anyway, I just received this from Bev Vincent, and I thought there
may be some of you that would be very interested.
---
Stephen King has graciously provided me with a small number of signed
ARCs (advanced galleys) of his new collection, "Everything's
Eventual" to auction for charity. The beneficiary of the auctions
will be the Frank Muller Fund of the Wavedancer Foundation. All
proceeds will go directly to this charity. I will pay for auction
costs and shipping.
I'm not revealing the exact number of books available. Auctions will
run during February after the ABC Rose Red auctions are finished.
King signed galleys are virtually unheard of and these will be
available prior to the release of the first edition hardcover.
I'll announce when the first auction begins. Possibly as early as
next week, depending on how long it takes for the books to arrive.
My eBay identity is "deadzone."
Start saving your pennies. It'll be tax deductible and for a great
cause.
See http://www.bitchen.com/muller if you don't know about Mr. Muller
and Wavedancer.
