I'm making a compilation CD of the songs that were the inspirations for the NWH
soundtrack, but there are still a couple of tracks that I'm not sure of. Would
you guys be willing to post your own ideas of where the NWH songs came from?

Well, "F*ck the security guards" was obviously a play
off of "F*ck the police" and done to the beat of CB4's
"Sweat of my balls".

"Granny said kick yo ass" was from "Momma said knock
you out" by LL Cool J.

"Come and pet the p*ssy" was a take off of "Gonna make
you sweat" by C&C Music Factory.

"I'm just a human" was a take off of probably "Set
adrift on memory bliss" by PM Dawn.

That's all I got off the top of my head.

This is what I had planned for the compilation so far:
1. Ice Froggy Frog ["Who Am I (What's My Name)?" by Snoop Doggy Dogg]
2. Come Pet the P.U.S.S.Y. ("Gonna make you sweat" by C&C Music Factory)
3. Guerrillas in the Midst ("Gorillas in the Mist" by Da Lench Mob and Ice-Cube)
4. I'm Just a Human ("Set Adrift on Memory Bliss" by PM Dawn)
5. Booty Juice [I don't know. Someone told me that the video is "Rumpshaker",
though.]
6. Fuck the Security Guards ("Fuck Tha Police" by NWA)
7. Granny Say Kick Your Black Ass ("Momma Said Knock You Out" by LL Cool J)
8. Wear Yo Hat (Buried and Bald) [I don't know. Some Public Enemy?]
9. Grab Yo Stuff [I don't know]
10. White Cops on Dope (White Punks on Dope by The Tubes)
11. My Peanuts (My Adidas by Run DMC)
A bunch of websites say that there's a Digable Planets song, but I don't know
which one.

"Sweat of my balls" was a play on Kool G Rap and DJ
Polo's "Talk Like Sex" (same music, similar lyrics),
so that would fit here and definitly fit if you did
the same for CB4's ST.

Hey, Larry-

What about in "Ice Froggy Frog" when Ice raps, "it's 187 on a 'CB4' plot"? I
have seen "Fear" dozens of times but have never seen "CB4," in small part
because of the suggestion in this song that "CB4" is wack.

Thanks,
GJ

Very observant! As you know, Ice Froggy Frog was on the soundtrack but not
in the movie. After the movie was finished (but before it came out) we
recorded Ice Froggy Frog. We knew CB4 was coming out so it was a little jab
at them. Feel me? larry

Booty juice was just some "Luke Skywalker" inspired shit.
Wear Yo Hat and Grab Yo Stuff had no specific inspiration. Larry

Hey I am new to this group but a long time NWH fan.

I had a question about the movie itself. On the DVD (this may just be
the DVD), there movie is out of order. During the first concert where
they dispute the headline "Special Guest" at the Landmark Theatre, I
notice that after they tell Nina Blackburn about the Hat Philosophy,
they cut to a scene where they are wearing the new gear from the later
concert (the concert where Freish is shot). I know that this scene is
supposed to go with the second concert, because Tone Def even mentions
"our manager got capped on tonight." But it shows up in the first
concert? Is this a problem with my individual DVD? Or is that how the
movie goes? I have only seen my DVD version of the movie, so I have
nothing to compare it to.

Thanks in advance, and remember that it's not where you been; it's

Well, she is new

she must not have known....

ive watched the movie about 286,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
times and still find new things.

Hey I am new to this group but a long time NWH fan.

I had a question about the movie itself. On the DVD (this may just
be
the DVD), there movie is out of order. During the first concert
where
they dispute the headline "Special Guest" at the Landmark Theatre,
I
notice that after they tell Nina Blackburn about the Hat
Philosophy,
they cut to a scene where they are wearing the new gear from the
later
concert (the concert where Freish is shot). I know that this scene
is
supposed to go with the second concert, because Tone Def even
mentions
"our manager got capped on tonight." But it shows up in the first
concert? Is this a problem with my individual DVD? Or is that how
the
movie goes? I have only seen my DVD version of the movie, so I
have
nothing to compare it to.

Thanks in advance, and remember that it's not where you been; it's
wear yo' hat at!

Sorry I must have missed something in the conversation but who are you
referring to when you say "she"? I didn't see any other messages on
the message board. Did I miss something?

Ok, I don't know if this has been covered already but here we go:

I've been trying to find out what the counterpart to each N.w.h song
is. Here is what I have so far...

