some explaination:

Demons: These are the persons / spirits who got the role of
villain /bad person in life because of some curse (shrap ) from the
gods / sages / saints.

ASURAS / DAITYAS : were sky gods in the opening of the Rig-veda but
at a later stage became the antagonists of the devas. They were evil
and powerful creatures, who sometimes surpassed the devas in terms of
power. They were capable of assuming the form of animals or human as
per their wish.

RAKSHASAS : Evil spirits, who in the epic Ramayana, were led by
Ravana, the ruler of Lanka, against Lord Rama, incarnation of Lord
Vishnu . The rakshasas were against the religious and spiritual
rituals performed by sages, and did everything possible to create
hurdle in these rituals, so that they could not get the fruits of
these sacred yajnas in the form of various celestial powers, which
could be used against them.

PISHACHAS : are the hostile spirits of the dead whose children do
not perform funerary rites in their memory, as described in the
Vedas. One can free them from their ghostly existence by performing
the funerary rites

God forgives people who are bad. People needs time to change. Even
murderers can turn into a new leaf. If you motivate your fren by
teaching him good things and bringing him to temple,he'll be okay.
Try to pull him in for bhajans and other activities which benefits
him and the society. This will divert his attention.

"I have an ungovernable temper--how can I cure it?"

Well to make it simple, what is my cure if I have an ungovernable
temper and to me this is more practical: Go for a run or a swim or
anything physical sporting activity that will redirect my
"anger"
energy to more productive way. At least the run will burn my fats
away, makes me feel better thereafter. Scientifically it have been
proven that physical activity like sports is itself an anti
"anger"
or anti stress. The body produces an enzymes which then will
counteract the hormones that are being produced when one has an
ungovernable temper.

This is only a short term answer. An emergency situation. But to cure
you have to really go deeper into the root cause of this anger. There
is always a cause. Everything is a cause and effect. You cannot
just "drop" this anger, for if you did not find the root
cause, and
cure it, it will continue to come back again and again. Its like a
cycle, you need to break this cycle of anger. Hate and anger are
almost the same. They are deep rooted within us just like love and
other passion. To
remove Hate/anger is like trying to remove the dead gangerous tissue
from the surface of our skin. It will cause bleeding, pain and
ultimately scars.

I believe one of the ways even before we talk about merging with
DEVI, our mind must be at peace. Peace with ourselves and those
around us and I believe this is possible.

Why do our minds are so unsettled or easily agitated? IS there an
unresolved issues that bugs us. The underlying trauma that
have "hurt" us physically/emotionally/psychologically. Most
will say "Nah! Ive overcome it" but did we? Or we cover it up
with other emotions so as not to show that we are indeed hurt and
still hurting. Just like the wound. The wound need to be healed. Even
if the wound did heal, it still leaves scars and to some extend pain.
Not severe but dull irritating pain. Once we try to stretch our
selves, the pain get severe, and it hurts us. That is why perhaps to
some it is the
trigger point. You touch the point, they go berserk and into
uncontrolled rage.

We need to resolve that pain before we talk about healing altogether.
Personally I believe Healing is the first step to any spiritual
progress. So one way of solving this root problem I think is to
address this issue of pain and healing.

Many embarked in spiritualism with the hope to get heal, but the most
important of all is this desire to be healed. And this desire must
come from within. One must be open to healing.

Most of us get angry or agitated so fast due to our sensitive behaviour. We
must learn to be less sensitive towards the ill words or doings by other
ppls to us.

"Most of us get angry or agitated so fast due to our sensitive

Precisely vinod kumar that is my point. We are sensitive. Can we move
away from this sensitivity so as to free ourselves from this emotion
of anger? An experience Yoga master told me, Detach! Detach! Purify!
Purify! Ourselves from this, and another young sadhak asked: how do
we do it? It is easier said then done right?

I mean, is it possible that if you were to for example receive angry
statement from another person when we have done no harm or wrong to
that person, we should try not to feel upset about it. We should
right? But can we? What will our initial respond will be?

Anger and hate are just like the bullets and missiles used in war.
They cannot differentiate between friends and foe. And often it's the
innocent who becomes the victims. Anger/hate itself, cloud our sense
of judgment and reasoning, and that is when mistakes often happen.

If I could deify anger/hate, I like to dissect it. Cut it into pieces
and learn from it. The "cells" that make up this anger. The blood
vessels that supply nutrients and oxygen to it. And learn the
developmental stage of this emotion: from its fetal to its adulthood.
I wonder can we actually do that?

