Sorry to start out by mooching info on my first post!


I've scratch built an oil rig I plan to use as destroyable terrain and
I am doing several versions of select pieces I have magnetized for
removal and storage...

I need to make a plume of BLACK oily smoke with a small segment of
flame at the very bottom to represent a ruptured bore pipe that is
just lighting and then I want to do another version that is a
monstrous flame with oily black smoke at the top.


My problem is that if I do these using cotton balls or batting, they
will lose their shape when I store them. Can anyone offer another
solution??

I am considering steel wool, but I fear I will lose the shape while
storing the finished piece...
