I heard the controversy and I watched Ted Koppels' special "The Fallen" last night and knew that it had to be the subject of this MBOP post. For those who didn't see the special as it was unfortunately not aired in many cities(more on that later) Mr. Koppel showed the faces, names, and ages of the US men and women who have died in the War on Terror.Something ALL allied countries should do for thier fallen in the war to rid the World of the Terror threat.
If you are pro-war, anti-war, pro-Bush, Pro-Kerry...there is a fact that many of us overlook in our zeal to say what is right or wrong...these people in the war are very brave men and women who are laying their lives on the line for what they feel is for the defense of their home and family and to help oppressed people and in the cases of the ones shown, have paid the ultimate price for that belief and their country...their very lives.
I was brought to near tears many times while watching the faces pass last night, but something is even more upsetting than that to me...the fact that many stations blocked the airing of this special. That is SO terribly WRONG. These people DIED doing what they felt was to protect their country and help the oppressed people of another...a VERY noble cause...and they MUST be honored to the highest degree..not just forgotten by us.
This post is not meant to be in any way a pro-war, anti-war, or political statement and I do not want to start that debate...what you feel is what you feel. I meant this post as a HUMAN statement. To remind people that no matter your views ...people...HUMANS...just like you... are in harms way each day and dying.
PLEASE join with me to send out prayers and positive energy for the families of the brave ones who have died, the safety of the allied troops still in harms way, and for any innocent citizens of all countries caught in the middle of this unfortunate time in our Worlds history.
Wishing you health and happiness,
Donald E. Ryles
