I'm researching Williams Barfield in Rutheford
County. He was my gggggrandfather....and also my biggest
brick wall! Williams owned a shipping and tobacco
speculation company that shipped tobacco, etc. between
Jefferson, Tn. and Natchez, Ms. between 1803-1820ish. His
wife and kids left Rutherford around 1820 and went to
Natchez. Williams became an X File at that point.

Welcome to the club Kelann20. I am also
researching the Bowles surname in Middle TN area. My Bowles
line was in the Dekalb Co. TN area. Tracing back,
Frances Bowles born in 1819 married Thomas Adcock in
1838. She was the daughter of John Bowles II & Frances
Bolling who married in Henry Co. VA in 1795. John Bowles
II parents were John Bowles I and Mary Redford who
married in 1768 in Goochland Co. VA/St. James Northam.
Let me know if any of these are connected to your
lines or post or email me some of the names and dates
on your Bowles line and I will check thru my notes
as I have alot of info on siblings of my direct
lines.
Hope to make a connection

Most of my research is around Dyer County, TN,
but people move, so I'll give this a shot. I have a
Burl Patterson, several GaNNons (this may be a
variation on Gammon?), and a Buck Kelley. These sound
familiar?

I don't know how many of you have tried
subscribing to the Rootsweb mailing lists. Although its
called subscibing....the list itself is free--no fees
necessary. You can chose from List form(receiving the emails
as they are posted) or Digest Form(receiving them in
groups in one email). I have had alot of luck finding
"cousins" who are also researching. Also if you are on a
mailing list for the area in which your ancestors lived
you increase the likelihood of finding info as well
as being able to help others which is satisfying in
itself. Go to the following url to find a list by Surname
or Location
<a href=http://lists.rootsweb.com
