Dragon's Lair restoration Hello everyone, I've been painting minis on
and off for 27 years now and yesterday, I posted the following in the
Collecting Grenadier Models Group
<http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CollectingGrenadierModels/> . I thought
I would share it if you care to look thanks: Recently, through two
separate auctions on eBay I have obtained, pretty much the complete set
of Grenadier's Dragons Lair. The best part is it cost me under $15
dollars! Over the next month or so (because of various projects and
twin babies on the way) I will begin to restore this classic dragon. I
already stripped him which was a chore in itself. Acetone and Super
Clean failed to remove the 20 Year plus enamel (even after a 24 hour
soak) So, I used some Stuff called Strypeeze (which did not harm the
lead at all) and within 15-20 minutes the paint melted off with water
and a tooth brush. Strypeeze is very toxic, so if you do try it wear
chemical resistant gloves and a work in a well ventilated room. (I could
have tried pine sol, but I have no patience when it comes to removing
paint) Next, I will remove the flash the original owner never removed,
fix minor blemishes with green stuff, and finally I will begin to paint!
I will document the whole thing through photos and share them with you
here if you wish to look. Thanks Steve