"Guerrillas in the Midst" is Da Lench Mob's "Guerrillas in the Mist"
"My Peanuts" is Run DMC's "My Adidas"
"Granny Says Kick Yo Black Ass" is LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You
Out"
"Fuck The Security Guards" is N.W.A's "Fuck Tha Police"
"Come and Pet The P.U.S.S.Y" is C+C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You
Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)"
"Ice Froggy Frog" is Snoop Dogg's "Who Am I (What's My Name)?"

I'm not too sure about the rest of the tracks. Anyone else have any
ideas? Also, my friend tried to critize Rusty Cundieff by saying that
he ripped other songs to make his own. I completley disagree because
many of the songs don't really sound like their real-world
counterparts and the original lyrics Rusty and his collaborator wrote
along with the remixed music are great tunes.

"But Ice Frogg, I love you."
"You don't love me, you just love my Froggy style."

The following is a message from Rusty Cundieff in response to some of the
recent questions. He is currently living somewhere in the Andes Mountains
and sends messages every 7 years. He'll have another message in 2011.

Hey, ya'll. Ice Cold here, aka Rusty to answer a few Hat related questions.

I was in town when the shit happened. That's my only movie reference as you
guys know the film better than I do.

"Fear Of A Black Hat" is a reference to Public Enemy's "Fear of a Black
Planet" And the first track was designed to have a PE flava.

Guerrillas in the Midst was something I wrote before the version with Cube,
Da Lench Mob, or anyone else had been released, and the only serious cut in
the flick. Probably one the I'm most proud of.

I was in LA when the whole Rodney King thing went down, and in fact our last
day of casting was the day that the verdict was read and mo'fuckas went wild
in the streets!

"Buried and Bald" is a take off of nothing. Just some ill shit I wanted to
do.

"Booty Juice" is some more crazy stuff that mimics no particular song, but
was in the original short I made sort of like a Digital Underground thing.
But because we couldn't afford the track we sampled on the original (Ohio
Players "Skin Tight") we had to redo it with some other beats and it really
doesn't sound like Digital Underground. But it does still have the whole
booty thing and that's what really matters.

"White Cops On Dope" is the only song that is exactly the same melody as the
original, "White PUNKS on Dope" by... I think it was the Tubes... Anyway, I
just changed the lyrics to that one and was fortunate to get Ric Ocasek,
(whose name I'm probably misspelling) from the Cars to jump in on that one.

Unfortunately I was forced to pull it off the released movie, but you can
see it on the DVD.

The other cuts are correctly pegged by "crazyninjashapiro" in his missive.
Oh, Tone Def's "Just a Human" is like some PM Dawn shit.

I'm probably forgetting a cut or two, but if I think of them I'll post
again.

Last question came from another post. It was from Dipone:

QUESTION

ANSWER:

Yes, there is a problem with your DVD. In all other versions the boys are
wearing Roc-a-wear with Nina at the landmark Theater. Amazing, since it had
not yet even been created, but NWH was always way ahead of their time. "We
always movin..."

All right, I gotta get back to my new job, directing Chappelle's Show for
Comedy Central. HYPE! As always...

Keep your head covered. Wear ya Hat.

Rusty

Ok I have one question: Rusty will there be another movie from you
soon? Love the work you are doing on Chappelle, but I would love to
see something in theaters soon!!
I'm not just a admirer of FEAR OF A BLACK HAT, but your other movies
as well. I have them all!! Keep up the good work & hope to see
something on film from ya soon!

Ps. Ladies is it just me or is Mr. Cundieff looking oh so sexy these
days :-) Check out the interview on the DVD. Peace!

Hey people how's it going? I have one question only: Now first, I'm the
biggest FOABH mark out there, I must have seen it about 500 times and it keeps
cracking me up every time I watch it. Especially Tas-T Taste. Now, where can I
get the DVD version of this? I've searched high and low for it but I can't find
it. Is it something I would have to order online? Please help me people, my VHS
tape is so shot I can barely see the pic quality. Oh yeah, and it has to be in
widescreen version only, that full screen crap sucks ass. Peace

Derek,

I'm not sure if this massive link will work. If not, go to Amazon.com, click
on "DVD" at the top, type in "Fear of a Black Hat," and it will take you
straight to it. It's $17.95 and a bargain at twice the price.
