I haven't really been paying much attention to my e-Sword e-mails lately - too
much other stuff going on. I know that development and support is no longer
going on with Pocket e-Sword but really need to find some modules. What I am
mainly looking for is the NIV with commentaries etc. I know that estudysource
has it for sale for the PC, but is it available (for a fee) for the PPC?

I don't want to get into a copyright battle, but is it legeal to buy the PC
version and convert it to PPC (if possible)?

Blessings and TIA
Alan

The emails I've received from Phil on that issue have been, "confusing":
* If the resource was released for e-Sword after 15 December 2009, a
version of it for Pocket e-Sword was _not_ created;
* If the resource was released for e-Sword prior to 15 December 2009, a
version of it was created for Pocket e-Sword, if Pocket e-Sword
supported that resource type;
* The cost for the e-Sword resource and the Pocket e-Sword resource is
identical;
* If you have the eStudySource item number, the Pocket e-Sword resource
can be purchased after 1 January 2010 from eStudySource;
* After 1 December 2010, Pocket e-Sword resources were not listed on the
eStudySource site;

>but is it legal to buy the PC version and convert it to PPC (if possible)?

a) Current ( e-Sword Resource Format Specification 2 ) officially
distributed resources for e-Sword are encrypted. Without the decryption
key, you won't be able to convert them to a usable format;

b) Format shifting is a technical breach of the e-Sword license;

c) Under US Law, EULAs trump copyright law. I don't know what South
African Law says. :( [ The solicitor in South Africa I talked to,
didn't feel qualified to render a legal opinion --- his expertise is in
real property --- referring me instead to a barrister that I haven't
yet talked to. ]

I'm new here. I'm trying to learn Hebrew and I'd love to find the pocket esword
BHS with vowel points module (or anything else hebrew including the hebrew new
testament).

Thanks everyone !!

Hi,
I notice that some of the new PDA's/phones are coming out with 800*480 screens.

I vaguely recall some people having trouble getting Pocket E-Sword to run
properly on screens with a "higher" resolution.

Does anyone know if Pocket E-Sword will run using the full benefits of a higher
resloution screen?

Thanks, God bless,
Greg H.

Hi Greg,
  Yes it works ok this resolution on my HD2. The issue was that the fonts that
are installed end up too large. However a kind soul created a set of resized
fonts which can be copied to the phone's windows/Fonts folder which corrects the
problem.

He used Fontcreator (trial version) to produce a shrunken version of the fonts:
Doulos SIL Regular.ttf, GalSILR20.ttf, SILEOT.ttf & tahoma.ttf

Hi John,
Thank you very much for that info. I was almost on the verge of going Android as I had not previously noticed any solutions to the font problem. I can now have another look at my favourite Bible program.

Where may I get a copy of those fonts please?

God bless,
Greg H.

How are you able to fix the scroll bar widths on 3.0.1?

I am using 3.2.0 because of the scroll bar width issue with 3.0.1, but the
Strong's numbering links don't work with 3.2.0.

Any way to have Strong's numbering and the scroll bar widths work?

Thank you for your kind assistance.

"Rodney E. Barnes" <diakonous@...>

I fixed Strongs # lookup on my WM6.5.5 machine. You simply go back to version
3.0.1 for WM2005. You do have to fix the scroll bar widths with Advanced Config
Tools or similar tweaker to see the numbers and names in the Bible Lookup page.
But other then that, everything works fine.

I have created a pocket e sword commentary for chuck smith through the bible
series C2000 that is available on the blue letter bible website for my own
personal use. I have uploaded the commentary to the following link:

http://www.esnips.com/web/PocketESwordCommentaries

It covers the entire Bible. I do not believe there is any copywright issues.
The text is available for free in TheWord and online at the blue letter bible.

I tried to download K&D from where you posted it on esnips, but esnips
requires that you download their downloader, which is a Windows program, and
I don't run Windows. Besides, I don't trust websites that make me run their
program just to do something as basic as downloading. Any chance you can
post it somewhere else?

Also, would you be willing to share the Vincent's Word Studies you converted?

Thanks.

Try doing a right click on the download, to "save as".
That _usually_ works for me.

You will presented with either a "please login" or "please become a
member" screen for some content. This occurs regardless of whether or
not one is logged in. The only way to obtain that specific content, is
to contact the person who uploaded it, and request that they email it to

Peter,

Looks like you sent this early this morning, but it just now showed up in my
email.

There are many free file sharing sites that allow direct download without
using a special program. I haven't used any of them so can't really
recommend one, but here's one that looks good on a quick initial look:
http://www.mediafire.com

You can go ahead and use my ftp server if you like, unless you'd prefer to
use the above or a similar site.

That doesn't work but, strangely, this time it let me start downloading the
file. This morning I couldn't see a way to do that without downloading
esnips' special download program. I wonder what's up with that?

Peter, I guess there's no need to upload it to my ftp server.

I still prefer sites that provide a direct link to a file, so I can use a
program that allows to stop & restart, and limit bandwidth, both of which
can be extremely helpful for very large files.

I am not sure if this exists as a pocket e sword commentary, but i converted the
pulpit commentary (Colossians to Revelation) to pocket e sword and uploaded it
to my esnips folder. The folder now includes:

Chuck Smith Through the Bible
K&D old testatment (missing 1 Chronicles to Proverbs)
VWS (missing Jude and Revelation)
Pulpit Commentary (Colossians to Revelation)

Pulpit commentary was converted from e sword study notes file. It did not come
out that great, but you can read it.

Most of the list subscribers are on moderated status. That means that
their messages sit in a queue until I approve them. I used to approve

I have a Fuze (Touch Pro), and basically you have two choices: 1> Install
3.2 for WM6+ and then install the corrected fonts (posted in an earlier
thread), but have the Strongs hyperlinks non-functional. Annoying, but its
not that difficult to go to the dictionary page and look up the number. 2>
Install 3.01 for WM5+, have full hyperlink functionality, but small control
icons. You may have to change the size of the control sliders with Advanced
Config Tools (or similar) so you can read the chapters, verses, and book
titles fully. Once its setup, the only thing that's annoying about 3.01 is
the supper small control icons. But the Fuze has a much smaller screen than
your HD2, so the control icons and drop down text size may not be an issue
for you.

So pick your poison. I've gone with 3.01 as I have decent eyes, but as I
get older, I'll have to switch to 3.2 on my Fuze, but by then I hope to have
a different phone (but not for a very long time, as this thing was expensive
enough!)...

I just wish I had the Cab files for both of them, so I could switch back and
forth at will without hooking up the PC.

I'll pm the required fonts to be used instead of the standard ones.

installed the WVGA version. Does anyone know of a workaround? Basically the txt
is far to large and the hyperlinks to Strongs etc dont work. Boo hoo!

Peter, just wanted to say, I really appreciate your doing these conversions.
  I'm sure I'm not the only one here who wants all the public domain
resources I can get my hands on, particularly (in my case) the older stuff.
