I second that. Christophe is creatively disgusting, brilliantly perverse and a
master of comic timing. A ren faire Don Rickles with more class. Any faire who
books him is in for a real treat.

Yes Michelle, it has been 3 Seasons, and I agree with you. We need
Christophe back. I knew him in Largo where he perfected his act. He also was
part of the Chess Match for many years. He was fabulous. I have this great
picture of him going to kick Big Mike and Mike just catches his leg. The Pic
has Mike holding his leg and Christophe with this fabulous look of fright on
his face just before the take down. He was just honing his craft as an
insulter back then. I even sat with his mom during several of the shows.

The first day he was at Maryland I walked up to him and started crying. I
was so homesick for Florida that I blubbered all over seeing him and Emrys
Fleet the Rat Catcher. (Also from Florida). It was like having a homecoming
for me. Now if we could get Don Juan and Miguel my joy would be complete.
LOL

I am hoping to travel some this year and get to see some of the faires
outside of our area and see a few old friends in the process. Besides if I
can get to Minesota I can catch up with another old friend who has moved
back up there, Carl Lundgren, the artist.

Rose (MDRF & VARF are my home faires now)

Well Met,

I've no idea if you have found any information yet, but, after just
having read your post, I wanted to see if I could find something to
help you out. Well, I did find some info with a pattern no less.

Good Day,

My husband and myself absolutely love Ren Faires. Our favorite is
Silverleaf with Michigan RF a very close second. Of course we always
make at least 1 trip to Bristol each year. This year we're seriously
considering making the drive to the Maryland RF. We've heard
wonderful things about it's magic and think it would be marvelous to
check it out for ourselves.

I'm wondering if any of you folks could recommend a decent priced
hotel in the area of the fair. We're not looking for deluxe
accomodations, just something clean and reasonably priced. After all
we'd be there to see the faire, not spend time at the hotel. Any
assistance that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I don't have any info on "do-it yourself" instructions, but Chip from
Leather Lore/Heavy Leather makes a very nice leather tankard with a
resen lining. In fact my husband just purchased one from him today up
at the West Michigan Ren Fair in Ludington, MI. Perhaps, if you're
going to make the trip to Silverleaf this year, you could speak with
him about it. He seems to be a pretty nice guy and might not have a
problem with helping you out. Of course you could always try his
website and send him an email inquiring as to how his tankards are
made. I don't have is email myself, but if you check out the
Silverleaf website I believe there's a link under the list of vendors.

Hope this was of help.

I was there today and saw you! If only I had known you were on the list
I would have said Hi!
Maryland is awsome! The only thing I recomend is to go in mid October.
Fest is open until 7 pm and it gets dark about 1/4 til 6. Walking
around after dark and seeing all the candel lanterns has to be one of
the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

Hi Terrie,

I have been attending MDRF for 5 years now (Seasons that is). I usually stay
at the KOA in a Kabin (that's how they spell it). It's cheaper than any
hotel and it is air conditioned. It's fun, there are always other rennies
near you and invariably there is an after dark gathering around bbq pit. The
only drawback are the bathrooms are a bit of a walk. They are centralized by
the office and the Kabins are about 4 rows away. LOL Bring a flash light so
you don't fall into a bbq pit or over someones power cables for their RV.

As for hotels, there are many just 3-5 miles or so from the faire site in
Annapolis. and more in the surrounding area. If you go to Hotels.com you can
find some good deals. But book early. There are boat shows and other things
going on that time of year and the hotels fill up.

I'm not positive when Invasion is this year. But that is a great weekend to
go. If you are interested, join the alt.fairs.renaissance newsgroup and you
will get all the information there.

Good luck and hope to see you there. By the way, what is your "home faire"?

Hey, thanks for the suggestion on the KOA camp ground Kabin. Sounds
like fun, I'm going to check into it.

Our home fair is Silverleaf RF in Kalamazoo, MI. It's a small fair,
but it's been growing leaps and bounds. This year I hear they're
going to actually allow a beer tent. We also enjoy the Michigan RF in
Holly, MI. If you get the chance, it would be a great fair to check
out.

Thanks again for the suggestions.

There's a lot of info there, long discussions on the proper mixture to
use as an interior coating, the cuir boulli process (to stiffen the
jack), and such. I couldn't do them justice. My advice would be to
join, go 'no mail', get the info you need and unsub. (I do this a lot
myself with lists, except I rarely unsub after. I have to clean up my
subscriptions a couple times a year or drown in information.)

I'm looking for people myself. It seems in my area (Dutchess County, NY) there
are zero musicians into medieval/renaissance music.
I've created a whole new genre of music that's been dubbed by my fans as
Renasynth....since I use synthesizers in my music.
But I play bass/keys/synth/e-percussionpads.....
I have A LOT of equipment as well.....
I was actually going to play with Lord Marnen of Blackmore's Night. He only
wants to rehearse once a month......I want to rehearse 2 times a week, so.......
So if there's anyone in my area interested in getting together give me a shout.

Pete

P.S.- the clips on my Yahoo site (FILES section) are just clips......but not
necessarily what the renaissance band will be like. With each addition the sound
will evolve.
