I have just finished my B.E. ( Elex. & Instrumentation) 2010 pass out batch.

Befor going for job,I want to go to do some extra certification course , which relates to instrumentation

CIMAC-FZCO is part of the Schneider Electric Group executing turnkey Electrical and Instrumentation Projects in the Middle East with HQ in Technopark, Jebel Ali. We have an urgent requirement for Estimation Engineer(s); preferably from the Oil & Gas Sector; who would be reporting directly to the Divisional Head for Oil & Gas Division.

Skillsets

PLC Selection (Allen Bradley/Siemens/Schneider-Modicon/GE-Fanuc)
RTUs (Kingfisher/T-Box/Serck/SCADAPack/Motorola)
SCADA Selection (Wonderware/RSview/Cimplicity/Vijeo-Citect/WinCC/Serck/ClearSCADA)
DCS Selection (ABB/Yokogawa/Emerson/SMAR) would be an added advantage
Ability to read from PIDs (CAD knowledge would be an advantage)
Ability to understand Electrical SLDs
Calculate Cable Lengths from the available layouts by using the following:

� Analytical Skills

� Instruments Used in the PID/Layouts

� Experience in estimating similar projects

MS Office skillsets to enhance ability to work inclusive of Excel, Word, PP, Visio, and Outlook. (Access and Projects would be an added benefit)
Communication skillset would be of utmost importance as the candidate is required to speak with vendors/clients towards understanding and clarifying the scope as well as obtaining quotations.

Roles/Responsibilities

Prepare a bid preparation schedule for submission of bids identify people responsible for various activities within predetermined timelines and a common understanding of the scope.
Compile and issue clarifications and requests to the client and share client feedback in terms of scope, additional information etc. with the team.
Co-ordinate with all the proposal team members to ensure completion of various activities on time, arrive at solutions for any unresolved issues. and ensure smooth flow of inter-disciplinary inputs through periodic discussions with the discipline engineers.
Ensure generation of all deliverables by Engineering Disciplines as per Bid requirement (BOQs, Technical Documents to be attached to Bid, Costing for various equipment and Bulks etc)
Prepare technical and commercial proposals as per client requirement with respect to project execution plans, organization charts job specific technical write ups, bank guarantees, commercial and technical qualifications and prepare responses to the client post bid queries.
Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as required by the reporting manager

Qualification

An engineering degree/diploma in Instrumentation/Electrical/Electronics with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the oil and gas sector. (Freshers with suitable skillset as mentioned above is encouraged to apply)

Location

CIMAC-FZCO, Technopark, Jebel Ali, Dubai (located 80km from Dubai International Airport which is an effective 50 minute drive)

I want to know that "if RS-485 cable is exceeding more than 1200m is i can use the extender or repeater for connecting more distance".

I'm working as I & C design Engineer. for cable routing i have 2km of distance and i need to run the RS-485 signal cable but I'm not sure that how many km's i can run with/without extender.

can u please give the answer ASAP with any reference of the standard.

RS-485

EIA RS-485 was made a standard in 1983, derived from the RS-422 standard. RS-485 provides for

differential transmission of data on a pair of wires among 32 or more stations. Like RS-232, the standard

is a layer 1 specification. RS-485 provides for half duplex communication, since a station cannot simultaneously

transmit and receive independent data streams. Each station in an RS-485 system can have

either a transmitter or a receiver, or both (commonly called a transceiver). Most implementations provide

a transceiver. When one transceiver is transmitting, all others should be receiving (i.e., not transmitting).

Which station is allowed to transmit at which time is not specified in the standard, and must be covered

by a higher layer protocol (e.g., Interbus-S, Profibus-DP). Figure 28.3 shows a sample RS-485 waveform,

indicating the differential nature of the signaling

Maximum distance of communication for RS-485 is (35 Mbit/s up to 10 m and 100 kbit/s at 1200 m or 4000 feet) above that this we have to use repeaters/converters , but practacially the more the distance we get noise attinuated to it so we generally use repeaters/converters for greater distantces which are less than 4000 feet for better communications.

For furthers details refer the standard EIA-485 published by the ANSI Telecommunications Industry Association/Electronic Industries Alliance (TIA/EIA).

yes, you can use repeater to increase the distance,.. but, longer distance will decrease speed. for 2km, I recommend using Fiber Optic. then using FO to RS485 converter.
