Re: [mini-painter] Preparing metal miniatures?
It is recommended that metal miniatures are washed after flash & mold lines are
removed.? I used dawn dish soap, an old toothbrush and hot water similar to the
way John described washing his.? This removes mold release agents, metal dust
and oils from your hands (always wash hands before handling miniatures).? The
degree of mold release on minis varies greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer
and to protect the longevity of your paint job, it is best to remove it.? I have
had minis so coated in mold release that spray primer just ran off of them -
that's an extreme case, but mold release even in small quanties?will undermine
your paint job and cause it to deteriorate over time.?
