On Friday August 21, 2009 observers looked for the moon from Jerusalem but did
not sight it. Visibility was uncertain this evening. Further sighting reports
will be posted as they arrive. Barring a positive sighting for Friday evening,
new moon will be Saturday night.

On Saturday August 22, 2009 the new moon was sighted from Jerusalem by Devorah
Gordon at 7:02, by Johan Schutte at 7:10, and by Dina Marcus at 7:22pm. We are
still waiting to hear from some observers whether or not they sighted it from
Israel on Friday night.

Television Special on A Prayer to Our Father!

Keith and I just finished a great television interview in Odessa, Texas on Prime
Time Christian Broadcasting's program "Light of the Southwest". The 2-hour
television special will air this Wednesday night Aug 26 at 8-10pm (central time)
and will be re-broadcast three times on Thursday Aug 27 at 1-3am, 7-9am, and
2-4pm. The program can also be watched at the above times on the station's

We are excited that this program will be broadcast throughout West Texas and New

Some may know about the Karaite Jewish University or KJU which is a Karaite
institution for the purpose of educating those who want to be Karaite Jews in a
official manner. If you would like to learn more about Karaism in a academic
setting this is a way to do it.  We cover Karaism from a historical setting,
current application by major Karaite Groups, and by reading the Tanakh.  Online
Lessons materials are written by Hakham Meir, Nehemia, Rabbi Moshe, and others. 
There will also be monthly live sessions on Paltalk.

We are starting a new class begining October 18th, 2009.  The deadline for

Israel. The moon was sighted:
*from Kefar Tavor by Chad and Barbara Peterson and by Dan and Yvonne Olivier at
18:42.
*from Beersheva by Yaron Laluz at 18:51.
*from Ramle by Avi Yefet and Mordechai Chayina at 19:00.
*from Tekoa by Bruce Brill and Paul Thompson at 19:01.

On the previous evening (Saturday September 19, 2009) visibility was impossible
from Israel.

On October 20, 2009 the new moon was sighted from Israel. The moon was first
sighted from Tzfat at 17:11 by John Zecca, from Jerusalem at 17:13 by Aryeh
Levy, Nehemia Gordon, Devorah Gordon, and Adam Kinghorn, and from Kefar Eldad at
17:17 by Maya Khalturina and Bruce Brill. The moon was not sighted from Israel
on the previous evening (October 19).

reading of the Lord's Prayer in the original Hebrew! The video features Pastor
Keith Johnson reciting the prayer in Hebrew followed by an English translation.
This is the Hebrew version of the Lord's Prayer preserved by Jewish rabbis down
through the Middle Ages and described in the book "A Prayer to Our Father" by
