Thanks! Sorry I'm late in my reply... I decided, what better way for a
divemaster to spend her birthday than by scuba diving? So I woke up early to
give food to the monks on their morning alms route, went for my morning run,
then hopped on my motorbike and headed to the beach.
I spent the rest of the day on (and off) a boat in the Gulf of Thailand, doing
the first diving I've done on this side of the country and only diving I've done
for a few months (for most divers, a few months isn't a long time, but what can
I say? I got spoiled by every-day diving!).
And then my Thai neighbors made a potluck dinner in my honor, and the next day I
was back at school—I'm teaching Kindergarteners in the Mini English Program here
in Thailand now. It's not exactly rustic, but let's just say it's not the US
either. It's easy enough to find internet, but I don't have it at home, so I'm
not online as much as I used to be.
And, actually, Doc, you missed one—I'm 23 this year! And I wouldn't trade a
single one of those years, haha. It's been an amazing adventure so far.

i saw a chick in a 'ducktails' t-shirt today
my first thought was
punch that bitch in the neck and steal her shirt
my second thought was
aw, shit. it's not like it would fit me anyway
be glad i love mac and cheese, people
that's all i'm really saying here...
1) Personalized Intro
1985 - Natalie was the singer in a band that I was a roadie for. A friend of
mine had a bunch of audio machines and I was alone one day while he was at work.
One of my favorite things to do was be "The Confused Guy" now and then. I
recorded the first vocal on a ghetto blaster and then played that back and let
myself fuck up as I answered to it on another blaster. It's sort of my stab at a
Firesign kind of vibe. Imagine it done right on real machines. She liked it a
lot. The sound of cars going by the window are cars going by the window. It was
a hot day and there was no air conditioning. Ain't life a bitch sometimes?
2) Too Much Tube
1985 - Done the same day as Personalized Intro. There is a cheap shit Casio
keyboard and a Betamax machine added to the thing. My voice cracks because I had
a cold. Still and all a pretty nice piece. I love the jew's harp that hits you
out of nowhere and somehow fills in the sound. A true story if there ever was
one.
3) Age Spots
Recorded when I was 29 (you do the math) on a four track machine that a friend
had rented. He had told me about the machine during a phone call and I shit
about the possibilities. The guy with the living room (see above) drove myself
and another friend to Pasadena and we sat around doing nothing while those two
guys hemmed and hawed. It went like this:
Me: We could do this thing that I wrote.
Friend: I don't want to do that.
Friend 2: Me either.
Me: Than what would you like to do?
Friend: I don't know but not that.
Friend 2: Me either.
About twenty minutes pass.
Me: We could do this thing that I wrote.
Friend: I don't want to do that.
Friend 2: Me either.
Me: Than what would you like to do?
Friend: I don't know but not that.
Friend 2: Me either.
Another twenty minutes pass.
Me: We could do this thing that I wrote.
Friend: I don't want to do that.
Friend 2: Me either.
Me: Than what would you like to do?
Friend: I don't know but not that.
Friend 2: Me either.
It went like that all day long. They went home and I spent the night and cranked
out two pieces alone. Jean-Paul Sartre said that hell is other people. I'm not
sure if that's true but it sure seems like mother fucking fuck is. The piece is
a sort of review of a Laurie Anderson art show that I saw at UCLA. I was amazed
that art could have humor. I still am at times.
4) Announcement Boogie
See above - The second piece from that same night. Just a joke while I fucked
around with the machine. If I sound coked up it's because I can't get the pitch
as perfect as I'd like.
5) Jump
Mid 90's - It's really about drinking and drugging. Okay, mostly drinking. I do
like the view up here.
6) People Who Should Be Shot
Mid 90's - The first actual Cat Rant. I love marketing and how easy it is to
fall for stupid ads. If you don't like this piece it might very well be about
you.
7) Bee Bop
Mid 90's - An old episode of The Outer Limits. Seriously. I once read a poem in
a free newspaper (Los Angeles used to have quite a few of those) about the lady
in the radiator from "Eraserhead". This is my answer to that.
8) Goldfish
Mid 90's - You just can't change some people no matter how much you'd like to.
Although it was written about a guy that I once knew I'm thinking that it's
really about me. Is about you too? If you're sure it isn't then maybe it is.
9) Road
Mid 90's - I would love to believe that there is an afterlife.
Wow, you just blew my mind! I was just thinking the exact same thing!

i don't listen to pink. her stuff just ain't my kind of stuff. i don't

yeah. i'm thinking strange but i am crazy and i'm just being honest
about it. i bet it's something stupid in me. like maybe darwin or
whatever. feel free to sue me if you'd like. i'm not too busy for that.
at any rate...
i'm watching an old episode of SNL and she's the musical guest and i
just gotta say i love this lyric:
"God is a DJ
Life is a dance floor
Love is the rhythm
You are the music
God is a DJ
Life is a dance floor
You get what you're given
It's all how you use it"
if it was a bowie song it would be one of my faves.
not that i'd want that guy anyway near my penis.
well, maybe a chair next to my penis but we'd both have to keep our
clothes on.
and he'd have to keep his hands to himself...
...so i invented a band.

Hellllloooooooo!Sorry I haven't been around much. I've been around, actually,
but I've had a lot on my mind.I am in Thailand, actually.I've been here since
Janaury 10. I'm an intern at a scuba diving school, on my way to becoming a
scuba instructor. I am also doing some website design and teaching
English. Before coming here, I spent the last two months in London, getting a
certificate in TEFL—Teaching English as a Foreign Language. I spent a week in
Paris and four days in Barcelona, wandering around and taking pictures and
writing. How's all that for doing something different? So, you see, I've been
around, and I've been writing, and there are lots of new pictures to see (by me,
not of me). They can all be found on my website, www.vegan-goddess.com,
actually. I'm not sure if I have posted that link before here or not...It's
especially cool because I just got into underwater photography. I'm starting to
get pretty good at it, too! You'll find those pictures, along with pictures of
Thailand, Barcelona, and London, plus many more, and even a few songs, although
I need to redo all the recordings since I've rewritten and reworked them all,
for the better. What else? Oh! Well, it hasn't been all sun and fun like it
sounds... well, okay, London isn't known for being sunny, especially not in
winter, so that's a given... hehe. But really, I actually did have a disaster,
actually the week before I left for Thailand: my computer was
stolen.Fortunately, I had backups of everything, so it was not as bad as it
could have been. However, I had to buy a new computer, and that set me back a
pretty penny and I was not at all prepared for that.So for that reason, I have
decided to offer for sale some new pictures that I posed for before I left
Chicago with a very talented art photographer. They may be the best pictures
ever taken of me, if you ask me. If you are interested, contact me personally at
jessi (at) vegan-goddess.com.Otherwise, feel free to pop on over to the blog and
photo galleries at my website and leave comments there or here!I hope to hear
from you all!Love,~Jessi~

agreed.
we cant wait on every tender word. the group is stagnant and with
the membership, we need to show some life once in a while.

involved. no. not everytime. no. not always. no. not within seconds
(she does have a life and all). but more often than she does.
dig...
she's not in charge of here and isn't into being some kind of leader.
truth?
it's a little bit scary how you guys wait on her.
make it friendly here. and simple to deal with.
she really is just one of us.
keep things moving along and everything will work out fine.
you are now on your own...
Very True. But if you and I smoked, we could huddle together...you know, body
heat and all...prevents the chilz.

I'd buy that. It requires a certain level of commitment, I'd think,
to stand huddled outside in the cold for a cigarette.
