Okay, no more of this cheesy "Anti-Valentine's Day" or "Black
Monday" or "Singles Awareness Day" that some people like to call
it. Why go out of your way to "celebrate" what you're not
celebrating? Just treat it like any other day! But for those who
still insist on making that day something more than it is, I've come
up with my official new name for the day which occurs between
February 13th and 15th:
"THE FOURTEENTH OF FEBRUARY!"
You know, kind of like, "The Fourth of July!" (Why people stopped
calling July 4th "Independence Day", I have no idea, but when was
the last time you heard anybody talk about the signing of the
Declaration of Independence in the middle of a fireworks show??)
It's just yet another day that can now be referred to by the date on
the calendar, which people can celebrate without knowing what the
heck they're celebrating, but just looking for an excuse to
celebrate something! If you really want to go out of your way to
celebrate the Fourteenth of February, go to some small town where
fireworks are still legal and set them off for no reason other than
that fireworks are cool! :-)
