Winter Retreat Information

·        We will leave from the church building Friday evening at 6:00 with a return scheduled for Sunday morning before the end of second service (between 11:00 and 11:30)

·        4 meals will be provided (3 on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday)

o       Dinner is on your own Friday night

o       Please eat either before you come or bring your dinner with you.

§        We will have snacks set out Friday night, but you will want to eat a "real" dinner

·        We will have several hours of free time Saturday afternoon

o       Horseback riding will be available

§        There are 12 slots which will be first come, first served

§        if you would like to go riding please bring an extra $5 with you

Packing List

Necessary items

·        A couple changes of clothes

o       Stuff to sleep in, play around in, and appropriate clothing to keep you warm (the forecast is in the 40s and 50s all weekend)

·        A Bible

·        Sleeping bag

·        Pillow

·        Toiletries (this does include deodorant!)

·        Personal medications

Optional

·        Spending money (for horseback riding or the camp store)

·        Flashlight

·        Snacks

·        Footballs, basketballs, Frisbees, etc.

This last Sunday began our annual Giving Tree Toy Drive for the youth group.  As
is the case every year, the response was wonderful... but we still have several
needs which have to be filled.  We still have two names which need to be
assigned, as well as seven Walmart gift cards which need to be volunteered for. 
If you are willing to fill these needs please let me know.  I will send you the
specific information that you will need.

Please bring your gifts wrapped to church on December 6th.  Thanks to everyone
for helping make Christmas special for a great group of kids.

Since we ran out of forms yesterday for the Winter Retreat the deadline
for signing up has been extended to this Sunday, November 22nd.  I will
have forms available this Sunday or you can access it in the files tab
one the left side of the Yahoo Group screen (the Winter Retreat Form is
the third from the bottom).  The cost is still $75.

I just spoke with one of the camp directors at ACU and we are a go for
the second session (June 20-26) of Kadesh.  He told me that the second
session tends to fill up quicker than any other so it would be wise to
get your teens registration taken care as soon as possible.
Registration begins today at noon and can be found at
http://www.acu.edu/events/camps/.

MPulse will remain unchanged.  We will continue to go to the first
session of MPulse (June 13-18).

Several of you have asked me about next summer's plans for Kadesh since ACU camp
registration begins tomorrow.  We have several students who won't be done with
school until the week of Kadesh and several seniors who will be graduating that
same week.  Since this effects so many of our teens I will be working tomorrow
to see if there is room for Prestoncrest at the second session of Kadesh (June
20-26).  I announced this to your teens today during class and it seemed to get
an overall positive response.

I'm going to call the camp office tomorrow morning and see if they can
accommodate our group during the second session.  Once I know for sure I will
email everyone using the Yahoo Group and I will also send a text message.  I
will do my best to get the information out before registration begins at noon.

1.  Father/Son Paintball Campout - Tomorrow will begin registration for our
annual father son campout which will be November 14-15.  Registration form and
$45 due by November 8.  Note - Fathers do not have to be present for teens to
attend.

2.  Sophomore Class Supper at Pipkin's home - Tomorrow night following evening
service all sophomores are invited to dinner at the Pipkins home. 
Transportation will be provided.

3.  Harding University Presentation - Join us for a short presentation tomorrow
night following evening service in the Zone.  The Dallas area admissions
representative will be there to answer and questions, tell everyone what is
going on at the University and to give some things away.  Parents and teens are
invited to attend.

4.  Winter Retreat Registration Continues - Completed form and $75 due by
Sunday, November 15.

1.  We will have a Junior Class parents meeting tomorrow morning during second
service in the Zone to discuss plans for next spring's Jr./ Sr. Banquet.  We
should be finished pretty quickly.
2.  We will have a Freshman class supper tomorrow night following evening
service at the Wyde's home.  Transportation will be provided.

first service for class.  We have an announcement which we need to make which we
would like to make known to both teens and parents.

Hi everyone.  We will be leaving for the tonight's Rangers game from the
building at 5:30.  We're sorry that that information didn't make it into the
past Sunday's Fridge Facts.

If you signed up the last couple weeks we bought you a ticket unless you
informed us that you wouldn't be able to make it.  Bring your $15 for your
ticket plus money for food and drinks.  Parents, once the game is done and we
are on the road we will have your kids call you with an idea of what time we
will be back at the church.

The youth group has been asked to help a group of underprivileged kids get the
school supplies that they need.  We will meet in the Zone tomorrow afternoon at
1 and head over to Wal-Mart from there.  We will buy the school supplies and
bring them back to the building.  We'll be done no later than 3.

The cost for the school supplies averages out to $20 per volunteer tomorrow.  We
need 19 people to show up ready to shop.  This has been put together by youth
group alumnus Shelby Jackson.  Shelby has spent the last several months working
with these children at their apartment complex.  Let's make an effort to give
these kids the help that they need as they head back to school in a few weeks.

Tomorrow night's TnT will be a movie night from 6:30 to 9:00 down in the Zone. 
Dinner will not be provided but we will have snacks for everyone.  There is no
cost for this event.  I hope to see you all there.

Tonight from 6:00 to 9:30 we will have an opportunity to say goodbye to our
graduates from the Class of 09.  We'll spend some time encouraging them and we
will also hang out with each other and eat dinner.  The whole youth group is
invited.  Please make plans to be there to say farewell to a great class.

I've had several people ask me, so I thought it would be best to let everyone
know once more.  Due to tomorrow night's all church fellowship activity, there
will be no CHILL tomorrow for the youth group.  Everyone is invited to go to
Churchill Park (East of Hillcrest on Churchill Way) for a night of fellowship
and games.  It will run from 7 to 9.
