We honor the memory of U.S. killed in action (KIA), died of wounds (DOW), or died while captured (DWC). They were family members and friends, people in our Armed Forces. General Logan ordered the first official observance of Memorial Day with General Order No. 11 for May 30, 1868, though we honor them every day.

We considered the group name "War Memorial" as well, so we cite Gen. Robert E. Lee, reported as saying, "It is well that war is so terrible, else we should grow too fond of it." FDR also said, "Those who have long enjoyed such privileges as we enjoy, forget in time that men have died to win them." Help make worthy citizens and residents of the USA! Honor our KIA!
