The Group is intended to exchange information between a small group of people from Orissa (Odisha), the Eastern Coastal State of India, known as Odiyas settled temporarily or permanently in Melbourne and outskirts in the state of Victoria, Australia. Whilst the parent community Orioz_ecm operates in a much broader perspective, this group will limit its activities to Melbourne/Victoria only and will endeover to maintain its belongingness to the parent community. However, the intent is to exchange the information that is of interest to the locals only to increase the interactions and bring the Odiyas together. Sharing of photos and reach everyone through a single email etc for example is the prime objective of this Group that will probably help in this direction. The Group is Secular, Non-Political, Non-Profit, and Voluntary. The membership is open to all individuals and families interested in Odisha, to promote activities for a better understanding of Odiya culture and exchange of information amongst the Odiyas living in Melbourne/Victoria.Individuals or families from non-odiya speaking background but can speak Odiya, have been living in Odisha, or are attached to Odisha by way of some means or other, are most welcome to join the Group.
