Mach 3 works well with parallel port. All you need is breakboard that works with
parallel ports. There are plenty of options that suit your needs.

I have Mach 3, it is working with AJAX CNC and ethernet plugin. I do not
know if I can to use the parallel port.

The mach 3 is using AJAX PLUGIN. Can I work with another plugin? I need to use
parallel plugin too. It is for a stepper motor...

Thanks in advance.

We present an official PoKeys Mach3 plugin by PoLabs. The main trigger for this
plugin is the new capability of the PoKeys56U and PoKeys56E devices - Pulse
engine - that can be used as an external 3-axis motion controller with Mach3.
This means that there is no more need for LPT port to drive small CNC machines.
However, the plugin support all the basic mapping options as listed below.

PoKeys Mach3 plugin existing functionality
- Support for PoKeys55, PoKeys56U and PoKeys56E devices
- Mapping of PoKeys digital inputs to Mach3 OEM LEDs and OEM buttons
- Mapping of Mach3 OEM LEDs to PoKeys digital outputs
- Mapping of PoKeys encoders to Mach3 DROs
- Support for matrix keyboard
- Support for kbd48CNC keyboard on I2C address 1
- Usage of PoKeys Pulse engine (available on PoKeys56U and Pokeys56E
devices) as external motion controller for Mach3 – 3 axes, each up to 25
kHz step frequency

Pulse engine option must be activated before the first use. During the testing
period, we will offer two free activation codes per PoKeys56 owner. Those who
are interested, please send the serial number of your PoKeys56 device to
support@.... The plugin with the basic manual is included in the
attachment in this post. Before using the plugin, please download and install
the latest PoKeys software update from www.poscope.com.

Plugin development will continue and additional options will be included in the
future.

It is avaiable here:

Am I reading this correctly... The PoKeys56U and E can now be used like a PP or
SmoothStepper and actually be used for motion control?
Sweet!
I know this is "Alpha or Beta" but is the intent to have it do threading,
backlash comp etc... someday?
Thanks!

Matevz,

Thank you for straight things up. For me, that is not defined "small" as long it
is still running 3 KW ac servo motor per axis with 15 HP spindle.
This is really cool! Big step forward for POKeys
Really great works!

Hello.

I'm hoping someone can help me with a rather puzzling problem.
I am running Mach3 on a three axis plasma. I have the A axis slaved to the Y
axis with rack and pinion gears. This worked fine. I have begun to use a
different .xml for a torch height controller and now the A axis will only run in
one direction, while the Y axis moves in both directions when using the hot
keys.

In the first .xml which worked, the hot key was 38 and 40 for the Y axis and 999
for the A axis

The new .xml has 38 and 40 for both axis and will not allow me to change the A
axis to 999. I don't know if it makes a difference or not. But I am running out
of ideas. Any help at all would be much appreciated

Thank you

Hi:

I think its buggy in that you have to set a key..so set the A axis to a
hotkey press of soemthing like alt-crtl-g , that should stop it from
interfering..

When you jog the Y axis in slave mode with the A axis it will be using the
setting for the Y axis. It may not let you set the A axis.

You should be OK.

Thanks Art.

I am able to set the hot key for A axis to whatever button I push. Just not
manual key in. However it makes no difference, even when they are set to the
same as the Y axis. The A axis will only go in one direction. I did read a
previous post where it was suggested that the signal at the #9 pin, which
controls direction for A axis, is too weak, and an additional parallel port
should be installed. I don't know what to try next.

Brain said he reuploaded it, so I think you are good with the download. Try a
feedhold during a g83.1 and resume, for me it prematurely ended the g83 cycle,
someone else confirming it would be good.

Feedhold doesn't work in Mach, during cycles. (or on Fanuc controllers
for that matter).

I can't remember whether Fanuc ignores it, waits until cycle has
finished or does a "stop" instead. It may be one of those setup options
where installer sets up preferred option or dependant on controller
model.

Brian,

I'm noticing two things with 3.43.62 that are a bit odd. I haven't quite nailed
down the pattern yet so I thought I'd post to see what others are experiencing.
(this is for mill mode)

It seems that there are some new timing issues with 3.43.62:
1) when using keyboard keys to jog in continuous jog mode, mach seems to
sometimes to miss the first key down event. I have to release the key and push
it down a 2nd time to get the jog motion started. This happens about 50% of the
time. Does not happen on revs < 3.43.62.

2) Scripts seem to be running noticeably slower. Same scripts (no changes) that
used to be quicker now seem like they lag and run slower. There are also
differences while a script is running - I am seeing pauses where there did not
used to be pauses.
(This is hard to explain, but I've run the MSM probing scripts so many times
while testing MSM releases, that I know the timing an execution pattern of the
script actions.) With 3.43.62, the execution timing is noticeably different.

That explains some Steve, it does feedhold ok, but exits the cycle on resume. I
guess the answer is easy, don't do that. LOL

a feedhold during a g83.1 and resume, for me it prematurely ended the g83 cycle,

Noticed that dro's are not zeroing when I home at startup. Auto zeroing is
checked in homing setup and always did work before.

Hi All,

Currently I don't have a sensor for spindle speed feedback installed on my
lathe and
would like to know if it possible to run CSS operation without it?

Thanks,
Tom

I can assure you that I didn't change the timming of the software but
anything could have happened. I will keep an eye out.. What are you
using for a motion device? (so we are testing the right hardware)

Thanks
Brian