It is said that many years before, the Goddess here was in a ferocious and angry form. None other than Adi Shankaracharya came here, worshipped the Mother, calmed Her down, installed ther Sri Chakra here in the temple and banned the animal sacrifices. This city, Vijayawada is named after Arjuna (Vijaya), the third brother of the Pandavas of Mahabharatha, who did penance here to receive the Pasupathasthra from Lord Shiva (during their exile period) and became victorious (Vijaya). It is said that even if one drop of water of River Krishna touches the nose-ring of Mother, Goddess Kanaka Durga, it will result in pralaya or the destruction of the world.

Kanaka Durga Temple

One of the most interesting and well-known places of Vijayawada is the Kanaka Durga temple.   This temple on the Indrakila hill  is the abode of the Goddess Kanaka Durga, who is the embodiment of prosperity, power and compassion. It is believed that, Adishankara visited this temple and installed the Sri Chakra here. The deity is 4 ft high and is discernable even before one enters the Garbha griha. The goddess with eight hands and equipped with eight powerful weapons is seen in a standing posture over the demon Mahishasura, piercing him with her trident. The goddess bedecked in Jewellery is the epitome of beauty and grandeur. Sitting high up on the hill, she showers her blessings on her devotees, who worship her to bestow them with prosperity, health and wealth. The festival season of Dasara is an auspicious occasion to visit the temple to seek the blessings of the Goddess.  People credit the Goddess Kanaka Durga with the prosperous development of Vijayawada. The arrangements for the devotees are elaborate and convenient. The darshan can be had from different points to suit one’s convenience. The special darshan can be had from the Sanctum Sanctorum, in close proximity of the deity. The second darshan is from just outside of the Sanctum Sanctorum. The third type is from a distance. The temple remains open from 4.30 am to 10.30 pm. Archanas are performed at 4.30 am, 8.00 am, 2.00 pm and 6.pm. Lakshakumkum archana is performed everyday, except on Fridays and Sundays. The chanting of the mantras and the airing of the devotional music in the temple premises infuses a sense of devotion and faith.

How to reach:

By Road:The Kanaka Durga temple is situated in Vijayawada. Local buses and taxis are available to reach the temple.

hi to all,
I have just joined this discussion group and wanted to write in and
introduce myself. My name is Vineeta and I am doing some research on
Lord Muneeswaran in Singapore and Malaysia. I have barely begun to
scratch the surface of this very complex subject, but would be happy
to share what my research has so far thrown up with anyone who is
interested. I am in Singapore at present. Many thanks.

Hello Vineeta,

When you told me that you have join Lord Muneeswaran group, I was
really glad. Like to inform the list here, but refrained myself, as I
wanted it to be a surprise. I'm banking the fact that perhaps you
would introduce yourself to the group. Thank you. On behalf of the
group, we welcome you.

"I have barely begun to scratch the surface of this very complex

Indeed it is a very complex subject, but what you have done is itself
a great gift to us. There is from what I gathers no documented
recorded about Lord Muneeswaran. Most of them are oral tradition. The
time has come for someone to really take the initiative to write it
down, for the benefits of next generation.

"Would be happy to share what my research has so far thrown up

Is it okay to share it in the open at this juncture, or you rather
interested invidividuals to contact you personally. I am really
fascinated with your findings with regards to the difference approach
in worship between the Singapore and Malaysian devotees.

We should get together again sometime. Will be going back to
Singapore over the weekend for the Kali Adipuram. Will contact you
once im back.

Thanks Nora and to the group for a warm welcome.

I am very open to talking with anyone who is interested about my
research hence my offer to share. At this point I am trying to make
sense of it all and perhaps talking to devotees will help in that
process.

Will be going to the Seletar temple on Sunday. See you there.
Best wishes
Vineeta

Hi vineeta. Welcome to Lord Muneeswarar Group. Firstly, Lord
Muneeswarar is an avataram of Lord Shiva. Many people have different
ideology on how to pray to Lord Muneeswarar. Most Villages have idols
of Lord Muneeswarar or other male kaaval deivams in front to protect
the people from evil. In Singapore, Lord Muneeswarar have become a
popular deity compared to those days where mostly malaysians who were
working along railway tracks brought this god with to singapore. Lord
Muneeswarar is mostly prayed by malaysians.
